Actually, I don't like RPGM, because it is loading longer on slower pcs (I have 9y old laptop and sometimes it actually crash, the engine, not the laptop) and this might limit your player base. While on RenPy if the story is boring I just hit the tab button but this might be "double-edged sword" sometimes the text might contain useful info.

Most people do read the story but yes they do get angry with no sex scenes since it is a porn game and should have some. If you look at Love and Submission it is popular with not much sex yet only like two BJ's.

I disagree with you and apparently, according to the survey, I'm far to be the only one.
You are right on one point, all of us are here for the "adult" content of the games, but it doesn't mean that we all forgot that there's a whole world outside and that this world is full of games without it.
So, yes it's not why I am here, but if suddenly a game appear with a really good story, I'll not say "hey, I'll not play this game, there isn't nude !". No, I'll play it because for once I fell in love with the story, and will not really care about the lack of nude and sexy in it.
And I have two examples which immediately cross my mind,

. Both have an intriguing and well written story (for the second one I'll even say "excellent"), and have a real success. This despite the fact that there's almost no adult content yet in both.

Anyway, if the game is here, it's because there will be nude and sexy in it at one point. If people complain when a game lack of "adult" content, it's mostly because there isn't anything to make the game interesting without it. They, then, feel betrayed and say it. But if the story is really good, at the end of the actual content you don't even remember if there where nude or not ; just that you past a really good time playing this game.
Obviously, you'll always found some people who will complain because of this. On a forum with more than 800 000 members, we can't all be the same. But mostly these people are lost here. There's way better sites for the fast fap they search.

On replayability, it's perfectly understandable. Speaking in very general terms, when a game has alternate routes or alternate endings, the content is somewhere in the realm of 50-80% the same on the second playthrough. It just makes sense that you'll use certain pieces of a game regardless of the path because it's less work that way. I'm working on a VN now with alternate endings and a lot of it comes down to your choices in certain situations. The outcomes are different (dialogue, stats, ultimately scenes) but the situations for those choices remain very similar. Now I'm personally trying to keep the VN small in scope, so maybe I'm a bad example. I honestly don't care if people replay my VN when it finally comes out. I think you should be able to play through the way you want and get whatever ending you get.

Others have already commented, but I didn't see this exact thing said, and that is: The survey didn't ask do you like games without sexual content, it asked if they pay attention to the story or just get to the sexy times. Obviously, if you're playing an adult game, you're gonna want adult content, but I think, as the survey seems to indicate, people are playing adult games because they have a story that gets them invested in the adult outcomes. If all they wanted were the nudes then why play at all?

That's people on this website, that means nothing to a game popularity.

We've got insanely popular games on here with no sexual content whatsoever. In fact, some of the biggest VN's around have no sexual content like Doki Doki and Steins Gate.

A lot of us here care more for the story. It's like we keep saying, if we want porn we'll go to pornhub.

I'd also love your source on that majority you mention. There are thousands of people on this site and the majority don't speak. A few vocal numpties whine about games with no sexual content but they are no way near the majority.

So, the issue, as I suspected, is empathy. When I play a female protagonist, she isn't me, she's a story I'm following. One of my favorite games is I Love Daddy, and lets be real, even as a dude who doesn't mind other dudes, her daddy isn't attractive to me at all. He's a fucking meat slab. But he's attractive to her, and that's what I am able to empathize with.

For you, you can never fully empathize with the way the character feels and instead attach your own feelings to them. That means that when they get fucked, because you failed to see things from their perspective, you're seeing it as you getting fucked.
