Interesting that you mention the elevators
. Yes, especially these are so annyoing.
Additionally:
- Confusing mini-map without environment structure (like when hitting M key)
- Highlighted points are still shown in mini-map, even when there's nothing to do anymore.
- Often the points where I have to go are not shown in mini-map at all.
- No height level is visible in mini-map. Often I run around, looking for stairs or elevators, run up and down, wait for the f*cking elevators to arrive - just to find out, that I'm still in the wrong height level and/or that the highlighted point is not where I want or have to go. These elevators are sooo slow - and they are absolutely everywhere.
- The levels are feeling like a maze to me. Many locations look exactly the same, feel like running around in circles. Then suddenly enemies appear out of literally nowhere (with some super cool scripted cutscene). Many enemies! And then, after the enemies are killed, I find out that it's a dead-end. I find a box with some weapon upgrade stuff I already have 3-4 times. And then there is... literally nothing! I have to go back 300 meters of the exact same path and look for another dead-end with some other stupid decryption mini-game.
- Using the powers (from the weapon change pause menu) never worked for me. I tried several times, but it seems I don't understand the mechanics behind this to use it properly.
- There is so much to read or to listen. Yes, it's a role play game. In Life Is Strange there was much uninteresting stuff to find and read too. But there it was okay for me. In ME1 it's too much for me and doesn't catch my interest.
The story in general is good, yes. I watched a Let's Play Video now and the construct of the Reapers, Citadel and so on is really impressive, understandable and somehow mind-blowing.
But with this crappy gameplay, stupid levels and so much to read I wouldn't have finished it anyway. The player knew the game from earlier and knew where to run. But even with that knowledge it took so many hours to finish.
