Minor bug: The floating description windows don't always come up in the same place, and sometimes the "build" window is off the screen:

I will say in a very positive note. All the content was ported over. So it's not a TiTS situation from Flash to Java piecemeal. Everything from .55 is here that I can tell.

However. there is a noticeable bit of...stutter that happens when moving to certain areas (Garden is the big one for me). Honestly I applaud the decision and SPEED with which a full engine move was done...but part of me wonders if scope creep may be hitting a bit."

Also one thing to keep in mind. Unity does not Autosave like Renpy does. So if you fuck up a choice here and there well...
I was also worried that this game might turn into a heros harem guild situation. so commented about it, and I thought the dev had some pretty grounded responses.

My comment - "I love the game and I cant wait for future versions. I mean no disrespect when I say this. When I read the answer to the "What kind of benefits question" it reminded me on the game Hero's Harem Guild. That game has been in limbo for a few years now, with infrequent updates due to the creator trying to constantly push the boundaries and add in different mechanics like fishing and mining. Based on what I have seen from that game, I would like to raise caution against focusing too much on mechanics that dont directly improve the story or NSFW experience of the game. as these are the core mechanics that have drawn in me and others in the first place. Again sorry for assuming that might be something you do. I just wanted to give some perspective."

Dev's response - "I can 100% understand the trepidation. However, for me, the inn system was always a way to introduce other ways of having more girls to bone without needing an in-depth story for them." "I definitely realize that this is a NSFW project first, and a game second. (or equally? depends on who you ask) Any game play features going forwards are always going to be used as a vehicle for delivering more adult content to players, and not just for the sake of gaming, or things like that."

My takeaway - The response put some of my anxiousness at ease. Im still going to be a little cautious until i see updates coming out with regularity again. I think updates used to happen every 3-4 months. Also, since you have to start a new game, I am probably not going to play until I know for certain there isnt any save issues. I think that the inn feature could be a good way to avoid character bloat that happens in a lot of harem games. You know when there is like 15 side characters that arent really in the harem but have backstories and character development for some reason. all they end up doing is taking time away from the real characters. Im sure people are always asking for different monster girls to be in the game. its a good way to satisfy the audience without expanding the roster too much.

A few things.
I've read the Q&A and you mention it being a little heavy on the ram side... mine's idling at 7+gig currently. That's incredible... how on earth did you manage to get it to do that in the first place? I've got aaa titles and custom minecraft packs eating less ram.

Regarding text speed, could the max speed please be instant? Yes 300 is fast, but it's still loading and I personally find it a nuisance.

And honestly that's about as far as I managed to get before being annoyed with creating rooms and furnishing them.
The original game form fitted storytelling well. It seems like what you've transitioned into is a "Fantasy Inn tycoon" game, and while it's not for me, I wish you the very best with it. I'll give it another go in a couple of releases and see how things are looking.

I kinda have a weird question. Why this game heat CPU so much? And looks like it doesn't use GPU at all.

Content is good and new mechanics are decent. Game is a bit buggy though, especially with dialogue.
attached is a save with decent progress, however I saved during dialogue, which results in the game not loading the save correctly, displaying a white screen plus the mc's hair.
Not sure how to remedy this, so for now i suggest making multiple saves and saving often just in case something happens

Why is Unity synonymous with "is going to eat all of your GPU" poor optimization or what? There is no world that this should take up more resources than Cyberpunk.

I get like 3000 FPS in this. Just cap the frame rate to your monitor's native refresh rate in nvidia control panel/radeon chill or with rivatuner, that might sort it.
It's not uncommon for early versions of unity games to not have a frame cap.

Have to say, I haven't had any problems so far (I do have a nice machine to run it on, so that may have helped) ... I also miss rollback, but I agree there's no way the room build would have worked in Ren'Py, so if that was your goal all along, I get why you did the port, but it is a habit from playing in Ren'Py that's hard to adjust out of.

I also can't even fault you for starting in Ren'Py knowing you'd need to changeup eventually, since it's clearly the more popular system here. But I can understand someone having stronger feelings against the move (although they've had months to prepare mentally).

I haven't seen a lot of games ported from one to another (just the end result), so can't compare.

Thanks for generating Linux builds dev! I'm very excited to look at the inn-building stuff.

