Have any of you finished Acid Style's new title "Explorer of the golden planet"?

Hey fellas! I'm a big fan of Acid Style's work and I own and have completed every single one of their games. Except for their last title, "Explorer of the golden sun", which they released a couple of days ago. If anyone has played the game, or if you know of some way to translate japanese, then let me know. At the moment I'm super stuck at a part and I have no idea what to do.

Have a super day!

I saw the company name and was interested to find out what game that could be. Then I realized its the one I started playing today, maybe that was my subconsciousness telling me to check this thread. Anyway, did not finish it yet, but have machine translation running for it, and it actually picks up some of it. So maybe theres help for you, so ask away.

What do you think of the game so far? Also, I don't want to spoil too much of the game for you. How far have you gotten into the game?

That translator sounds useful...

Im always up for those kind of games, thats the thing I like about the japanese industry, they have way more variety, in every aspect, even the gameplay like here. Not that I wouldnt mind if the western developers catch up, there are at least a few english sidescroller ones that come close.

So yeah im liking it, but only got to the apparently "hunting shop" character (thats what I read in the translator), the first tough fight. The female, gray haired person with a brown bandana, near a ore vein thingy.

Also recently played the Ethereal Legion one, that thankfully had a built in translation though. So guess I got to advance before I can help out, as its a story thing, rather than a menu/upgrade items/craft kind of issue?

And yeah, the machine translation is indeed useful most of the times, been using it since nearly 10 years now, even when the output is sometimes funny and weird, its still easy to put it together as a real sentence.

Yeah I like it as well, just wish I knew at least the basics of the japanese language, especially since I'm going to visit there with a couple of friends this year.

The fight with the gray haired chick can be tricky but you can get help from another NPC, not sure how to trigger that though. Also, winning against bosses like that is pretty rewarding. You'll know what I mean when you beat her, haha!

I can also recommend that you start "farming" ores and then use those to either sell for new weapons/armor or use them to improve your character stats. I managed to gain loads of money and ores by going for an ore vein that's near one of those respawn pods then just walk back and forth between the ore vein and the pod. You have to actually go near the pod for the ore vein to refill with ore though.

Happy to have found another person who enjoys japanese h-games. Never get the chance to discuss these kinds of games as they don't seem to be very popular among westerners. And my friends just think it's weird, haha!

Also love Ethereal Legion, maybe because it's one of the few games that I can actually play without having to struggle with the language, haha!

Gotten a lot further, seems the game is bigger than I thought. Beat the first tougher fight, actually got the help for it from an NPC, even thought I didnt need it anymore at that point. And yeah I almost expected that reward, love getting NPC's in trouble heh. Did basically what you said too, found the ore vein that was closest, and farmed it a bit.

Game takes a nice turn indeed, for example the thing with her being an android and not really feeling anything before, then having her "fun switch" activated. Love that kind of stuff.

About people enjoying japanese h-games, or them not being very popular among westerners, I never really got that feeling.
But thats coming from me and having some sites bookmarked (for example Ulmf.org, which has a thread for this game on its first site in the hentai games forum right now) for a long time where its much more prevalent than here.

But even here you can find a lot of those people, and you can see people making games or games posted that are very clearly inspired by the japanese industry. Probably because there wasnt anything even coming close to it, only the really few, mostly really awful old "adult games" that people still played just because there wasnt anything else in their language. And thats speaking for a time span of 15 years or so, with only the recent 1-2 years really starting to catch up.

So im really glad about the sometimes very nice fan translations, or even creators working together with translators to reach the western market. Seems to go the right direction, now lets hope the industry survives and grows long enough to produce a lot more finished products.

Edit: Oh yeah, not sure how tech savvy you are, but setting up the basic translators isnt that complicated I'd say. There are also tutorials on nearly every forum for it. Might be worth a try. Found a link on this forum,

This is probably their biggest and most polished game so far. Actually liking pretty much everything about the game, except for the farming part. What I like most about the game is probably the art and the animation, also the fact that there are a couple different animations depending on how many enemies there are. Games that are as polished as this one is hard to find!

