Not for me it wouldn't I play this because Emma is a LI.
I don't give a shit about corrupt cops or whatever I care about romancing a beautiful & sweet angel.
That may be correct but if corrupt cops and wannabe player was not meddling Emma's and other Lloyds' life then you would not meet with Emma in the first place. I know it's hard to separate the plot from the rest but if you think about it, you'll see. As I see it, a game only good if all the points that makes it good enough. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying characters don't matter, they do but without plot it will get boring. That's why it been said a story only as good as its villain.

I think it depends on the player and what the game is trying to be. For me I can play a game that has a bad story if I like the characters alot otherwise I wouldn't be able to enjoy about 1/2 of the slice of life games I play. But if a game is focusing more on the story than it better be decent. Which is kind of why even tho I see issues others have with some of the villains in this game it really is a non issue for me as I play this game for Charlotte first.
That's a different perspective sure but I am fairly certain there is a limit for you how bad the story can get and if you hit that line, you'll drop it regardless how much you like the characters. I am not sure anyone would like to play an epilogue where the story ends but characters stay to eternity.

idk I have a pretty high threshold of enjoying things that are bad when it comes to entertainment in general ive rarely dropped even tv shows or normal games. I have yet to drop an AVN because of a bad story up to about 100 played just about now. I've only dropped a few because of the characters none because of the story. I think it depends on the character tbh for me. Someone like Charlotte I can enjoy an endless epilogue if it's literally just about them and their day to day life as long as it has romance , drama , fights etc you know stuff you would see in a normal relationship. As that's what alot of slice of life games are barley any plot and more about the romance and dating aspect. But you are right at the same time certain characters like Emma , Suzi , Lucy I would get bored or tired of it eventually as I like them but not nearly as much as Charlotte . It honestly comes down to how much I like a character I have to like a character more than normal I think.

Edit : but you are right on another front I just now realized. A bad story will never be able to get a player to care about the characters in the first place. But once I do I think the rest the story can be bad and ill like it. Like in this game I find alot of Emma's stuff a bit boring to me so I dont have any interest in her + a few other reasons but do enjoy her as a character. But Charlotte if it was never for her story of her trauma and what happened with her I would of never liked her or gotten so invested into her character to the point I can enjoy a endless epilogue. So yeah a game does need to have a good story initially but it can go downhill if im hooked to something.

Meh, Emma is who she is because of who the MC is and his role in protecting her. She's a naive innocent girl who likes to make dresses and she's in danger. That's what makes it all tie together and become interesting. If this AVN were the "typical" MC creeping around the house like a loser I wouldn't be invested in her or the AVN at all. Story matters, it brings out interesting characters in interesting situations.

Who said the mc has to be creeping around the house? I don't play any game like that because they are trash.
I'm just saying the cops are the weak point of the story compared to the relationship building.

Nobody said it had to be an MC creeping around the house. It was a contrast, to show how the story tied in with the character makes her more compelling.

Personally, I think the cop storyline needs a little fine tuning to be more realistic.
It does. As does the character work. It's a competently written story but it's not fantastic.

I'm saying the story can make characters interesting. If you take Emma and you just have a slice of life, where she's sitting in her room chewing gum, that won't give you opportunities for her to shine compared to what she'll do in a stressful situation and it won't give the main character opportunities to be Superman-esque.

It's why guys role their eyes at most rom-com's but they perk up watching Kyle Reese and Sarah Conner form a relationship fighting off a Terminator. The characters are interesting and you get to explore a lot about them because they're put in an interesting situation.

This VN I find an interesting distraction, definitely above most AVN's posted here in quality. I wouldn't put it in my top 10 though. Wait, do I have a top 10? There's a lot of crap on this site...

Honestly, I don't like superman stories I prefer wholesome romance and stuff like that, so I hope we get that with Emma.
Give me a rom-com any day.

I would love Suzy to be my bodyguard.

And all those things we would be doing under the excuse of hand-to-hand lessons. Mmmm...
Clever!
Normally, Suzi would kill you if you try anything on her.
But there, you are her client, and she must protect you.
She can't harm you!
Well... unless she resigns
