Can't say that I am looking forward to that, that's what most (bad) sandbox game do. You spend a lot of play time fast forwarding to the right moment.
I prefer the classic adventure style approach which House Party has. Only a few adventures use ingame time (Resonance for example or Gabriel Knight 3). From a storyteller perspective it's a nightmare. GK3 however had a good twist for it. If you were not at the right place at the right time, you would miss an event (or could not take fingerprints from a glass for example) and therefore not have the information at the grand finale (Agatha Christie Style). Gabriel would then make quite a fool of himself.
It can work, but you really need some talented writers and designers for hat, if you don't want a boring click-wait-click-wait-repeat game.
