Got this when launching the game im not sure if this problem is on my side only or not.

"I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While running game code:
File "game/splashscreen.rpy", line 3, in <module>
TypeError: 'certifi' is not a package"

I'm getting something similar except in my case it's:
I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While running game code:
File "game/achievements.rpy", line 45, in <module>
NameError: name 'steamapi' is not defined

This isn't anything new. In fact, I've gotten this same error for several games from this developer. My assumption is that it has something to do with Steam seeing as 'steamapi' is not defined.

Where you able to solve this? If not try updating joiplay and the ren'py plugin to the latest version posted in their patreon, that did the trick for me
