Good art is great, but well-done text-based NTR is fantastic
Yeah. Pretty much every review I do, I say "The art matches the previews, what you see is what you get," and then focus on the pacing and writing quality.
Goblinboy did some pure text stuff, and while I enjoy camping with Becky, it had a lot of quirks to it, it's kind of fun in a novelty way, but not great. Still, I happily enjoy no graphical element at all.
and the reverse (in my opinion) is also true, an ntr game with great art but godawful writing is just not going to do it for people who like the genre
I disagree. For me and you, sure, we put a lot of stock into writing, but for a ton of people, they see the 99% trash that they've been fed in the genre and just love getting anything on that level. Better visuals will make them goon harder. They aren't concerned that the writing was done by someone who has never spoken to a human being outside their own family, they'll praise the relationship because the girl is hot.
They have never known better outside maybe one example in their life, they unconsciously abandoned the idea of writing mattering.
Maybe I'm a pessimist, but I've seen so much of it and it hurts my soul
