I think it's too early to draw conclusions, the game has very good ratings, probably some people wanted to see more scenes in the first episode of the second season of the game. Next episodes will be more interesting.

I believe people were put off by the MCs involvement with one of the characters (older man.) It was a solid Season. Tough following the climatic Season 1 which, if you choose the corruption path, was freaking awesome.
