VN - Ren'Py - Heaven's Door [Ch. 2 v0.2] [AlterWorlds]

I like the game and the story, some stuff does feel way off though and makes me wonder if this is truely going to be a choice driven game or not, its still a bit to early to say but i loved the last game from this dev as well and choices where perfect in that so i belive this will be to.

The reason that i dont know is due to the two MILF strippers, they constantly come on to MC, sittng on hes legs and MC putting holding hes hand on one of their legs under the table, it feels very weird when you have with the same girl, pushed her feets off you in the stip club and said you wasent there to visit her the second time at the stripclub, so in every possible way turning her down at every chance and yet it just dosent feel like it respect your choice of just being a friend.
I mean im fine with being friendly with everyone but theres a limit to how friendly you are with someone you have shown 0 interrest in.

But up to now you do get the choice to say no at every chance, like if someone ask to kiss you can say no in a nice way, which makes me hope this will be a pure choice driven story.

Even MC is good, tuff guy but still nice to people and he dosent have the normal 12 year old mindset thinking of tits none stop, its just so damn refreshing to play a MC who you can relate with.

Even the girls has been done right, theres some milfs, some a little younger, some with bigger tits well proberly most with big size builds but atleast theres also some with smaller tits, so it really is the perfect setup where there is something for everyone.

Cant say much about animations yet since i havent seen any sex scenes with the girls i like, but the smaller animations doing game seems nice enough so i think that to will be alright.

Music seems good and suits the scenes nicely.

As for choices it seems very good, nothing has been forced and you get the choice to do stuff with the girls or say no.

So right now i cant really give it anything but 5 stars even though it is early, but i will ofc revisit and edit my review if it does a 180 and becomes bad.

The game probably will go up to a 4 in the next update or 2 for me it's right on the edge of it for me

The game didn't really grab my attention until the very last scene , so probably gonna be an update or 2 till I get into the story / game tbh. I never been a fan of Bare Witness to be honest was only an okay game for me. So despite this game not grabbing my attention I like it alot more than BW. All the girls for the most part are very likeable at least the ones the MC talks to expect for one so far. I would say I like them more than the BW girls so far with just 1 update. That's the one thing this dev does great make very likeable characters without the need for alot of character deveolopment.

Most games I usually dislike how easy the girls fall for the MC especially in harems. This is the one time I really don't mind it and infact I kind of like it because of how likeable all the girls are. For me it also comes across a bit more natural than alot of other games due to fact they are strippers . So with them being flirty and the conversation progressions into a like / attraction just works for me and comes across more natural than most games ive played. Even tho you still need to use a level of disbelief cause it's still to fast it just works for me.

Only thing I really dislike is how the strippers can't go around topless even if it wasn't the main girls I wish there was some background characters that did just to sell the atmosphere of a strip club a little better. Then again this just a personal negative for me because of the image I have in my head of a strip club from TV and movies and with this being a AVN. I get the dev is going for a little realism and going by actual laws with where the game takes place , it just doesn't work for me and makes part of the game feel weird and odd to me especially giving the setting of the game.

I love the aesthetic and the girls!
It's a beautiful game and the girls are quite fun and even the ones we haven't met yet seem to have their stories and relations
Let's see how the story continues both for the main character and the girls!

Can I say how much i hate this game? I wish I could just call it abysmall andmove to something else, bu unfortunately I can't... the game is too good to pass on. and i hate it for it...

we got a game full of beautiful women with layers upon layers of personality to uncover. there is something for every taste and luckily the game is apparently a harem game so we won't have to choose. What gives the story its flavor are the interactions between the love interests...I preidict some will create an explosive mix and I'm all for it..

The story seems to be a core element of the game and frankly I can't wait to find out what the future has in store..

My only complain is that the logo's music is very loud

Just finished playing this, and have to say it was great.

The MC is actually a cool guy, the dancers are funny and charming. They seem more like friends, than the MC being a customer.

The whole who he is was a bit of a surprise, but what is happening not so much.

Anyway, thoroughly enjoyed it, and keen to see where it goes.

