This game is fucking ridiculous. Every item symbols I have found are just nothing. Most of playing based on luck rather than skill or learning... BTW I have no fking clue how to get rid of that damn Cat bitch and I have no idea whats the stupid cable items works for.

Cat girl you just run from her and hide. She's only special in that she goes invisible. You can still hear her and see her footprints though. Cable item lets you turn on lights which I guess lets you look ahead when you are on that floor.

Also they wont work if you don't have them selected as the prompt wont appear.