Gonna check out that website, any info I can find on this game would be useful. And yeah, I'm really happy that people are starting to take interest in these kinds of games, hoping that it grows to become even more popular. Whenever a game is translated I am incredibly thankful, as some games are close to impossible to complete without knowing what to do.

I'm going to check that tutorial out, thanks a lot man. Oh, and when you've beaten the purple lizard boss or found a way into the lava area, please let me know how, because those are the parts that I am stuck at.

Oh, and just because I'm curious, what have been your favorite parts of the game so far? Like enemies, npcs, areas and stuff like that. And if you have any recommendations when it comes to h-games, just let me know. A fairly recent one I played and completed was LAB2-UndeR GrounD-. It's a game that is quite similar to Explorer of the golden planet and just as good.

Now im wondering how many lava areas there are, as I already went in one, spanning quite a few screens, and defeated a boss (some... crab blob cannon shooter thing, the enemies called Octoroks from Zelda come very close appearance wise).

If its the same area, or one of them, then you probably need to put in one of those small upgrades in a menu, it should be the last option when entering the capsule, and then the middle one, there you get 3 options, the first two to put in two small upgrades, and the last for a big one. Think there are about 24 or 26 different small ones, and 13 big ones. The smaller ones have heat and cold resistance, think the heat one is also conveniently a red chip/usb plugin thing.

If you cant enter the areas because of the heat that might be the solution, if not, gonna catch up soon enough I guess.

Dont really have a favorite part, but I like the idea of NPC "events". The changing NPC's that randomly spawn, did not see that too often. And the enemy variety, that might even be a negative point for some people that dislike a lot of content, but im mostly for a lot of it.

I played the first Lab game a while (a few years?) ago, and already got the second one ready to go as well.

Now would I have game recommendations? Aye, probably too many even, not counting the ones I already forgot.
Might want to name a few things you would like, as I would just unleash a wall of text with stuff that you perhaps dont even want. Like genre, engine, naughty content and so on. Or are you mainly looking for platformer games? That would make it a lot shorter in general. Not that I would mind giving a long answer, as seen before. :)

That one boss actually looks a lot like Octoroks, yeah. There's a lava part later in the game where lava pours down like waterfalls and it pretty much kills you in a few seconds. I checked out the forum you mentioned and you were right, those upgrades do give you things like heat/frost resistance. I thought I was close to the end of the game but turns out it's waaaayy longer than I thought(which is great).

I like the random NPC events as well, but I didn't realise they were random until I started farming the same area over and over. The enemy variety is also a big plus for me. Favorite enemy so far has to be the spider/headcrabs in the first lava area.

I've played both LAB games and I like them both, but the second one is just better in my opinion.

As for games I like, hmm.
I'm a big fan of platformers, but any game that's not turn-based combat will do(unless it's really, really good).
Also have a hard time with games that requires you to know japanese to progress.
Don't know much about different engines so guess it doesn't matter...

When it comes to naughty content I'm actually pretty picky I suppose.

--Fetishes-- I like games with a lot of interspecies and bestiality, though it doesn't have to be the main focus of the game.

--Art-- I LOVE games with similar art style to Ethereal Legion, Barrage, Explorer of the golden planet, LAB etc.

--Gameplay-- I'm okey with anything, but platforming shooters is probably one of my favorites.

--Lewd content-- I love games where your character gets damaged, loses armor/clothes and goes into a vulnerable state. Much like, eh, all of Acid Style's games, haha!

I'll give you a list of some of my favorite h-games:

Explorer of the golden planet
Aster
Lewdest Labyrinth(which ironically is turn-based)
Anthophobia
Kurovadis
Flying Princess -Inter Breed-
Soul of Forgery
LAB
LAB2
The Lewdbeasts, the Witch and her Daughter
Heroine Hunting
She Ill Server
Barrage
Ethereal LegioN
Wandering City(one of my first ever h-games and one of my absolute favorites, partly because I LOVE the Fallout franchise)

There are probably a couple of games that should have made the list that I simply forgot about, but this should give you an idea of what type of games I like. I'm always willing to try new stuff out though, so don't be shy! XD

Tell me about some of your favorite games/genres/art styles and such. I'm interested :)
I've never really chatted with anyone about this sorta stuff before so having a great time chatting about it!