Really great game! All the technical stuff is A+. The women look amazing, the image quality is top notch and the animations are smooth. And for most games that I've played on this site, that's as good as it gets.
What sets this game apart are it's believable, three dimensional characters, that are more than just digital meatpuppets that the animator throws into as many lascivious poses as they can. I mean they actually got me engaged in the story of a porn game! Can't wait for the next release!

PROS:

1. Nice music and fits the theme well.
2. Visually the game looks good, renders are sharp and clear and there is a good amount of detail and effort that went into this.
3. Animations during "Sexual" scenes are very nicely done.
4. Writing is good, natural, structured well and reads well. Not rehearsed, but natural as if an actual conversation is going.
5. One my favourite things about the game is that the MC looks mature, rugged and handsome and looks manly, which is something often overlooked and devs opt for young hairless MCs
6. Characters are unique and have a good design about them in physical, mental and emotional ways which is really nice.
7. The MC clearly has some baggage and it makes him interesting and mysterious which is always a good way to go IMO to keep players interested.
8. Story seems simple enough and the first chapter does set the stage for what is clearly or will be an more emotional game probably than the developers previous game.

CONS:

1. Small gripe but I had to give a con, which is, no animations for woman dancing, is unfortunate and does the general models and renders a de-service for not having decent animations in those moments also.
2. Lack of other sounds, I did not notice ambience or character sounds which is a bit disappointing tbh
3. Game does feel more like kinetic novel simply because it feels like the player can't really choose his LIs. Could be just me messing up my playthrough, but it was the impression I got and is something I don't normally like.
4. Pacing is a bit slow for me, no action in terms of lewd, but its not a bad thing per se but added to the following point it is a bit of a con IMO.
5. Per above point, there is not really much content here, its also fairly self-evident as to what is wrong with the MC from his initial discussion with the gas station owner. I would have preferred more content, but hopefully we can expect regular updates with a good amount of content in the future.

FINAL THOUGHTS & SUGGESTIONS:

• While it is a lot of extra work for the developer, models/LIs doing dances should at least have some animations, even if its a combo of stills and animations.

Excellent start. The girls we've properly met so far all seem like great characters, with real lives and great personalities and from what little we've seen yet, interesting back stories. There's lots of fun interactions between them.
They are all pretty different in looks as well, with various colouring and body shapes. All attractive, of course.

It's not only the girls that are nice to look at, the different locales are all very well designed, for the club to the MC's home.

Great start, diverse set of LI's, good humor and interesting story-setup. Very much enjoyed the first episode and am looking forward to more. If you enjoyed "Bare Witness", you will enjoy this game as well.

It's a great start, with characterization being the strongest suit. But unfortunately, outside of that the game quickly falls flat.

For a man that spends so much time in a strip club, the whole affair is entirely tame. The goons feel both forced and convenient, and the big reveal is so heavy handed you can see it coming for miles.

Since the Dev all but gives the so called MC's secret away, why not come clean up front and deal with it outright? That would leave the writer a lot of room to stretch his creative legs without relying on the usual VN cliches.

Speaking of the MC, he's likable, but predictable. The writer's own ambitions continually bite him in the proverbial backside, as his ideas (while somewhat entertaining) are wholly unrealized. The story screams that the MC is an educated, worldly, well moneyed and cultured man, yet we're expected to believe that this brokeback fap palace is his new and ideal vacation destination...? I don't buy it, and you likely won't either. Hey Dev, give us a reason to get invested and to give a damn. Don't just give us clumsy clues, give us real context and a concise/cohesive narrative. And if you're going to go light with the porn, you've got to come heavy with the story -- something!

Don't get me wrong, there's the beginnings of a good story in here somewhere. The Dev just needs to revisit his story flow chart and find it.

This game is worth a look, and with a little more love, care and ingenuity, I look forward to seeing what will become of it.

Let me start by saying as a Fan of their previous game that was extremely weary about the setting of a strip club and completely jaded about DEVs insulting peoples intelligence with technicalities and tag loopholes, so far this has been done tastefully and no immersion, or realism was lost in the process (low IQ justification why LI have to be portrayed as turbo sluts on crack in every game)


Renders and Animations are high quality, they were already amazing by the latest updates of their previous game.

