I was a fan of the original renpy game, if he just stuck with that, that game would probably be finished by now. I don't want to beat on a game for being super buggy, so I'll try to be constructive.
I get it's still early, but the demo doesn't incentivize people to shell out money for it. This game has so much effort put into it, but I don't see the purpose. Maybe the full game does something with the open world experience, but I'm left here scratching my head. Game developers need to stop and ask themselves: does this improve the game, who does this appeal to, and where is the effort being spent? Because this all looks like a step down from the renpy version, both in model quality and game experience.
Ultimately, this makes me think of the developer as temperamental, and any payoff is a long ways off if not outright abandoned. The original got abandoned for this just as it was getting there.
