VN - Ren'Py - Heaven's Door [Ch. 2 v0.2] [AlterWorlds]

One of the strongest starts to a visual novel I've ever experienced.

A truly and audibly went "no!" when the chapter ended.

The girls are all gorgeous, the setting is interesting, and the MC is a likable guy.

I can't think of any cons because my biggest con was that the MC was a bit of a Gary Stu but he actually does have a major "flaw" and it ties the character together well perfectly.

Can't wait to play more!

The setting of the strip club isn't new, but having the strippers get treated as more than meat is a refreshing change. Lends itself easily to meeting LIs as well as drama that's more at the everyday level. Each girl feels like they have a distinct personality without being over the top, and you can see those little threads of potential for their stories. The Louisiana setting also feels fairly natural. Sure, there's things you have to suspend disbelief a bit (no real stripper is going to give you their real name 3 visits in, much less give you the time of day for less than a 20, and she as hell ain't gonna be able to look at their phone while on the clock), but it's at least doable without too much thought. Dialogue also comes off as fairly natural.
Lookswise, the renders are all pretty dang good, and are on par with AWs last game, so it's nice to know the quality isn't gonna take a nosedive. Good one to follow.

Great start to the release! If some of you played the first game from these developers, you'll love this one too!

It's rare to see a strip club story in avn, and judging by the start of the game, we're in for some interesting and intense adventures!

The girls here are really hot, we've only met a few of them and there will be more to come...

Mc is also a grown man, not like in many games where there's a 20 year old guy, sometimes you need variety, and apparently this Mc also has an illness.
Will he decide to go all the way until life takes him to the next world or will he somehow miraculously defeat his illness? Discover Heaven's Door and dive into them

Renders are very very good for the most part. Some of the love interests are very pretty and really detailed. The detail put into their looks makes them really unique and standout amoungst the cast. Some of the characters though, look pretty standard to ugly. The main love interest (i think?) has a plastic surgery fish face that just doesnot appeal to me at all. But i know im probably on the minority for that take. The main character is good looking, and i could 1000% see why the women love him so much.

The story is solid, your main character has some baggage and going through that history is one of the more interesting parts of the game. The interactions with the strippers are a way he tries to cope with this baggage and i think the storyline works well because of that aspect. The strippers as characters are all pretty enjoyable to interact with as they all feel mostly unique in their dialogue.

Theres no sex yet so its hard to rate it and thats one of the reasons why i cant put it at 5 stars yet. But overall it has great potential and i really enjoyed the first episode. 4/5

Holy cow, somebody really likes to render.

On the other hand, somebody really makes renders well.

This is a visually-dense VN, with some interaction and a bit of agency. The story is largely linear, but interesting.

The art is amazing at points, and very solid throughout. It made me wonder if the developers had legit directing or theater experience, given some of the very thoughtful scene blocking and visual foreshadowing used.

Why four stars instead of five? The pronounced chad nature of the MC, and how the strippers essentially throw themselves at him robs the story of much of the drama that actually comes from forming the bonds that just appear in this story.

Having said all that, it's got an engaging story, good narration, and some genuine interaction between some of the male characters...a rarity in this genre. There were also a couple of laugh out loud lines and some decent banter in the club. No porn yet, just a lot of titillation. Straight vanilla, but it's a popular flavor for a reason.

I was a fan of Bare Witness and I am glad to see the developer continue their work in Heaven's Door.

It's still early, but wow... what a great beginning. I know there are people who are just here for the fapping but I have come to appreciate a great story with my H scenes. Is this a great story? Not sure, but it is well written and compelling. I had some issues with some of the elements, but overall, it is really strong for an early version.

The women are all hot and there is some depth to everyone. My only problem is the speed in with the MC becomes familiar with the ladies of the club. You have to suspend your disbelief a bit but otherwise, it is really well done.

I am looking forward to seeing where this goes. Good luck to a great developer.

I don't like to write a review that's not good for the first release, but here we are. Why am I writing a bad review? Because our developer is quite experienced and has already made one good game, but he still made a bad start and rookie mistakes in his second game.

1. Introduction of the main character: As soon as we entered the story, we found ourselves in a strip club. We didn't get a chance to meet Davin, and then he told us almost nothing about the MC. As a result, I couldn't connect with Davin.

2. Game scenario: I mean, everything is so vague, I don't know what to expect from this game. MC spent most of the time in a strip club with dancers, should I expect that in future episodes? Is this going to be a simple porn game, if so, why haven't you included any sex scenes? The mystery and suspense element is also weak, you haven't given me any reason to come back to this game in future updates. You should also have added some minor choices.

3. Potential romance: I think the Li characters we've met so far are all strippers. No diversity.

A solid start with interesting characters and LIs. Wish we got to see more than just one day a week, but hopefully that will change within the next chapter.

Really like the art and renders, the character writing is nothing to complain about and I'm invested to learn more. Kinda wish I could choose who to pursue right off the bat, though - but the girls are all pretty so I'm not that bothered by it.

It's average to maybe poor, because some aspects are great and others are awful.

The writing is meh, some may like it, i didn't with the way it locks you into situations, but there aren't any grammar issues.

The renders are excellent and some of the LI models are also excellent. There's a little animation and that's good too.

The downsides start with the MC, he's supposed to be cool but it's a loser who is forced to spend his money in a strip club every single night to even look at a women. That's embarrassing.

It's practically kinetic with choices doing nothing. Rejecting some of the LI's does nothing. For a start I rejected the black chunky woman 3 times and still there were scenes where she is laying all over you. A desperate attempt to be woke I guess.

The game launches with loud obnoxious music which further cements zero respect for the player

Extremely strong start and based on dev's excellent previous title (Bare Witness) I expect this game to keep delivering the goods.

