i got that quest after i got the ending where i persuaded the guard through giving him a potion, then after the game said "that's it for 0.2.0" it let me know that i could also check what'd happened if i chose to go around to see another way then the game gave me that quest.

When you go to the crater after talking to the guard, you take a left instead of paying him, fighting him, etc... Solve the puzzle and then get past the enemies in the next area. There'll be a cliff where Sarah reads his mind with a spell and we find out he wants a cider.