Oh and sorry if you don't understand something or I don't understand something you say. English is not my native language!

You actually beat me at wall of texting, doesnt happen often. Yeah I actually went through a few lava streams already, can survive in there long enough with upgrades, perhaps even possible to stack two of them. And yep, somewhere in that thread you also see the planet, with a lot more teleport points than expected, so it seems quite bigger than the previous games. And now that you mentioned it with the spider/headcrab/facehugger, the animations where multiple enemies join in would be another plus point for me.

Going by that list of games, yep, seems like a platformer fetish heh. Actually think I played nearly all of them, and definitely heard of all of them. So you also discovered Kyrieu I see, the person behind Aster and Kurovadis and... other game I forgot (looked it up, Eroico). That would have been my first recommendation, since those games are english too. And actual game wise they are darn well made games, probably why he did non-adult versions too (at least I remember him saying that).

Just throwing a game out there that checks most of the the thing you like would be Parasite in City by Pixel Factory.
Is a platformer, shooting, kinda pixel style (even though more pixels I guess), destructible clothes if I remember correctly (thats the english term that has manifested) and definitely has some interspecies in there. Has more of a survival touch and some zombies but still worth it. And can be found right here on F95. Some downside though, in case you like it, there probably wont be any sequel, as the creator is from South Korea, and they just outright banned any pornography. Consume, produce, anything. And as someone making money from it he cant really circumvent it.

Can probably come up with more games soon, just one I remembered right off the bat. And I can kinda see why platformers work the best for you, since they are probably the most easy to use without a translation, that kinda makes sense right? Or is that also your favorite regular game genre?

And last, my favorite games/genres/anything? Uhh, tough question, since I play nearly everything. At least genres are no restrictions for me, only some quality would be good, but thats also subjective sometimes. Played hundreds of adult RPG's, platformers, strategy games, simulations, management, fighting games, even tower defence adult games. Most of it japanese though, but yeah, hoping for more from the western market. You mentioned Lewdest Labyrinth for example, love those dungeon crawler games.

Kinda generic answer, so more specific, I like those RPG's, for example running the character I control into situations it probably doesnt want to be in (good its just a character), and RPG's offer a lot of content for that, also they really cover every kind of fetish they want, just depends on the setting, so a lot to chose from. And fetish wise, I think im kinda blessed there, because theres only a few I would prefer not to have, and probably nothing that would make me turn off the game instantly. One of those I prefer not to have is Guro for example, dont see how unnecessary mutilation of a sexy character is useful, or even remove body parts... nope, leave those nice body parts where they belong, they might be fun to play with later!

And last, dont think you need to mention english not being your first language, its probably too good for some forums I know, but by coincident, its also not my first language. Alright wall of text over for now.

Edit: Oh one last thing, since I discovered that, did you put Explorer of the Golden Planet in higher resolution? Top left, you can click on that game Icon and hit 200% which makes the screen bigger. Still looks pretty nice.

The game offers a lot for such a low price, compared to something like Wandering City which is also made by Acid Style but has way less content. And yeah, gangbangs are always fun, haha.

And what you're saying about me liking platformers makes a lot of sense, since those are the games that I can actually complete without struggling. When it comes to regular games I also play some platformers, the most recent one was Shovel Knight. I really do play any type of game, as long as the game is good. Doesn't really matter if it's singleplayer, multiplayer, fps etc.

I have played Parasite in City and I probably will again, as I don't remember too much of it. Don't mind zombie survivals at all to be honest. Also, what? Have they seriously banned porn? Even the most vanilla stuff? If so, that's fucked up.

Yeah I wouldn't be restricted by genre if I knew basic japanese. What I like about H-games is that there are so many different types of genres. Even tried a couple of tower defence games, haha. Lewdest Labyrinth was actually really good, one of the better games released this year. Haven't played many other dungeon crawlers though. I really, really hope that the western market starts taking an interest in these types of games. But hey, maybe we're just a few weirdos who would want that.

