Apparently they are offering services as a writer for erotic games. Anyone use them before?
I have no idea if their pricing is good or not or if this is even something people consider.
Yeah I am considering reaching out just to get a bit more info from them about what they do. I see what you mean about satisfaction guarantee... That's not really a great practice to say "suck it up" if you don't like the results.Seems very expensive, sounds like this is just for dialogue - not for actual story lines.
Also doesn't look like they have a satisfaction guarantee, if you don't like what they provide you're out of luck. Most freelance writers will have a draft phase, or allow a rewrite if you're not satisfied, that doesn't appear to be the case here.
Lol yeah maybe. I've even offered my services to write for a few games on here. I guess calling yourself a professional may make it seem more legit to people though? Idk.You would be better asking for story writers in this forum than wasting money on that IMO
Next post has the reply. It's long, so i'm breaking it into it's own post.Hey there, I saw your site and am interested in your services for writing for games. I actually posted a link to your page to a forum I'm on and wanted to run some stuff by you. I kind of think that your pricing is a bit expensive. I know you say in your FAQ that you are trying to price this in a way that works for everyone, but I don't think that is quite true. I mean, I may want to build a game one day but I don't have the income to spare on a per line basis. At least not $1 per line. someone on the forum mentioned that it doesn't sound like you actually do any story work, just dialogue. Would you say that's accurate? I'm just curious, because I could see that if you were doing storyline work as well that could be a great help to some people. Another note I saw was that you seem to not have a satisfaction guarantee. Your FAQ kind of reflects that also. If someone pays you for service and is upset with the outcome, would you really charge them more to help them out with correcting things? That seems a bit harsh. Anyway, thanks ahead of time for the feedback! Perhaps I'll contact again after you reply to discuss a project for the future.
Well at least he or she (probably he, let's be real, how many chicks are trying to be writers for porn games) is considering changing pricing. I like that.Hey Sans, thanks for reaching out! I really appreciate the feedback. This kind of stuff is what I need to hear from people.
I did set my prices in a way that I believed would help out everyone, but I am definitely more interested in helping people than anything else. If I can't help people, than I can't make money with this business. I had been thinking myself that perhaps $1/line was a bit much. I am going to be considering adjusting that to something a little bit lower. If I do, the other plans will be adjusted accordingly. My thought behind the $1/line was this: If someone needs a quick boost of dialogue for a segment of their game, I could help them out with that. Generally I assume that devs know how many lines a certain scene will be, therefore they could simply pay me for exactly what they need.
As for whether I'd work on storylines or just dialogue, that's *entirely* up to the developer. If they have a basic idea, but need help executing it, I could do that for them. Like I said, I want to help. Along the same lines as I just mentioned, I assume that most devs have the idea for their game mapped out, so they would probably just need some help with the dialogue. If someone wants to have me help them plot their story as well as write dialogue, I would be glad to do that. If you are hiring me to write the dialogue, I would not charge extra for storyline-related help.
I get that a package like the "Upgrade Plus" is expensive. That's not something that just everyone will go for. Yet I also know that there are devs out there using patreon making thousands of dollars a month. If those developers who have a huge following need a lot of help to keep their releases on schedule, a package like that would be perfect for them. I would be giving them 1,100 lines of dialogue (and story assistance!). That's a significant amount of text. When you consider that some devs may even want me to be writing my text into their actual source code, that really increases the amount of time and effort it will take to write. Also consider that this may not be the only project I have going.
As for the satisfaction guarantee as you put it, I can see how my FAQ may be a bit harshly stated. I will update that soon. I am not a complete jerk; if something doesn't work out I will always be available to make things right. What I don't want is for people to assume that just because they've paid me a little bit of money that they own my time. If someone is just starting out and wants to work with me and they are only paying me $20, but want me to go back and change lines two or three times, that is time I'm spending away from other projects for very little return. I say again, like a broken record, I want people to be happy with this service and I want to help people out, but I have to set limits. That was my intent. Once I adjust the FAQ and services page, that will be more clear. Again, thanks for your feedback, I really hope I answered your questions well enough. Come back later in the week to see updated pricing plans, once I figure out what I think may work best. The outlines for the services will all be adjusted, as well as the FAQ to express my intents better.
Hope to hear back soon about your project, I'm excited to hear about it! -V.A.
