How common is the word "muff"? (in US-english)

In my game I need to write the word for pubic hair. It's a conversation that the protagonist is having, and I was going to have her call it a "muff", but I want to check how common this term is.

As English-US is the most common language for my audience I don't want to use a term that's will stand out as being weird.

The conversation is something like "want to see my muff?" "Is it a hairy muff?" etc.

Is that normal and natural language?

Please don't! It's a disgusting term to describe pubic hair, phonetically the word "pubes" sounds better.

Besides both words, hairy & muff, more or less describe the same thing. Pubic hair is hairy is pretty much like rain is wet if you get my meaning. ;)

Thanks Emoon! I will avoid it and use "pubes" instead.

So, like:
"I have some pubes"
"I will show you my pubes"

It's always plural & never singular, right?
There's no singular word for a pubic hair?

Pubes is an alteration of Pubic hair and there is no singular version for it, at least not that i know of. A single pubic hair is called the same as the whole area of pubic hair.

How you use it depends on the context.
Pubes is more commonly used by young adults or teenagers rather than adults. Adults tend go for the term pubic hair.

Taken your initial sentence i would phrase it like:
"You want to see my pubic hair?" (For an adult person)
"You want to see my pubes?" (For a young adult/teenager)

For the second question i would go for an indirect question, but again i don't know the context so it might be unfitting.
Instead of "Is it hairy?" i would use something like "Is it all natural?", this way it sounds a bit less crude in my opinion.

That's the crux right there. You do see the term "muff diving" in US-focused porn settings but there you also see "ass crack" and "fuckstick". If the character is supposed to be a crass teen or porn-obsessed slut that's great but from a "normal" woman you'd expect to hear something more like "oh, I didn't shave" if she's embarrassed or "like my bush?" if we stick to an explicitly sexual context. "Pubic hair" definitely is the term to use when they come off such as when you "inspect" a pair of used panties.

But outside of full-on dirty talk I would consider any variation of "do you want to see my hairy pussy?" as more of an expression of disbelief or even a challenge as opposed to an actual honest question.

Brit here. Muff isn't that common in England. Also, no idea what the guys above are talking about cos over here muff, beaver, twat, lady garden, pussy, minge, cunt, fanny, sideways smile, tuppence, nunny, flange and velvet box all means "vagina". :p

However, beef curtains and meat flaps refer exclusively to the folds of the vagina, hence the term "wipe it on her curtains" (it means "wipe your cum on her pussy lips").

But we do say "muff" as in "ear muff" now and again. "Muff" as in cunt is a dying word in England.

Don't forget the one where in order to have sex you sex her sex with your sex, as an exclusive lesbian :ROFLMAO:

And I've seen both "cunt" and "twat" more often referring to the whole person, though usually of irrelevant gender. (Thanks Frankie Boyle!)

Oh yeah, "Sex" was used! Also, Honeypot, I forgot that one. :p

Though thanks to you, I now remembered Mel B from Bo'Selecta explaining how she and Patsy Kensit do it. XD
