I follow IW for quite some time and honestly it's kinda love-hate relationship, but this right here probably brought me back on board. Damn you, Joe!

Joe is the new project lead/designer or whatever. The game started as a mod for Witch Trainer and eventually became a standalone. For a really long time it was just milked and dragged out doing more or less nothing but endlessly convolute an already convoluted story without adding any kind of lewd content.
Joe took over 6(?) or so months ago as the new lead. He's made an effort to communicate here and has been open and fair about the games shitty background and all its problems. Most of the current lewd content in the game apart from the swimsuits and the McGonagall rape have been added since Joe took over. He's been open and communicative and handled himself fairly well considering the vitriol that often finds its way here. He seems on the level and has kept enough promises to be trustworthy.
The big milestone coming up is the first H-scene with a main girl, promised in the next release, as seen with the teaser image posted earlier. Presumably it's to be expected for the end of the month. A lot of people are marking that as their indicator of whether or not they'll believe it's not just a scam, but I can already see people swarming in to complain that it's only masturbation and that the girl didn't immediately jump to double penetration orgies or something.
If you haven't played before, don't bother with chapters 1-4. Chapter five has all the current work, and the other chapters are marked to be re-done once there's enough content in the game to sustain itself. You might be a little lost in story, but that's infinitely preferable to being familiar with the story as it is

I first played this game last week, I had seen it over the last updates section in the past but never really bothered to check it as I thought it was only a Witch Trainer mod. When I paid attention to the art, I saw something special in it and I'm glad I tried it. I played it since the beginning and I gotta say I agree with you, those four first chapters are incredibly overwhelming. I had never seen such a convoluted story on a weg before and the menus are quite the challenge to learn how to navigate through.
That being said, IW is one of my favorite wegs right now, not only for the art which I think is one of - if not - the best out there, but the number 1 reason for me is the progression with all characters. What really kept me thinking about the game while I wasn't playing it is the sense of progression that you have with the main girls and the side characters as well. I felt like I really built a relationship with them, rather than just completing events X and Y to unlock a new lewd option. In most games I feel as if the lewd stuff is just there as an unlockable, at the end of a storyline or mission. With IW I felt that all the girls - including McGonagall - liked me more and more as I progressed in their stories, and that's why I believed when the girls were willing to let me peek at them while they changed or accepted my unofficial requests for hanging out.
Crafting believable relationships and characters is by far the hardest part of any kind of narrative writing in my opinion, and I'm glad to acknowledge that (especially in chapter 5) Innocent Witches excels in doing just that. If you've never played it or did it a long time ago, I totally recommend you try it. My compliments to everyone on the team putting in the effort to develop a nice, beautiful game that we all hope gets a ton of naughty stuff and keeps all the character and heart it already has!

I've got to admit that I'm glad I didn't skip the first four chapters. Sure, it might seem like a slog for anyone just in it for the lewds, but it felt like a real point and click adventure game to me and I really did enjoy myself. But some of that enjoyment did come from the fact that I now know this is heading somewhere. I can completely understand everyone's frustration with this game before Joe grabbed the reigns because many of these games seem to live under constant threat of abandonment and to invest so much time in this with the chance of zero payoffs ever arriving is enough to warrant impatience to an extent.
This right here, the art is best yes, but similar to summertime saga, progressing to another lewd event is a story line and a mini quest in itself, it isn't "touch her butt 4 times to able to touch her boobs, then touch her boobs 8 times to see them etc".
The writing and the art is probably what takes so long, but for me it's been worth it. Joe's only been in charge for six months, and it's already leagues better than the first four chapters, I saw, I fapped, I came, mission accomplished.
The thing that bothers me about this site is, it's a place for piracy, no one here is paying any money, but the devs come here anyway to let us know what's up and giving us free updates, and yet people just bitch and scream about how nothing is ever good enough. It's not just this thread either, summertimesaga, whores of winter, star channel 34, so many threads on fire.

Agreed, I'm pretty sure most, if not all of the people who critize it aren't patrons. I really like this game's progression, people call it grindy, but they are just twats made impatient by horniness. Imagine being sexually frustrated by a game lmao, anyway the progression is quite logical. I hope they rework the beginning, but not much, so it won't feel like something that instantly gets into action, like, most other games are. Also, nice picture, Eve is the best gal.

But yeah, I agree. Story-wise, the game is far too early to add anything as sex or the like. Personally I like that they take the story seriously instead of simply adding random scenes everywhere. But then again, I'm not a patreon so maybe those who're actually paying for it might think otherwise.

i've played through it now, until chapter 4 and i dont know what to feel about the whole thing. on the one hand, the writing is much better than many other games, but on the other hand, who the hell plays porn games for a half baked story. even if the writing is better than, literally any other porn game, at the end of the day it's mediocre and it's not gonna carry the whole game. it needs art.
then again i'm a filthy pirate dude so my opinion is worthless as it should be tbh.
as for the whole "people are bitching cuz the next update ain't straight double penetration" well I can see what they are thinking. if this game has been going on for years without a proper sex scene other than the one in the beginning with minerva, then it does need to come out with a bang to prove its new leadership

Forget those years, think about how it is now and you'll see how fast it's progressing.
I suppose that's easy for us to say, but for longterm patreon supporters I doubt it's easy for them to just forget the money wasted.

Like always, 20$ get this month release, 10$ get next months release, free/public release month after.
Content do vary, so not certainly that the 20$ will get the new sex scene with Luna(I highly doubt its ready since they just teased it). I would more lean to the free build will see the new scene in a couple of months time. But that's purely speculations.
