VN Ren'Py In The Shadows Of Ashwood [Ch.1] [Lament Entertainment]

i admit, my first play through i thought this is gonna be a pass. then i saw some remarks in passing on the thread a day later and felt like i missed something, i didnt. but on my 2nd play through double checking, the parts that were off putting id already new to expect and just paid attention to the story.

turns out i kinda like it. definitely waiting on next release, i think its go potential.

also, gotta ask. what am i missing in the dialogue with the vamp girls, did they move next door to MC cause they followed him from their abandoned house which he turned into his hiding place? im certain its not coincidence they live next door to the guy who hangs around the place they had their coffins. but i cant recall any mention between the vamps about intentionally moving next door to him. its obvious mommy vamp is attracted to him for some unknown reason. seems like something that would be brought up, so was it and i skimmed/or forgot already, or not brought up yet?

edit cause i got sidetracked and forgot. . . im glad i gave it a 2nd go, cause ive been waiting for a good vamp harem VN since my favs have all finished or moved on to parts of the story i dont give two shits about and waiting for it to advance to the next stage of content, which is likely a year or two from now. bah. at least ive got this to look forward to now.

There are still things to be revealed as far as them moving next door to the mc.
It will be brought up soon enough.
I didnt feel like dumping a lot of explanation into the first chapters dialogue.
Trying to avoid some of the mistakes I made in my first game/vn/kn.

I just want to add, that I want to add sexual content to the game soon, but I dont want it to feel too unnaturally paced, and I dont want it to seem too abrupt. For the next couple of chapters, there may be optional content for that.
This way, you can choose not to engage if u care more about natural progression and sexual content that doesn't feel out of place. However you would be able to choose to go ahead with it if you care a lot about sexual content.

However, canon intercourse, will come about naturally with a specific character, and after that, the doors will open to a lot more sex. (this specific characters scene will be skippable, but it will happen as it's the catalyst to the mc's desires.
Not trying to spoil anything, but I want to point all of this out ahead of time before the "there's no content yet" crowd starts making posts about the lack of sex.

All of this is not to say that there wont be eye candy, nudity and/or sexual-type situations along the way.

I'm trying to world-build for the first few chapters and introduce everything and everyone that matters in the beginning.
After that, sex will become more normalized.
Please try and be patient.
This game has a decent momentum so far, and I don't want to ruin it with things that would feel out of place.

My only regret with playing this game so "early" is that there's only one chapter.
I kind of expected more content considering the 1gb size. That's not a criticism, I'm just sad that I have to wait for more content now.

well, they were pretty quick with under 2-month updates with Ravenous, hopefully juggling 2 won't change that much.

What's the long-term plan length wise? I know Ravenous had 3 arcs planned so is roughly half done.

From the point of Ravenous's conception, it was written and planned out so that 3 arcs finished everything up, without moving into milking territory, or reaching for further plotlines that would get thinner and thinner.

In The Shadows Of Ashwood is being approached differently. I have plans for it. Long term plans.
However, I am waiting to solidify any kind of ending as Ashwood is a much bigger place than Hollowbrook, and much more alive. (literally and figuratively).
There are a lot of possibilities for the Ashwood game, as i don't feel like its bound by the same circumstances as Ravenous.
Maybe that makes sense to you, maybe not lol.

That being said, there IS a story/plot to Ashwood, but its' longevity is more forgiving than ravenous plot/story, and more flexible.

So...I don't know when it will end, but I'm sure it will be at LEAST as long as Ravenous. At a minimum.
