You hit the nail on the head. I've been thinking why Ulrod seems so underwhelming to me... That's it right there. He's meant to play against the stereotype of the big cold brute, which to be fair is an arguably overplayed trope. But actually, I think it would have been better if Cyanna was paired up with someone more simplistic, rather than this attempt to create a faux-romantic relationship that just feels very awkward and weird.

I think it would have worked if Ulrod was more simplistic simply because Cyanna is involved in the main story, so she could have more depth that way. I've also noticed that it feels like the developer has tried humanizing the antagonists a bit too much for my liking. The Duke is the only one so far who seems shamelessly evil, cold and manipulative. Surprise surprise, Rose's corruption and storyline is the most popular.

My issue with Ulrod is that the game constantly tries to tell us he's a big bad ass mercenary who can defeat all comers and get whatever woman he wants, but he's actually a giant pussy. He's by far the most pathetic major character in the game and I wouldn't have a problem with that if the game would at least acknowledge it. Instead we're left with the aforementioned "big cold brute" trope on a character where it doesn't really fit.

Actually you are spot on in how I feel about this too.

I understand villains having more depth is a good thing in some cases. I feel like tho unfortunately N_taii went in a direction with some that - while it might be a cool story if it WASNT a porn game or even just if it wasnt a NTR game, as a NTR game is drags the pleasure out of some of the scenes, esp. with Ulrod. Humanizing people like Ulrod just makes it not as enjoyable when he "dominates" Cyanna because the way he is displayed shows despite his physical strength, deep down he is just an incredibly insecure little bitch who can't stand the thought of loosing control. It just makes this thing depressing on BOTH sides, if you put yourself into Leto its depressing, if you put yourself into Cyanna its humiliating and depressing, if you put yourself into Ulrod its embarassing and depressing. No side feels "pleasure".

The Duke being somewhat cold and calculating is a really good part of the story. Im sure he is not a mustache-twirling villain and has some elements of his plan that he migth even think are for the good of the kingdom - just his way and not like others would have done it. I'm sure there is the component of caring about the Kingdom - genuinely - and the component of him wanting power, and both are not contradictions. You can make the Duke deep without ruining the pelasure we feel from the Rose scenes. I feel for Ulrod however the WAY N_taii has made him "deep" by making him an anti-trope, while surely a neat twist, has ruined the sexual part of that storyline completely.

I don't even know if N_Taii is doing it on purpose as he undercuts Ulrod with such regularity that I think it might be accidental. Ulrod is the only character who has absolutely no redeeming character traits. He's violent, manipulative, cruel, arrogant, and a rapist. Everyone other "bad guy" has something about them that is not negative. Jazon is clearly not a bad person he's just an absolute horn dog. The magic shop owner does actually attempt to improve Lily's lot in life by educating her and teaching her useful skills. The duke does actually seem to care about the nation beyond his lust for power and pussy. But Ulrod? He's yet to show any real ambition outside of the duke's service, he lead his crew in raping the female guardsmen into submission as soon he was introduced, he raped Alys until she submitted, and his treatment of Cyanna is consistently emotionally abusive bordering on rape. There's really nothing positive to say about Ulrod. So when he gets all emo and locks himself in his tent putting his men in danger because he's not there to organize and lead them, or when he gets extremely possessive of Cyanna, or when he forces himself on her when he's upset about one thing or another, he comes across as a petulant child.

I think what N_Taii is trying to do is to humanize Ulrod and I can't tell if he's doing it to try and get us to have some sympathy for him or to make us hate him more. All it's really done for me is cause me to speed through most of Cyanna's content because the constant verbal and emotional abuse is boring.

With that wall of text out of the way, I'm looking forward to the POL tomorrow. After the bombshell that was last week I'm interested to see where N_Taii goes from it.

So, one more main quest this year, thats great. Sadly, start of the next year gonna be residentsleeper for a while with Lily's sufferings. I mean, Lily must have fans, but for me, I can't engage in her story and her bodytype is some weird fetish imo.

I love Haylen, but disliked her last quest, because it felt like a filler, freeroam events are great tho. Hope we'll get Cyana and Haylen having fun together (on the beach in tight bikinis (Ulrod on the beach is fucking hilarious tho))

I wouldn't say no corruption, no. Update 16 will be more focused on getting the girls, especially Rose, to come to terms with all the lewd stuff that's being done to them and pushing them towards taking a more proactive role in said lewd stuff. However, there's no huge line that's going to be crossed, since the emphasis will be on the story instead. Still, I've got to say that even the story portion will have quite a lot of lewd stuff happening.

Btw, I know it's been discussed a while ago, but the current plan for the next game would be to tie all the girls to the main quest with no side quest at all, but still have some be more important than the others. That way, I can have all the characters appear in each other's quest. 95% of the people are already doing all the side quests anyway.

I mean, that's what you say but having lived through the filler sections of Bleach and Naruto... I am very quick to abandon something if it starts to feel like filler. I'm just glad N_Taii described it as a story dense update because I view Lily and Haylen as filler. Especially Haylen, but especially Lily.

Really I wanted an ETA for the update more than anything. Hopefully we get that next week.

I feel like next week's PoL is the last one before the Update is out. Before last week's PoL got released my guesses were around VERY late October, like if not THE last few days then still sometime in the last week or around that, but the fact that the story itself is already completely done and there are only 2 more secenes left to make besides the freeroam events, it makes me pretty optimistic about next week. Obviously it depends on a lot of things, like the lenght of the scenes or the amount of freeroam events, but if N_Taii has every single animation that he needs and he's not depending on other artists to deliver the art that was commissioned by him, then i think next week is totally possible.

The issue is that what's left is mostly scenes and freeroams, and it's extremely difficult to determine how long those are going to take because the amount of factors to take into account is far higher. That's why I didn't give a proper ETA so far. I'll see how much progress has been done by next Monday and if I can give a rough release date by then.

You've probably reached the end of the main quest. Update 14 and 15 just added side-quests for Lily and Haylen.

Good to hear that! The most important thing is you take your time and make sure it's the best quality it can possibly be. I've always been a fan of more subtle changes, anyways, so a slower update focusing on the main girls and their changing relationships suits me just fine. We need the beach episode! The people demand it.
