Ok after a long time away from the game I come back, download the update only and companion mod, load up the game, click phone, and immediately get an error.

If that doesn't solve the issue, you may need to download v.0.3.5.0 and then the update v.0.3.5.1.

Question, does it matter who you choose in the beginning?

Yes and no. Some girls have more achievements than others, but eventually you can invite them all to the island (maximum of 9 at any one time), so you will be able to interact with all. I would recommend downloading and reading the Companion Guide linked on the open page of the thread.

Well I guess I was thinking the update only would update from 3.1.0 to 3.5.1 and there would be no need to do a full game download and then the update. The game starts just fine so I doubt the Fix is needed. I will try the 5.0 DL first and then update and see.

Ok so there is no 5.0 version to be downloaded. The main link downloads 5.1 and if that is the case the Update Only link needs to be removed.

try saving when you get the notification, then try going to different areas and check the competition
this way you won't have to wait for another one

I am not new to this game at all nor it's mechanics That is exactly what I am doing and after 50 reloads I still have yet to get Sara in the contest.

Pre-reqs do not require any of the quests to be done or advanced in order for her to participate in any of the contests.

There are some pre-reqs that have to be done, like progressing the timeline with Sara far enough along, talking with Jennifer, etc. I believe that those were what Monsieur X was referring to.

I would say Ivy and either 1 of the Twins or the Dr.

I would agree that the silhouette on the left is Ivy, or Ivyness, or some other flavor of Ducky-style Ivy-ish character. The silhouette on the right appears to be about as tall as the one we assume is Ivy, and I believe Ivy is at least half a head taller than M&M, so I'm guessing it's Mi.

I'm on day 113 and still haven't seen the secret lab or Sara and the others. I've done all of the mailbox quests, what do I need to do to get access to the lab?

The lab is available from day 45 and requires a fair number of things, grab the companion guide (page one has the link) and go to the section, how do I get Miriam to take me to the secret lab

Looking at the pics you attached, you have a lot to do before advancing Sara far enough along to get her into the contests. Check your open quests for Sara. Reading the Companion Guide might be useful too. This is on page 131.
