Dev lost almost all credibility a while ago. While it's true that it's your game and you should make what you want. However the popularity this game had in the beginning was built on the foundation of what the game was implied to be, which was a light hearted game with a unquie take on mind control. But then out of no where, he tried to pull a game of thrones and subvert expectations with the Laura paths were the game started taking some dark paths. Then as expected of a fan base who was being sold one product but then received another he got a ton of backlash, he tried to save face by making a few changes then went back on course.
By this time he had already done the damage and lost alot of support and shown to his audience that he's accepting of pure pressure, lacks will or conviction and willing to be builled into change. So some of his top supporters whom liked that darker shit, convinced him to do more of it, since it's already there, hence the broken watch shit. Now his support is a fraction of what it used to be and because of this, he's taking longer to make the game. It's alot easier to make games on honey select than it is to make them with DAZ, the hold up becomes morale is down because support is down. He keeps going because at least he's making the game he wants.
Now moral of the story is. Be up front about what you WANT to make, this way you don't fucking trick yourself into believing that people are enjoying what your making. I don't blame anyone other than the Dev for the backlash or loss of support. Had he been honest to begin with, he wouldn't have gotten as much support as he did, then he wouldn't have had a dip in morale.
Second lesson to take away here. Don't be bullied or bought into changing your story. Several times this creator has allowed his Patreons and fans dictate the direction of the story, but then he himself is never happy with it and then neither is anyone else. Most people don't have a clue what that want nor have the slightest fucking clue on how to tell a good story, they just want to add edgy shit and shocking shit for shock value and memes, and as many kinks as they can get away with for porn.
All of this is just my opinion from the little that I've followed and everyone is welcomed to disagree and prove me wrong. I wanna again express that this is an opinion. I'm not an authority or expert on the lore here and just giving a take on the little bits I've been able to follow. Would be happy to hear your thoughts.
Now as far as the future goes. It's a no brainer that you give what the majority wants last. I've no doubts in my mind that it's all still coming. Once he's back working on the shit people actually want, support will pick up again, then so will morale, followed by faster updates. He's not going to abandon those paths as they are clearly the money makers. So just be patient, allow him to finish all the dumb shit for the people that don't think it's dumb shit and pray that he isn't influenced into more dumb shit.
Then you will get your pregnant and harem paths with less shitty endings.
My personal opinion about finishing the most desired outcome last is the following, yes its generally a good idea to keep support going, BUT, you can kill alot of support this way as well. You lose alot of people who get tired of waiting for the product they desire, meanwhile generally, not always but most of the time, people who push and push for edgier content, are the same people who will wait it out the longest. The reality is, Edgier stuff is alot more scares so they have less options to abandon you for, while on the other hand, pregnancy and harems are alot more common and you could easily be replaced when people get too tired of waiting, which is clearly what we see happening here.
So unless you get a huge cult following like with Milfy City or WMV, it's a bad idea to keep the majority of your audience waiting, the reality is, there is a limited amount of financial resources and support for games like this and many options and opportunities for some genres more so than others, therefore I personally believe that it would have be more intelligent to finish the harem pregnancy paths first.