Writing is as competent as ever, with multiple characters with distinct personalities and fun little quirks that makes them relatable to the audience, already showing crumbs of personal stories that will for sure pull at the heartstrings.

Very glad that we avoided cliche dreams and even better NPC voyeurism, just to have sex scenes in the game. Let the relationship build up!

One personal disappointment is that Patricia is a stripper...we rarely get black girls as LI and when they do, they are 100% of the time portrayed as the slutty character. It feels like it just reinforces the stereotype...

With that being said, she is the breakout character for me in the first release, both looks and personality. Can't wait to properly start a romance with her and meet my new step daughter (lipe, if you read, don't laugh! )

My #2 would be Sapphire, but we didn't really get much of her, I just have a thing for LI that start as dismissive, or even hate the MC at the start. For whatever reason makes me want them even more.


MC is alight, I guess, a bit too OP, but that is standard for harem MC, but at least here Storm gave him a martial arts background and he is pretty big compared to the antagonists, so I'll let it slide. Personality wise he is mostly moody, understandable for spoiler sake, so maybe not everyone will be able to connect with him right away, especially since emo/dark backstories have become the standard these days.

I could not end without congratulating both Slockie and Storm on the releases and I will edit my review when more of the story and characters gets developed. So far it was an enjoyable experience, respectful to the main vanilla/harem audience.

I am a fan of the DEV's previous game. So I may write a review for his game. (Kinda forgot if I wrote a review of his previous game so I might just write for this one)

For Ch.1.01 review (Might be updated for later chapters)

First of all. most of the love interests are around the strip club and it is a harem game. Almost sound like a bad combination. I can assure you that there is not any NTR OR such kind related elements. Don't be fooled by the surface of strippers/dancers love interests, you won't feel anything uncomfortable unless you are bothered by those love interests giving lap dances/talking to other men.

The animation and images are good as before. Nothing I can complain.

The models of love interests are quite different from each other, the personality of all of them are unique.

The dialogue between characters is ok, but can do better.

The plot so far is getting interesting. Hope it will not turn into another shit drama.

For the setting of the MC, finally a good looking mature MC back in a harem game. The beard looks good.

There is not much to tell (if not spoiling the plot) in chapter 1, it is a great start for a new game. Looking forwards to future updates.

Off topic: The game name' Heaven's door always remind me of one thing, I don't know why, it is the JOJO stand Made in Heaven, it was always me, DIO.

LI is diverse and has options of your choice

The only point is that if LI was in a nightclub, it would be reasonable to have swinging content, although it wouldn't be okay if there wasn't.

It's just the first update so the plot reveal is still limited so I'll wait for the next updates

AW - You nailed the setting and the feelings of a barren landscape with no promise and shallow appearances, where the people are the hailmary, songs of freedom and human connection, colluding together to make all the places in the game come alive.
Hell hole our Main Character is in and wallowing in it at the start is getting contrasted by all the beautiful human beings dragging him outta there, which is a wonderful blossom of feelings we are happy to go through in a soothing and enticing succession all throughout this game.

Valerie was the hailmary angelic sweetheart fabulous bombshell to save us all as we could only bare witnesses to her absolute beauty within and without - this game has huge shoes to fill in terms of astounding, beloved, strong and disarming beauty to save the world, one player at a time.

Good renders, attractive looking girls and some decent writing (even if the plot is rather generic). The most dissapointing thing I think so far is that it's clear that all of the girls and LI are gonna be strippers. Was hoping that maybe there would be some other characters you can meet like maybe some female patrons or just any girls outside of the club but it doesn't seem to be the case. Not thrilled about the idea of getting with a bunch of strippers showing off infront of a bunch of other dudes. If you're fine with that then I guess it's fine. My other biggest complaint is the plot or story, it's just very generic and been done a million times. Guy drinks himself silly, beats up a bunch of thugs harassing the girls, guy has some type of chronic illness or traumatic event etc. Woulda liked to see some fresh stuff here. Overall, it's really not a bad game and it's probably like a 3.5 or maybe a 4 if you can tolerate dating a bunch of strippers.

