Yeah, I guess making sure you're re-hydrated to continue any sexual activity would be ok, though where you would install the option I'm not sure....maybe vending machine in reception or free bottled water/sodas in the room....wouldn't want to have to have another thing to pay for.
Is there a 'good' way to top up your 'money' in the game apart from your 'fluid' donations...I haven't seen one - I was hoping the winnings from strip poker (excluding the naked women) was going to be income but seems not.

Funny you should mention that... Playing strip poker with Joy and winning will earn you "company favor" (in-game money). The downsides to this option are that she is a highly skilled poker player (the most skilled, I think), this option isn't available until you've been on the island a certain number of days (I don't remember what that number is, but I'm sure it's in the Companion Guide), it only happens by invitation from Joy, and it is a random occurrence that doesn't happen very frequently (about once every two weeks or so, give or take).

You can also sell blue pills back to the doctor's office/infirmary if you manage to accumulate an excess of them.

Other than giving samples, winning poker against Joy, or selling excess blue pills, the only other option to increase your company favor of which I'm aware is to essentially cheat by using the Companion Mod to increase your company favor.

They forgo any continued foreplay and get right to Biz.... in hot'n'botherd event(s) of strip poker.
Actual Sex, not simulated stimulation's.

Sad but accurate, does't turn out this way on this game much at ALL.
This is a disappointment, with this title particular.

this post offers you a collection of news about the next version of Holiday Island (0.3.7).​

The change log below is based on the release 0.3.6.0.​

As of right now, the update from 0.3.6.0 to 0.3.7.0 has:
363 additional renders, videos or sound files
65 backgrounds for the new phone

New features and content

• Ivy gets a new night bar drink scene in her blue dress --> still working on it, renders are done

• Alice's arrival scene gets an update to the renders and the dialogue --> still working on it, renders are mostly done
• Jessica's night swim renders at the pool have been upgraded to 2560x1440 using AI upscaling. Animation and dialogue have been improved too. --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• Jessica gets a new arrival scene in high res with improved dialogue and additional images --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• Alice private pole dance scene in the pink room has been rendered again in 2560x1440 webp format. New images and an animation have been added. The dialogue has been improved and partially rewritten. --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• Alice gets an update to her sperm congestion scene at the doctor's office, which includes high res web images and three achievements --> will be part of 0.3.7.0

Minor improvements and changes

• Icons and keyboard shortcuts for quick save and load have been added --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• Jennifer's last call scene at the night bar gets new images in high res and webp format --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• File structure and content for scenes, events and appointments have been cleaned up. A lot is under the hood, but will reduce time in the future. Some achievements have been converted to multi image and triggers and requirements have been added. --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• Flashing breasts at the restaurant has been added to the special action achievements --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• Menu choices are moved to the right of the screen, so that they are no longer blocking the view. They will also be nicer and smaller overall --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• The text to speech for the AI voice can be switched off now in the preferences --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• Amy gets emotions for her swimwear sprites, her night wear sprites and a resolution upgrade for all her actions --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• Images for player actions (relax, jog, train) have been upgraded to double resolution webp format --> will be part of 0.3.7.0
• Company favor changes will be displayed on the left side now --> will be part of 0.3.7.0

Bug fixes

• In Yvette's pole dance scene, there was an inconsistency with the wardrobe and when she had a drink with you afterwards, image overlays were messed up --> will be fixed with 0.3.7.0
• In certain cases a girl's location could be shown as "restaurant", but she wasn't in the restaurant --> will be fixed with 0.3.7.0
• Groping a girl at the restaurant lead to blocking the grope action for other girls as well --> will be fixed with 0.3.7.0
• When you send a girl home who was the current doctor, she could roam the doctor's office as a ghost (invisible, but still talking to you) --> will be fixed with 0.3.7.0
• Deliza could show up twice as a nurse in the doctor's office --> will be fixed with 0.3.7.0
• After the message for the ankle check, Sara didn't show up at your room the next morning when you did more than 2 actions at the restaurant --> will be fixed with 0.3.7.0
• When you were not in your room when Sara picks you up for the ankle checkup, wrong overlay images were shown. In addition, the overlay UI on the right was shown --> will be fixed with 0.3.7.0

Is the update going to break save games?

0.3.7.0 --> Save games from 0.0.8 and later can still be used. Earlier saves are no longer supported.

More than likely that is your problem. The compressed version is unofficial and not supported by darkhound1, the developer of the game. You'll have to message directly the creator of the compressed version for help.

I tried to play poker but it said I haven't picked up any cards yet? How do I do that?

I haven't tried to get anyone to switch bikinis....since it seems to want me to get cards, I'm guessing those are the same deal?

How can I monitor a girl's levels so I know when it is safe(r) to ask something? One's 30 Affection is another's 50. Do we know when each girl becomes more agreeable to dates, etc? I'm pretty sure everyone still has a yellow 3 heart on the trophy page and I have no idea what that means or how to get it.

The way you get the playing cards is on the shopping app on your phone, you may not have on day 4, but it is something to check.
