Why are you putting words in my mouth? When the fuck did I say ANYTHING about anime characters or some PS2 era characters?
I said, and will say AGAIN, they are ports ... maybe I didnt make myself understood.
They rip the assents from those games files.
What happens when said assents dont exist? they have to create then from scratch so its far easier to just rip assents because they exist that create then.
I mentioned KOS-MOS because she used to be rather popular, she dropped out and her assents are from those PS2 games that means they arent really suitable for HS2 and would have to be recreated. That was just a example and I thought it was pretty straightforward but clearly it was not.
We have Koikatsu for those, and it's doing great.
And I specifically said Koikatsu works for anime characters, it doesnt for 3d character.
I SPECIFICALLY mentioned Fragile from Death Stranding 1 ( and now 2), and there are so many more 3D characters from recent years who don't get ported because they're not DOA/FF/Other major IP girl with generic face or is ''harder'' to port ( like Ranni or Malenia from Elden Ring for example - god forbid we port those, have another Melina port as a treat instead).
I will point

out.
He goes over Luna from Expedition 33 were her head is 22k vertices as the HS2 head is just 4k, obvious this will have a significant performance hit, this is the problem ... same meshes have too much vertices and others too few, depending on factors that can be reduced or increased but that is obviously a extra step requiring tuning and can simply not working.
Reason why the other get made is because its either their assents rip are within HS2 count or because other modders created meshes that are, this shouldnt be hard to understand ...
Often this is because of how easy the process is, not because its popular ... DOA are pretty much rips from DOA5.6 or VV that are pretty lightweight performance-wise.
Like I also said - vast majority of 3D characters who get ripped from the games already get worked on by the porter to assign new bones and get new rigging, and even then I am pretty sure that this is irrelevant since for Illusion games you have to create new bones and do the rigging anyway, but maybe that's not true anymore.
That can be automated to a point, also often they share the same, Cunihinx made a post talking about Stellar Blade

were he mentions that they used morphs for facial expressions and not bones and how creating then "it's painful and likely will take a
long time", he did got it working but I am mentioning this because its a HS2 modder talking about how they extract meshes and make then work.
Either way - what does that have to do with anything anyway? I only mentioned it as a positive for DR as he is better about picking less popular characters to port, that's it.
In the end its about convenience, if its mostly done then you can put then out quite fast as if you have to create it mostly from scratch it will take a much longer time.
Also I checked and Darkruler puts up a poll and I believe takes commissions, also I just checked and what I see? Ayane, Eve and Mai ... also I see Fortnight that means those are rips from Fortnight ... pays the bills I suppose.