------> UI & Sound <------
- The UI is simply put, perfect. Nothing unnecessary. Nothing needed.
- The sound was surprising. I don't mean only the music, the sound effects. I would risk to say I felt some spacialization, or, maybe my headphones played tricks on me.
- The music felt adequate to the environment.

------> Graphics <------
- This team has already lots of experience and know-how, so it wasn't really a surprise to see this level of quality and attention to detail. Each and every still and animation felt perfectly planned, poised, illuminated and rendered.
- Photography wise, while not making use of eccentric planes or extreme ones, the use of a combination of pans created the necessary level of mobile view point that avoided viewer fatigue. To my taste, it could have a bit more extravagant planes, but, no real complaints here. Just a lot of envy for the technical quality displayed, really.

------> Text & Writing <------

- Kudos, I didn't manage to catch a SINGLE typo. That doesn't mean there are none, it means that I didn't catch them. Probably not the first time this happens, but, what's important is what it means: Care & Attention. Surprising? No. Extremely pleasing.
- The dialogues flow. Naturally. In the case of Mika, they felt so, so, right...
- There's some narration, but it isn't too heavy, and it felt actually too light... We are somewhat used to longer exposures to walls of text, this felt a bit light. Not really a problem, but a surprise.

------> Characters <------

- The ones we got to meet up close, were all amazing. Personalities, traits, expressions, gestures, everything... was top notch.
- The ones more remote... like Sapphire and her girlfriend, and Kitten, managed to create interest in getting closer.
- The male characters in the club staff, were also interesting, without creepy vibes. Rather unusual. I expected some.
- The obvious creeps... well were obvious. Well done.

------> Story <------

- This is rather simple, and at the same time, rather complex. As the MC managed to say in the fight scene "He's someone that has nothing to lose". He's also, either by choice (as it appears to be) or by force, quite lonely, with only the Bourbon bottles to keep him company.
- That he even attempts to find temporary company, since he doesn't seem interested in more than that initially, on the persons that sell that exactly product, is rather unsurprising. What is surprising, is that he later discovers that they are giving him a reason to drop the company of the bottle.
- His navigation of a death sentence in the form of an unbeatable disease, while rediscovering a interest and a reason to live, is particularly intriguing and has captured my interest.

------> Conclusion <------

A very good start that instantly managed to grab my imagination. The portray of Strippers/Exotic Dancers was one of the best I have seen so far. Turning them into the Love Interests, instead of fetishes, is BOLD, daring and quite pleasing. Giving them a human dimension while respecting their individuality and nature, will not be a easy task, but I feel that this team will be able to do it.

Really strong first chapter that builds on the kind of quality we've come to expect from the AW devs after the conclusion of Bare Witness.

I'm usually hesitant to play new avns when they first come out, due to bugs, and the fact that a lot of VN's take a while to find themselves and get interesting.

This definitely hit the ground running. The girls are hot, funny, smart, sassy, catty. They are well written and are already showing they have personalities.

My two favorites right now are Mika and Coral. Patricia and Nikki are tied for third.

I can't wait to meet the rest of the girls and get to know them in game.

Will eagerly be waiting for updates.

Great first chapter. From the developers of Bare Witness which is a favourite AVN of mine, so you know that these guys will deliver which is a rare thing these days. Really looking forward to more of this!

I mostly enjoyed the devs previous game (Bare Witness), mainly the characters but found the general story lacklustre. When I initially started this game, I felt like it would be more the same, with-it taking place in a strip club, having great characters but possibly not having the best story. But as it went on, I got more intrigued by the story and have already fallen in love with the characters.

Pros:
- Fantastic Graphics
- Beautiful Models
- Interesting MC
- Intriguing plot

Cons:
- Has abit of a slow start and picks up towards the end of the update.

Looking forward to the next update

This game is interesting good render, people that are not simply copy past of other personage, and personality are implemented, so you will ask what make me remove a star ?

The background of the MC (without spoiler) i found it quite ridiculous, yes we all react differently in his case (again to not spoil), but here i found it too much far fetched so minus one star.

but 4/5 is pretty good already
