I never tried HS
I am trying to figure out if I should dive into HS 1 or 2 first.
What one is better supported by modders these days?
I'm familiar with VaM, and adding scenes and stuff, but which HS is the better option to play around with these days?

I had came across a conversation on 5-chan. Where, users were discussing what had happened to the F95zone's [ILLUSION] AI Girl and Honey Select 2 - Card Sharing Thread . About how a big HS2 modder had orchestrated the whole thing. It was very sus of how it went down. Because, I a frequently visited the KK and HS2 sharing threads. And, as I and several more users can attest. There had been no trace of that content of any kind being shared before.
Not going lie, it left a bad taste in my mouth about how it went down. But, came to the realization that. We can't blame any of the moderators or Sam, here on F95 for what they did. If they did not do what they did, it would put the whole site at risk of being shut-down.

Well, you might be wondering; why I held on to such evidence and did not share my findings immediately?
Simple, it was still a very hot topic at the time and probably not a popular one among the moderators.
So, I thought, why not give it some time and give everyone chance to have their wounds heal first.
It would have done nothing but add fuel to the fire. It wouldn't have helped anybody, really helped. We were still grieving from it's lose. I know this because, I wanted answers like everyone else did. So, almssearch for a such truth. But; it still wasn't satisfying at all. I didn't feel any better. All I did was confirm something that we already knew.
So, I have been waiting for the right time to share this.
Now, feels right.
If anything, we should be blaming the perpetrator for his vile actions and thanking Sam and the moderators that do what they have to. To keep this site running, year round.

Well, as for the first part of your question: there is still a decent following for this type of simulation game. Maybe, not as much as when it first came out. But, Honey Select 1 and 2 can be used as a first or third-person animation, scene simulation game. Or as a type of content creator using the "StudioNEO/StudioNEOv2" to create characters, character poses, animations and even games. But, now there are some even better simulation game engines with much better graphics, like "VAM" for instance. But, still for others like myself. There is a certain; I guess call it, nostalgia associated with it. Plus, I personally like the Honey Select, DAZ, or VAM-style characters all about the same. Maybe lean a little to more realistic. but, I always find myself drawn back towards the Honey Select look-esthetic for some reason.
Since, there are a ton of mods that can enhance your experience. Rather it be your favorite waifu from a game, or anime. Or be it maps and assets to make something like a scene in the Studio.
Therefore, there was/is a market and an apportunity for money to be made. And as we all know and see all around us, money makes people do stupid things. No one is really excempt from money and greed to be able change someone. And like we often see in the business-side of things. Not too suprising that it turned into some seriously cut-throat techniques as a way subdue, control or generally manipulate someone else.
The HS2 mod creator known as GDC. They, got a pretty good following from their clothing mods mainly. They, had the great idea to try and make even more money. But, the way it went down was outright pitiful. Some of the things I heard were; but not limited to: cyber bullying, getting other modders' newly-released content's download links taken down, and some of the lesser types of blackmail or coersion. Just downright generally morally ambigulous types of behaviors you'd expect more from a military blackhat-type operation. To mostly, an always been peaceful community of mod creators. Of course the worst being, and I'm assuming here: the act of searching for, downloading, and uploading of 'below age' content.
Just to spite and subsequently circumvent the sharing of; ultimately their own content, and others by default.
I'd say it's a reprehensive enough action to call for a career suicide.
