I think the dark-skinned characters are kind of a holdover from japanese NTR and corruption in general. I have always felt that they symbolize the "dark"-ening of the soul as the person is corrupted. No doubt there could is an interracial/exotic part to a dark skinned protag with blond hair, since most japnese are pale with balck hair.
However, I don't think Mars is supposed to be black, just tan, simply because it's seems obvious when comparing to Sera who is actually black-skinned. Also his skin tone is almost italian-esque olive in some scenes.

So I'm a bit stumped. I'm trying to get with Julia atm, and I have the ???? option, but every time I click it, it just rejects it and puts me back into the conversation beforehand. Did I break something? Can one of the console commands help?

yeah if u put him next to sera he looks super pale, but i noticed his skin colour can swap a decent amount depending on who he is with... confirmed skinwalker
I used to feel the same but not anymore. Compare the cover art on page 1 and his skin there to all the modern scenes (except with Sera). The game wasn't racial focused but it is now because I have no idea why Mars would get darker each update lol.

The people who spoke about it in the thread multiple times now. I don't particularly care for the fetish but I have to admit the inconsistency in the (wonderful) art is grating on me. Either go full in or keep to tanned Mars.
Some of the latest art like the Erin femdom content or some of the dungeon minigame art looks like it was enhanced by AI.
However, it's really really blatant in new Lavinia scene. It doesn't even look AI-enhanced in a particular frame (when she raises her ass at the highest point, it doesn't fit the flow of the animation at all even), it looks straight up like an AI generated image. Here it is as a gif. Watch for yourself.

damn that is pretty sus ngl and looks really weird especially if u compare it to previous work, also i agree that nitrolith should decide on a skin color cause it is so inconsistent at this point if you just look at the art it looks like different characters sometimes.

Mars skin colour has always been inconsistent, since the game came out. I'm not saying that it's any justification because to some degree it annoyes me as well. Nitrolith is probably just running out of white paint ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't get the mini game. The tutorial only told what bars and icons are. But I have no idea how it should be play. Tease untill aroused then go hard to amke her daze then repeat untill your stamina run out? why people talk about it like it's a fun mini game ? isn't it just a grindfest ? HELP.

An improvement in the quality of art means more consistency, not more inconsistency lol.
I'm not an artist and even I can tell you that Mars' inconsistent skin tone is a deliberate choice by Nitrolith.
Especially one this good, they know perfectly what kind of colors they want to convey. Its not something they would do "unintentionally" because "their art is improving over time". That's just a bunch of nonsense, let's be honest.
Unless I misunderstood you and you were talking about the AI-enhanced art speculation. You quoted the whole post so. Anyway, in which case, I find it unlikely, it is way too obvious with that Lavinia frame in between the animation.
You can spam click one action (from the list on the right), you'll see a combo counter build up on the upper-left of the screen something like "5x", etc. You want to build up an insane counter like a 100 or so, she'll be constantly cumming. You can clear the curse bar in one night that way. After that, you can just skip subsequent training grind and just enjoy the scenes that come afterward.
Bruh, actually watch the gif the dude posted and you'll see the blatant shift in 'art style' specifically on the last frame. Unless you mean to tell me part of their evolving art style is randomly deciding to make frames of their animation have that textbook 'sheen' of AI generated images, or just generally look noticeably different from every other frame of an animation, I feel like the use of AI is apparent enough.
I actually haven't played this game in a while so not aware of how often this thing pops up/ if it pops up in other instances but if an artist is going to use AI to generate or "enhance" their images they should be forthcoming about it, which I don't think I've seen any such info from the artist

I saw some people talking about this but you can clearly tell that some of the art is enhanced by AI, which to me is fine I just want to see the story of the game.
But dude this part of reviving Sera made me laugh out loud, like this is literally just Ai doesn't even look like Sera at all. I do wonder why his using AI I mean his drawings look really good but who knows to me it isn't a big deal.... until it starts to look really bad... or if he starts to relying to much on it.

People like to bitch about irrelevant things. Mars has always been black, there are some inconsistency here and there (probably due to improvement as someone pointed out), but his skin tone is always blackish. I think there was even a reference about how dark his skin is while Mars was meeting the general (not sure, I might be wrong, something about being on the surface as opposed to the other demons), so lay off the dev's back.