Premise: A well-to-do MC starts to frequent a strip club and finds himself quickly hitting it off with club employees while juggling personal challenges.

The Good ()

• A real-life fantasy (going to a strip club and all the strippers fall in love with you) executed well and in a mostly-believable way
• High production value -- the game just looks good
• Gorgeous models and renders
• A diversity of emerging love interests with different personalities, ages and body types
• Well-crafted cinematography and visual storytelling
• An original story that has familiar elements / setting but still feels fresh
• Characters are generally sweet, good-natured and easy to root for

The Not-So-Good ()

• The "believability" of the set-up might spin out of control -- it's a little ridiculous how fast every stripper has seemingly fallen for the MC
• Not a ton of action yet outside of a few VIP-room lap dance scenes
• Early game's action focuses on a main LI but teases multiple other paths that need more time to develop

Overall, this is a really exciting title that is diving into a (surprisingly) under-explored premise. Looking forward to following the progress on this one.

The synopsis didn't appeal much to me - guy goes to strip club, not much story expected.
But good surprise: I got roped in from the get go with good visual, good writing, good ambiance; and then it's the mystery of this man through his newly forming thursday habits.

Reviewing ch1.01 here, characters have depth that reveals slowly as they interact, it doesn't feel forced or rushed, just a tranquil pace... that imo match the kinda expected twist at the end of the chapter (and the expectedness is not a bad thing, that's literally |ispoiler]a tragedy[/ispoiler]).

Waiting for the next chapter to better appreciate it, will try their previous game (Bare Witness) meanwhile!

This one really surprised me, based on the preview images I thought it was just a strip club VN but there is actually a bit more to it, I am enjoying the story so far and all the LIs are great so far. Their personalities are on point and they do a great job slowly feeding you info on them getting you attached to each of them.
No real scenes yet but thats fine as it works with the story but there is a few animations just no pen yet at least from what I seen so far on my 1 play through.
Deff a VN I will be keeping an eye on and excited for future updates

I like it. It actually humanizes sex work, instead of just making them be mindless dolls for the MC to treat like dirt. The models are good quality, and I like the writing. It feels way more human and genuine than you usually get in AVNs. Animation of the lap dances could do with a little work. It's decent but a little janky. Certainly not the worst I've seen, not by far.
Overall, solid new title that caught my interest. I'd say it's worth keeping an eye on going forward. One of the ones where it's not just spank material, but something where I want to see where the story unfolds.

Wow. I mean just wow! Great story, not really a game as there are not a lot of options and the few I saw really don't change anything but the story is very compelling. It is a concise and captivating story. The characters are interesting and varied. The art is fantastic. The models, the LIs, the MC and even the background characters look incredible. There is a bit of animation and it looks pretty good. No sexy scenes yet but it is certainly shaping up well. Can't wait to see the update.

First off. This is a dramatic visual story, not a raunchy porn game. So don't expect raunchy sex scenes and cum flying everywhere. If you do, then you will be sorely disappointed.

To avoid spoiling the story I will only say that it takes place in a strip club conveniently named "Heavens Door", that the MC starts frequenting on Thursday evenings. Unsurprisingly, he is an incredibly attractive chick magnet who immediately catches the eye of just about every dancer in the club. The dancers practically fighting each other to gain his affections.

The renders are wonderful, the sets are immersive and fit the story perfectly. The dancers are varied in looks and personality and are also quite attractive.

If you are a fan of melodramas then you might enjoy this game. Personally, I am not. I found the game to be overly wordy as well, and feel that it could use a few edits to the text. But this does not take away form the quality and effort that was put into the making of this quality game.

An interesting, adult plot, without juvenile sperm toxicity with mothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and other delights of a hastily written plot. In technical terms, there is also nothing to find fault with: crashes, freezes, errors, inconvenient interface, boring gameplay, renders look beautiful, animations are well done, character models are not erased by other games. I liked the soundtrack, excellent music. There is quite a lot of content for a start. I really liked the game, I advise you to play it, and if you agree with me, thank the author for such a high-quality product.I hope the updates will be frequent (or large), and the game will not be abandoned.

As to be expected from AlterWorlds this one has a very strong start. During BareWitness there were a few scenes that were a bit emotional.
This first release kinda points out that this one is probably gonna be a hard pill to swallow and I am here for it.
I like the mystery behind the main character, being that you don't know anything about him other than he seems to be a bit wealthy and towards the end you get a hint as to why.
There are a couple of animations already implemented are they show serious promise for future lewd scenes. And the renders are top notch.
I'll be impatiently waiting for more of this one.

This looks to have some potential but plays like a PG 13 novel. The renders are good but there is no actual sex scenes little alone nudity. It's a strip club where the girls are hot but don't actually take anything off. Story has potential to get interesting but if you want a vanilla romance story go to your local library.

Renders and animations are excellent in this game, and the models for the girls are all very hot. Those points alone raise the game to 3 stars. Unfortunately everything else is missing. MC has charisma of a potato, the strip club being used as a setting without actually stripping and bare titties just destroys immersion and defies logic and believe.

All of the romance interests being strippers who use sex teasing for cash is also a very weird and bad choice. The story as well seems disjointed and weird, after 3 visits to strip club suddenly all the strippers love him and share their real name and their problems? Why? The MC is not charismatic and does not talk much.

The game also has massive vibes of "White knightning" and "M'lady" in the sense the MC goes out of his way to defend a bunch of random strippers so they can resume their sex work professions in the strip club.

A very good game. The girls are beautiful, particularity Patricia, who is one of the best I have ever seen in this genre.

The is a build up of tension that I really like.

My only concern is the future. The development of the story seems to be somewhat limited. But I really hope the developer will prove me wrong.
