I got it! you just have to keep increasing your inn reputation level(stars) to unlock special rooms then you can unlock the book room from camilla

I too haven't played the game since the old renpy version,but I think you are better of starting a new game instead. The game went through a major overhaul(new engine,etc.) and your old saves will likely give you errors or won't work at all.