RPGs are fucking great, like really. But when you don't understand what's going on then it just feels kind of pointless. I've tried many h-rpgs but most of the time I just trial and error my way through the game. It works, but it's even close to as fun as if you understood what was going on.

I feel you on that Guro stuff. Blood, gore and people getting hurt isn't really my thing. If others like it that's fine though, it's not like I'm in any position to judge, haha. But yeah, my ideal game would be like a platforming shooter with a simple, but decent story. Destructible clothes, lewd content when injured and lots of variation when it comes to enemies/animations/npcs. Oh and if the protagonist is a petite girl that's nice too! :closedtongue:

Thank you for the kind words as well. Where are you from if I might ask? Your english is great, haha!
I'm from Sweden!

And yeah, I think I did play it on high resolution!

Slight spoilers on boss descriptions and locations.

I may have missed this, but I am stuck. I have 3 paths into the volcano area, but each are blocked by lava flows at the end on the first screen. As far as I can tell from the character files in the game folder, I am only missing 2 bosses, what look to be the volcano boss (a reskin of the spear and shield boss?), and the final boss. I don't know how to proceed. Is there an item I am missing? After fighting the spear and shield boss, I missed that item above him for a while before finally jumping up there, but I don't know what those items do. Also, I still don't have burning resistence, even though as far as I can tell, I have bought all the upgrades I have unlocked so far.

A quick review as a thank you for replies to a first time poster.

This game is amazing. The amount of content in it for only 10 bucks rivals some console releases. It has a taste of Metriodvania which is always welcome for me. The combat is smooth, the control is wonderful. Though there is some grinding involved if you want to beat the game, it's not that bad if you find good spots to farm minerals at to sell them after fulling upgrading for that level. I also enjoy the "guest" character xD.

All in all, the creators did a fantastic job. I love Wandering City, but was so sad that it was so short. This game makes up for that by giving a huge experience. I sadly just wish it was readable xD

Alright, we went to private messages since I thought the thread had run its course. But I dont mind explaining a bit after progressing a lot further.

Those items you get from bosses (except from the jungle boss) are called beacons. Its part of the story of the game, I also dont know the full story yet, but a "first" being was mentioned, that was first on the planet. Might be a first android to explore there, dont know yet. And the flying droid that troubles you later is apparently part of a organisation called K.S.G, they seem to be a rebellion group and they sometimes mention earth and taking over, so they had some plans.

Anyway, apparently the beacons are needed to enter the volcano area, as in, even with heat resistance you wont be able to enter without them. Now you gain heat/cold/electric resistance by equipping the modules with different levels you find. In the last menu when entering a capsule, chose the middle option, and there are 3 slots to enter those upgrade modules. They can be remove at will and reapplied, think of them as customization. Some give you more monster drops, some more ore out of veins, and some (the deeper red/blue/yellow ones) apply resistance. So stack 2 resistance modules and you see a noticeable difference, especially with higher modules. Also important, stacking fire resistance lowers cold resistance, so dont put in two different ones, go for one. The last slot is for special upgrades, theres even one that show you the way to the next capsule.

And yeah, the games definitely bigger than I first thought, and then the small random NPC's "events" and the various helper you can find and get to help, and even a cameo from a famous android. Also, just because I really dig those details, if the character had their what I like to call "fun" switch activated, get her to no armor, in panties. If you let her idle she grabs her panties and checks down there, looking kinda flustered about all the wetness she produced. Looks funny in game.

So all in all a pretty great package of a game if you fancy explorer/metroidvania/platform games.

Edit: If someone plays more of these games, its really recommended to set up a program that hooks the games text and does a machine translation on the fly. Programs like agth, ith, or VNR (visual novel reader) arent that hard to set up.
There are tutorials in almost every forum for it. And they can work for 90% of the japanese games.

