Hello everyone,
I would like to open a discussion and ask for your opinions on something. Recently, we started wondering whether we might be making a mistake somewhere without realizing it.
Lust Therapy includes multiple fetishes. We make a conscious effort not to force players into any fetish they do not want. As an interactive visual novel, player choice is something we genuinely care about.
Despite this, lately we have noticed that many people who openly state that they hate NTR are still spending time playing our game, especially judging by our itch.io ratings and feedback from other sources.
On our game page, we clearly state:
-Which fetishes are present in the game
-That NTR exists
-And most importantly, that NTR can be avoided
Even so, we receive rating comments such as “NTR slop” or “NTR trash,” along with low ratings.
We have never claimed that there is no NTR in the game. On the contrary, we openly explain that even if it exists, players can choose to avoid it. Yet these players still play the game and then react negatively to that specific content.
We are not a very old or established team in the NSFW game development, so we are genuinely curious:
Are we missing something here?
To us, this situation feels similar to a vegan going into a restaurant that openly serves meat and then complaining about why there is meat on the menu. Even when the restaurant says, “We also offer salads if you prefer,” the response is still, “No, the fact that you serve meat at all is disgusting.”
Are we standing in the wrong place here, or is this simply something NSFW game developers commonly experience?
We truly appreciate your thoughts and feedback. Thank you in advance.
