Personally I am surprised how well Taii reacted to the leak of the game, I understand that in another forum a guy leaked the $20 version of the game, and when Taii found out he kindly talked to the guy to stop doing it, while here someone leaked the update 5 and it seems that Taii did not take action on the matter.

I say that surprises me, because other content creators when this kind of thing happens threaten to stop doing things (whether animations, games, illustrations, etc).

I think that whether the game is leaked or not depends on those who pay for it, some updates were not leaked and very patiently those who can't pay for the game waited a whole month for it to be released for free.

Although in the end, as long as the 20$ version is not leaked again I guess everything is fine, since that version is exclusive for those who contribute with that amount of money (that for sure some of them very possibly support with 20$ to N_taii since HC1).

yeah i think Taii understands very well the reasoning of his supporters. they do not pay FOR his game rather then pay to support an awesome creator . i'd make a point that someone who supports Taii would do so whether the content is leaked or not.. That said.. leaking work of such a hard working and talented individual is a dick move.

No offense to his hard work but subbing from start to finish even at the lowest support tier will result in overpaying by quite a lot. If the game takes a year and a half that's 18 months, I don't know what the US rate goes for but as a Canadian the base tier is $2. So if it's an 18 month development cycle then that's $36 CAD. I'd say roughly $20 CAD more than such a game should be sold for were it to be available on Steam. My membership figure is $7.50 CAD, which across 18 months will come to $135... which is roughly 8.35 times what I would value it at. Supporting a patreon with the idea that you're paying for the game is a fool's errand, as by that logic you should support it one time and only one time: for its very last update. If the update leaks, it leaks, that isn't going to change the fact that I support N_Taii. If it did I would have cancelled my membership when update 5 leaked a month ago.

Porn is one of the most addicting things out there and Adult Games are no exception from that, it IS a fool's errand you're absolutely right but there are people out there who are so addicted and invested in the game that they couldn't get through the day knowing that there is new content available and they don't have access to it. They'd pay that 9 dollars on day 1 even if they knew that the game would be leaked a week later.

I agree, I subscribed to N_taii's Patreon with 5$ so I could have the game five days after its release, and to my surprise the game was leaked here the day after I subscribed xd.

But equally that doesn't take away my desire to support someone who really deserves it because making that kind of game in rpg (and in general in any software) requires a lot of time of learning and error. Not to mention the work and effort he put in improving the game from HC1 to HC2, and the same with HC3.

It is true that in the long run 5$ can begin to weigh (if we start from the idea that minimally could be between 18 and 20 updates to finish the game, are between 90$ and 100$ in total) may not be so much, it is even little compared to those who support with 30$ or 20$ monthly, but if you go through a difficult economic situation (like me), 5$ monthly in the long run weigh.

Fortunately I found a method to earn those 5$ in a simple and fast way doing something I like, which allows me to continue supporting N_taii in his Patreon, although it is possible that for different reasons or problems IRL there will be months in which I will have to unsubscribe.

And of course, when the final version of the game is ready, I will pay the 20$ for it.

I'm sure they're amazing, matter of fact i know that they're amazing cause the 20$ version of Update 4 got leaked and i'll admit...i downloaded it, but there is no way i can pay that much more just for 1 scene, especially when it's for a side character. The exchange rate between my currency and the dollar is so bad that i'm paying 15 bucks for the 9$ tier (VAT included).

Not to mention that i'm a broke college student. Once the entire game is out i'll buy the 20$ version but until then...no thanks xd

It sure does generate more exposure, that's why I already publish it for free with a delay in the first place. In this case, it's about respecting early access. If it gets leaked right away, why would anyone sub to begin with, knowing the biggest perk of my tiers is getting the update a bit earlier (sure, some do it because they want to support the project, but is that even a majority?)

I'm not sure how I push people into expensive tiers? You can totally enjoy the game without the extra scenes, I always make sure of that. Also, why would you "never have access" to it? You could just sub once when the game is done and get all the scenes + HC1&2 with all the extra scenes, or you could do it once every six months? Or simply skip a few updates, then pay once and get all the updates with the extra scenes at no extra cost. That's the idea behind the tier, to allow for flexibility. I also give out the update to people who've helped me a lot in various ways, as a thank you. Another thing is, without the tier being more expensive, it's high likely it'd get leaked in the end.

People need to understand I'm not saving for a ferrari, I'm saving so I can upgrade all the graphics in the game. By leaking the update, they're not some kind of Robin Hood stealing from the rich to give to the poor, since everything is going to be free either way, they're just delaying they game being improved on (and motivation's taking a hit too, but that's not what's important here.)

And now what? Instead of waiting a month for Update 6, they have to wait a month for Update 7. Is it really such an improvement?

Way to miss the entire point. It always leaks, that's inevitable. Leaking immediately means less people will pay for it. Why would we want the devs to stop working on the game because they lost too much revenue from leaks to continue?

And you are paying $10 a month to support the author, not to pay for a game. It's literally in the site name. Don't see how that point is so hard for people to understand.

We are not paying people for the game, I see it like paying my employees 10$ so they keep doing something I really like, if I wanted the final product I'd wait for the project to be completely done... I havent even played the game while paying him monthly so he finishes it

Yeah, that's why I'm wondering if they aren't doing it out of spite rather than just wanting to share the game. Usually, when people want to share, they just post it in the game thread, they don't go and PM a mod directly. I mean, I've had people tell me during HC2 that the reason they leaked an update was because they didn't like it and wanted me to use this a as a motivation "to do better next time, or they'd leak it again". But at least, I could talk to them and we solved this like adults.