HI all, would love to comment on this game. I am currently (I think anyway) fighting the Final boss. I think its the final boss since it does not die. it regenerates health so fast i cant do any damage to it. I cant seem to get any translator to work right on any game, so i have been playing the game entirely in Japanese and doing a trial and error with equipment LOL. Since after that fight turned into a cutscene of sorts, I think I am missing "something" to kill it. I am currently missing 2 enemy encounters and what I think are 6 saving encounters? IMO Energy weapons are the best thing ever, and I always carry an AP weapon, mainly the red sword. since alot of enemies have to much defense LOL. talking about you Crystal guardian and mining monsters.

I like the fact that you can play this game out of order. LOL I totally didn't realize that I could go LEFT to explore lol

One game I would add to the list is Paradise fortress. Great game even with a partial translation, which i think has multiple endings?(maybe)

If anyone is willing to let me know what i need to do, and possible help with VNR, or maybe a better translator software is greatly appreciated. so many games I would like to play, just cant read at all.

Just gonna quote someone on the ulmf forums about that, as im assuming you mean the eyeball boss in the last volcano area.

"You can actually talk to the commader, vice commander, the green alien and the leader of the mecha alien to help you take out and guard the tumor.
To request aid from the commader, you must be sure to rescue the vice commander, help the mecha alien AND talk to the leader after they escape and defeat boss in the area. The leader of the mecha alien will give you details on how to defeat the eyeball which is crucial as you will relay the info the the commander.
After that, you can ask the 3 NPCs i mentioned to help you with the tumors by pressing up and then press the D key, that would be a total of 5 tumors taken care of, not including the one where your master guide you to 1 of the tumor"

About the translation part, its been too long since I set up the translator/text hooks to actually reliably remember whats needed. But heres a link to a thread that has that covered with another link to a tutorial.

About the "better translator software" part, its really more about which program works best for which games. Meaning, there isnt really a definite best choice everytime, its about which program spews out the most sensical words and/or gives you the best hook. Hooks are when you tell a program to read out the text of a game, and then you pick the text that you want to have translated. For example, sometimes you have multiple available text lines, but some of them are for game intern things, like what audio file plays, and thats something you of course dont need translated.

My tip is to save next to an npc in game when its possible, then start up the translator, talk to an npc, and then search for the correct text line to hook. This helps a lot because the less text that shows up before you got the right text line to translate, the less cluttered the translator is and you dont have to go through sometimes 50 text lines to find the one that is actually the dialogue. This also means, dont open menus ingame, talk straight to the npc.

I was able to set up a "hook" through tutorials and trial and error with VNR yet. it would just repeat one of these things: it will translate to the same language, translate one sentence into english, skip the next 50 sentences, translate one sentence, or not translate at all. also if Speech was accidentally activated I would get a computer voice speaking to me about random gibberish and sometimes adds for car dealerships and cellphone companies!!!! brainwash the gaming community right here LOL

I will try that link you posted and hopefully get it working correctly.

So those four people. I will go talk to them. the game is super challenging when you cant read LOL

Thank you very much! Delmach :)

EDIT: and done. I got three with the D key. so i went to fight the boss, still regenerating to fast. I was like I am sure I got something to counter that, and I did:) Equipped the turret energy gun(annoying sound one) and just summoned 4 of them waited till my energy came back and did it again. boom done LOL this led to that ash colored final boss. did the same thing there and just littered the area with them. now i'm watching something that looks like an epilogue thing with sad music. now credits. GG will totally play again :) time to find another good game like this one.

I'm honestly quite lost. Been using my phone to translate stuff here and there, but to little success. Made the loop around left and down, as well as right and down, but now I'm stuck at a wall of lava after going right, up, then left. Not sure what's next.

Description is a bit vague, but, right, up, then left on the map I presume does sound like one of the entrances to the lava area you are not yet really allowed. There is another lava area thats actually one of the earlier/easier stages, but thats ends in a boss completly to the east of the world map.

You could describe bosses and maybe I can point out which one is missing, as you might have read above you are looking for the beacons, the items you get after most bosses.

Not sure if this will work, but here is a picture of my map now. I was dumb and didn't notice this other path, but now it seems I am missing a fast travel spot. No idea where it is.

I tried going through the translator as linked but all I get is a bunch of Kanji over when the characters talk with hiragana and katakana. Any help?
