Obviously making some single renders is not that hard compared to making an update. I doubt that's the problem here.
Based on the rejected renders from above, I think he is the type of dev that makes stuff, throws a lot of it out, and remakes them until he is satisfied. Only a fraction of the content he makes actually makes it into the update or his special bonus stuff.
I created 480 images for the last update (plus writing the story, dialogue, running a Discord server, etc.), while "flooding" my patrons with 10 pinups per month. As such the pinups account for a very small percentage of the work I do. And they serve other purposes too, like maintaining interest while waiting for the next update.
