Right now I'm stuck when it comes to doing black magic chapter quest line after defeating the Inquisitioner and talking to Roy. I sunk a good 20 minutes wondering around like a headless chicken trying to figure out how to continue only to read the wiki and find out I was supposed to go to the tavern and hope rng was on my side. Guess what? Another haf hour of goin in and out the tavern like a coked up tolder who just discoverd doors and I still haven't gotten the quest.

What, if anything, does the journal say to do? The way the black magic 2 quest works, you go to the tavern and find out that inquisitors might be keeping an eye on things in the village, then you talk to Meila (this can happen automatically or via the menu option), then you'll eventually get attacked in the village as a random event. All of these events are random, but all are at maximum priority, meaning they will be guaranteed to happen the next time an event of their type happens. It's possible, of course, that there is a bug somewhere, though.

There's nothing in the quest box. In fact my only hint that something was off was by reading the ongoing goals list which had

[Black Magic Chapter 2] Complete the quest [Black Magic Arc: Regarding Revenge].
written near the bottom. I vaguely recall talking to Meila concerning the inquisitors, but I assumed at the time that it was flavor text similar to when you streak in the village.

Double-checking the game code, I see the event is available in the daytime (morning, afternoon, or evening), so it won't work at night or late night. I'm not sure why I added that stipulation... I should probably remove it. Either way, that's something I should note on the wiki. Did you happen to give the tavern doors a workout at night? If so that may be it. I'm sorry if I wasted your time...

I didn't even think of trying during the morning. Second I did the tavern event triggered along with a quest update:
[Black Magic Arc: Regarding Revenge] Be wary of inquisitors.
A few dozen more trips later and the talk with Meila triggered on it's own. This updated the quest again:
[Black Magic Arc: Regarding Revenge] Keep being wary of inquisitors.
Tavern peaking didn't so anything so I did the next logical thing: Strip naked and spammed the explore button until something happened. After shooing off a couple potential mates, Gemma finally showed her face. The wiki made the fight seem much worse than it actually was. After building some lust stacks Gemma could barely fight back letting me spam lightning strike until she succumbed to her wounds. The inquisitor that came was a pushover in comparison.

Yeah, ideally once the game has more content, generally you'll be having this quest update in the background while you're doing other things. As for Gemma, she can do a lot of damage fast with embers and you can't deflect, but if you're high enough level you'll probably be fine. That said, she's the only boss that killed me while testing so far.

Hex: Becoming a Succubus v0.0.9α has been released to patrons!

This is a Patron Edition exclusive release!

This release marks the end of Hex‘s alpha stage of development! From now on, the game will officially be titled Hex: Becoming a Succubus (though I’ll still call it Hex for short) and will be entering a regular development cycle similar to that of Succubus Stories before it!

This update isn’t huge, but it includes some story and erotic content, as well as a new spell school, new gear, combat and defense challenges in the throne realm, and more! It will also add the plug-in and server settings systems, allowing me to push small updates to the game remotely for players, both to test new ideas out, host neat community events, and to hopefully tide players over for a bit!

The game’s first live event will run from October 21 to November 11, and participants will earn neat in-game rewards, including a special seasonal outfit for Iris!

Deflecting with a joke doesn't address the issue. Are these costumes lost forever if we don't tune in precisely when you decide we should?
I don't think it's fair to accuse me of "deflecting" with a joke given the joking tone of the original comment.

It's not my intention to predatorily use FOMO to drive patron pledges or anything. This system and the infrastructure supporting it is being tested right now, but future events will be available to everyone. If it's felt that live events of any kind are still predatory, I just won't do them anymore. The point of these events is to offer fun seasonal content, and to drive some engagement toward the game in intervals a few times a year to keep the online portion of the game healthy. To do that, I think a reward that's decent enough to drive players to actually engage with the event is a good solution.

As far as these outfits being obtainable inn other ways, I think some amount of time after the event I'll add the outfit to the shop (uses in-game money, obviously) at least for patrons. For free edition players, I'm not sure. But the only way to get the rewards for free will be through the event.

Like I said though, if players don't like it or feel it's predatory, i just won't do it anymore.

Your intent doesn't matter. The result is the same. People can't get the content unless they pay and log in when you say they should.

Then, know that this idea has my disapproval. It's the kind of thing that keeps me far away from MMOs and mobile games.
It's your game and your patreon, though, so in the end you do whatever you want.

Well, I feel like you didn't read anything I said, but your opinion is noted.

Frankly, the concepts of nsfw game and multiplayer are simply incompatible, even if some people think or say otherwise. Undeniably games can have plenty merit rven without the nsfw part, but the primary draw is still sex. People come back to a game for a wank. Making someone come back means either alluring them with unseen content or having a game mechanically so good it could be sold as a regular title.
Of course I'm generalising and there's gonna be people that disprove the assessment, but the general point stands, people come to a game here for a wank. Coming in or back to the game is based on kink appeal much more often than by fun of the game. And I know I won't be booting up a porn game for a seasonal outfit.

Players definitely make time to wank or something when updates come out. The biggest drive of traffic is releasing content updates. The problem is, temporary content just makes people think you're being predatory and I guess there's no way to solve that, even if you allow them to get the rewards later. So the only thing you can do is just not do it.

Because Hex has multiplayer elements (these are already in the game, in both the free and patron edition, so this isn't like a theoretical situation), when I drop content for Patrons, the online portion of the game is gonna be less active because I don't plan to release free edition content all the time when I release patron content, so the idea I had was to have regular events, some of which would be time-limited, to drive players to the game somewhat regularly.

The reason some of the events would go away would simply be so I could partially re-use some seasonal content from time to time, because that makes more sense with seasonal content, and because it is easier for me to involve major characters and stuff in the events if I don't have to worry about them being permanently available; in the main game I have to constantly leave myself "hooks" for future events and things like romances, player decisions, etc, but not having to do that for some events makes my life easier, but that's not really the end of the world.

At any rate, I'll probably not do any live events in the future, as I'm already sick of being accused of trying to do something shady and not that many people have even said it yet, I can only imagine what it'll be like later if it's annoying me now, lol.