The Linux build has the executable for 0.06c, and the data for 0.06d. Is that on purpose?

Sadly, the Linux build does not work. It opens and prints some info lines about missing a boot.config file. It closes after a while without showing any graphics or even spawning a window.
The exact log is below. The log is the same when run with or without sudo (basically admin perms for Windows users)
This is weird since there is a boot.config file in the data folder.

It seems to me like either the 0.06c executable is looking for the 0.06c data folder and not finding it, or there is something more wrong. Is there some way to enable more debug options so that I can help debug this for you?

EDIT: I tried to run the windows build via proton and it promptly locked up my PC lmao, will try again later. It did reach the main menu though, and the music kept playing.

Unfortunately the mislabeled Linux file was a mistake I made during the build. I’ll be uploading a (hopefully) fixed version sometime today. Someone on itch.io had success renaming the Linux version to the correct letter version, so that might help in the meantime?

I will say in a very positive note. All the content was ported over. So it's not a TiTS situation from Flash to Java piecemeal. Everything from .55 is here that I can tell.

I’m going to do my best to avoid scope creep. The inn building in its entirety is a way for me to deliver more adult content to the player while adding a little engagement to the gameplay. Hopefully enough to be an adult game, not just a slideshow.

As a side note, the game does auto save, at the beginning of every conversation and right before every choice. If you just press the up arrow on the keyboard, it will jump to the most recent
I don't think Renpy could have pulled this off. You build rooms and halls in a 3D space, fill them with furniture that has stats, ect.

It's VERY "Sims" like. My concern however is still scope creep. If it is pulled off well? Hot damn. But it has the potential to get too tedious or overshadow other things.

EDIT: The Inn building part has now bugged and taken my camera hostage. It pans to the edge of the grassy lot and I cannot get it free. Nevermind. Hitting Escape did it. Good call on a "forced reset camera." but may want to advise players how to do it.
Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll be sure to let players know what to do in event of a camera lock, and make sure it’s programmed correctly so the player can get out of any camera locks.

the game sucked all my 8gb of ram, then after a few minutes it stabilized at only 500mb
The initial startup is an issue at the moment, and basically what is stopping the Android version from being a thing. I’ve already started working on more in depth optimization, so hopefully I can get a much more lightweight version out within a week or two.

This bug has haunted me for the entirety of the dev cycle for this patch. Every time I think it’s fixed it comes back. I’ll try again for the next patch, but I have little hope haha.

The text speed can go to instant, it’s just if you drag the slider all the way down to zero. I get this is counterintuitive, so I’ll make sure to add in a note on the options screen.

As for the RAM usage, I believe it has to do with how Unity loads images that are referenced but not active. I’m already working on several fixes, so hopefully this will be fixed within a week or two.

As for the new game style, if it’s not your type of game anymore, I completely understand. The only thing I will say is that the VN part of the game will not be abandoned or suffer. If you want to completely ignore the inn part after the first quest is done, nothing will stop you from enjoying the rest of the game. But either way, thank you for your feedback.
I kinda have a weird question. Why this game heat CPU so much? And looks like it doesn't use GPU at all.
See above, need to change how the game is calling images. Shouldn’t take too long.

Saving and loading during dialogue was always a bit iffy. I got it working like 90% of the time, but I couldn’t make it 100%. I’ll be trying to make it more consistent in the future.

From those screenshots, it doesn’t look like a bug? It’s a bit confusing, looking at it now, but “Guests Arrived” aren’t added to “Current Guests” until the next night. So in the second screenshot, you have 2 guests carried over, then one new one arriving for a total of 3.

I honestly thought I had capped FPS by code. I’ll take another look at it, thank you.

So not a bug, but it is a bit confusing.

So if there's a day where no guests leave and no guests arrive, the "total guests" should then match how many rooms are occupied. I'll watch for that.

You really ruined the game with this update - i have been waiting nearly a year for it and in vain.
It takes 2-3 min to load, it dont remember my settings and all my save's are gone.

The new engine version definitely needs some real bug-fixing. Some sort of frame rate limiter should be first priority, I wonder how many of people's complains about bad performance is just their PCs shitting themselves trying to render a jpeg 7000 times a second.
