Just got around to playing the latest update, and I do think that people are being a bit unfair to both Cyanna and Rose. At first, I too thought that they were somewhat cruel and dismissive of Leto. However, when you look at it from their perspective, it’s easier to see that they really are the victims.

Both Rose and Cyanna were at first essentially emotionally blackmailed into indulging in sexual activities to save the things they love, both the people of the city, but more importantly, Leto. After that blackmail, they felt an immense amount of guilt. However, due to the pleasure they receive from sex, they temporarily forget that guilt. The more they indulge, the less guilt they feel. So it’s essentially an evil cycle where: blackmail ⇒ guilt ⇒ intense orgasm/pleasure ⇒ forget said guilt ⇒ repeat.

I therefore think it’s unfair to judge them too harshly, as the majority of people would fall into the same trap if they were in the girls’ shoes. Hell, most people are addicted to even the most basic things such as caffeine and get grumpy or sad without it, so imagine the high both Rose and Cyanna get, and why that becomes their gateway to forget all the bad things around them

They became accustomed to it, and the pleasure made it impossible for them to refuse. We can see signs of them failing to resist it from the middle of the game, and now that we've reached the final stages, their change due to sexual desires is completely reasonable.

100%. I think that’s exactly what makes this whole story so tragic. The true sadness doesn’t come from what happens to them physically, but from how their own goodness where their compassion, loyalty, and willingness to sacrifice is turned against them. That inner light in both Rose and Cyanna, the very thing that made them admirable, becomes the weapon that breaks them.

It’s sad because we’re essentially watching their virtues be twisted into tools of manipulation. The pleasure they experience isn’t just carnal, it’s a mechanism that corrupts their moral compass and slowly reshapes who they are. By the later stages, it’s not that they’ve lost their humanity, it’s that their humanity has been rewired. And that’s why this game hits harder than most, it doesn’t just show desire, it shows how desire can rewrite identity itself.

This is why I think this is one of the most memorable games on this site!

I’m not ignoring the fact that they were initially blackmailed, or that their own virtues were used as weapons against them to drag them into acts of depravity and desire. What really drives me crazy are the monumental screw-ups the female characters make XD. But the game knows how to use that to portray the most human emotions and contradictions — and that’s what I like about it.

For example, Rose’s selfishness — she could’ve ended things with Leto right when everything she started doing with the Duke began. In fact, even the slightest hint of guilt should’ve led her to break up with Leto after she first slept with the Duke. But then comes the selfishness: she lost her parents, and any real or close friends outside of nobility. The only people she had left were Leto (her boyfriend), Cyanna, and Lily — and she basically met the other two through Leto. So from her perspective, if she broke up with Leto, she’d lose the only truly human connection she had left.

And Cyanna… well, she’s a total fool. Like Leto, she trusts people too much without suspecting ulterior motives — and she’s fallen so low that she’s started taking advantage of Leto’s own naïveté. And god, what she did with Ulrod in the bathroom was way over the line. I could explain the same kind of reasoning for the other female characters in the game — except Anna-Lisa, she is a real slut, she completely brought on herself what Lily did to her XD.

So yeah, I get that they ended up in situations that forced their hand. But I’m not defending or justifying them — I just don’t attack them either by saying, “Everything they did was meant to hurt Leto from the start, so they deserve the worst ending possible.” No. But they do deserve fair retribution for being idiots and abusing Leto’s trust — to the point of lying straight to his face while hinting at how good it feels to have sex with other men.

Rose: She’s already slept with more than one man or women in the kingdom — what kind of queenly image could she have in a happy ending?
Cyanna: She let her dear Ulrod turn the barracks into a brothel — how could the citizens ever trust her as a commander or captain of the guard in a happy ending?
Haylen: She let someone much younger — around Leto’s age — turn the church into yet another brothel. What kind of happy ending could she have where she still holds a position in the faith meant to guide others?
Lily: Well, she’s in the least compromising position of them all, and her main conflict would be internal. She let someone use her as exactly what she’s been trying her whole life to prove she isn’t — so I guess I don’t see any happy ending where, if Leto doesn’t intervene, she doesn’t completely break down inside and end up doing something stupid.

agreed, you can understand why someone might do something, if they do have a reason, but you can't justify nor defend it.
betrayals and these kind of things can't be justified, they are not mistakes if they happen repeatedly. so, as i said, they should get pubished severely, more mentally i mean.
and i can't think of a happy end either, we have to wait and see what N_taii would do for happy end and revenge end.
but my canon end would most likely be revenge ending if it be done by «Leto» himself.

And yet, it's still a sin and a crime if they enjoy sex, if they want pleasure, tell Leto so directly. Just tell him straight out and apologize for being such sluts. Leto will be furious, of course, but...
It'll be worse when the girls lie and keep lying, and then Leto finds out for himself in the end. And imagine how Leto feels?
He could have simply understood, left, lived with Shani, but far away from everything, but now he suffers and works for the girls, while they deceive him behind his back.
So, considering them victims is a question.

Yeah, I think that a ''happy ending'' is impossible at this point. I doubt that their personalities will return to before corruption, so Leto should absolutely move on from them and he has every right to be angry and disappointed.

My point where more so that Rose and Cyanna's good intentions where taken advantage of by The Duke and Ulrod, and by that point the snowball effect had already started. I don't think Leto is that well written as well, like we don't really know how he would've reacted if Rose and Cyanna told him what they are doing. He would probably lash out and attack the duke and ulrod, and then what? He dies and Rose still has to fulfill her duties cause she wants the best for her people.

Anyhow circumstances lead the girls to turn down a twisted path and it's also important to realize that they're still young (except Hayleen) so it's natural that they are really naive and still gullible. So I would absolutely consider them victims. Sexually exploiting someone for favors is a crime in many countries after all, and Rose was essentially ''groomed''-ish as well

I feel like this story is more akin to Game of Thrones books where the characters are grey, not evil nor good, just the human heart that is in conflict with it self.

a happy end would be unlogical if by «happy» we mean something like the happy end in hc2, but it has its own charm, its never bad to see redemption even when it feels unlogical, and trust me, N_taii make it feel satisfying at some point. and i must say, if we didn't have the choice to choose the ending i would never have even played the endings so, yeah,this is ehat i like about N_taii games.
but well since we dont have a true end this time, you can choose your canon end yourself, and mine would most likely be the revenge one.

i think the happy end could work if at the ending selection the girls help stop the duke plans by choosing to help Leto then they apologize and redeem themselves (maybe leto becomes king for his trouble), while in the revenge Leto discovers their betrayal however they choose pleasure over Leto thus Leto stops the villains plan alone (with the help of elf girl) and takes brutal revenge on the villions while the girls become outcastes due to their betrayal
