VN - Ren'Py - Intertwined [v0.12.3] [Nyx]

Everything about this game was great to me until the whole drama started, it started feeling like a soap opera or teeny drama show, culminating with Melissa being angry at Andres for shouting at MC's mom when he was cheated on, I dunno maybe that gets resolved by the end of that plot point, but I just couldn't stand it anymore.

I don't like soap operas, not a fan of drama's, not a fan of cheating (sharing is fine when you know what you're getting yourself into) and these factors were starting to creep into the story earlier, but I could have tolerated it back then, but the more the story became about the side characters, the less engaging and tolerable it became for me.

I'm still giving it 2+ stars for the models and the game that I played for like the first couple hours, I'm just warning the people that if you like how the game is going in the first 3 hours or so, don't expect it to last and save your time.

If you're into stuff like that, keep going, but it will take some time to get to that.

Amazing VN. story is long, abit of a slow burner and quite obvious at times. but that doesn't take away the over-arching storyline.... extremely good.

visuals also very very good..... far too many H.O.T ladies in this novel.... can someone make it a VR so i can upload my mind and stay there forever!? hehe

lewd-scenes are well planned and animated. few and far between. but more than enough for the story.

An amazing visual novel.
Intertwined. The name really spoke for itself, the more you play the game, the more you trully feel the tittle.
The story is top notch, start off very simple but interesting but slowly took me by surprise by how complicated the relationship between the characters.

I regret not checking this game sooner. Not all the love interests are presented in the description here. Overall, varied cast, good story (you are *of course* completely irresistible to the ladies, but the writing is not too much) - It's a good game. Not as many scenes as other games, but still a decent-ish amount for the plot. They serve the story well enough.

As noted in other reviews, the animations are a bit choppy and there is no sound.

Would still recommend if you have a few hours to sink into it.

v0.8.2 Bugfix

A VN about a young man who moves back in with his mom in his old hometown and rekindles old relationships and finds some new ones. The writing is very grounded. Even though there are plenty of hot scenes, it still feels like a very slow burn game. Lots of scenes just getting to know the characters and very slice of life. I found it a bit too slow sometimes but not overly so. The renders are very good but the animations are a bit choppy. No sound at all really. Overall worth checking out.

I donot have words to describe this game. My rating says it all. There are some games in this site or in this genre which cannot be described with mere superlatives. I feel this game will easily be in top 5 of that list if not top it....

Though in recent past the updates are a bit late but the plot, renders, models, everything is top notch. The story progress is also a bit sagged in the last couple of updates. But keep it up dev, you rock I know you will revive and come back like never before..... Oh this rating may be a carbon copy of my other rating as I cannot make up my mind which one is better.

Version 1 - 7: one of the best games . Update 8: horrible - two of the main characters eliminated each other at the beginning. the next two hours were endless boredom. Please return to the good path or leave it at all.

A little bit of everything. Nice models, good writing and lovable characters. A guide might be needed as some choices are not obvious. So far, there are few timeline errors which is surprising with that number of romantic options.

Top-quartile, if you like slow burns.

There isn't a central driving narrative so you bump along from one subplot to the next; the dialog is definitely above average. Almost always believable, regularly funny, and I can't remember it ever being cringe-inducingly bad.

The models are very good, the posing is good. They took the time to give a girl wet hair after she got dunked in a pool; how often do you see that?

The love interests range from "do you in the first half hour" to "still arguably in the friend zone after 8 episodes". The setting is high school so I feel like that works, but if you're all about the l00dz this one might try your patience.

All the characters look like fitness models; basically no body variety outside of boob and butt sizes. I wanted to mention that under things-to-improve because I love to see some rounder girls.

Even if you aren't a cheat/guide person, maybe consider a cheat/guide for this one. On at least one path (Layla) I find the gating is extremely tight.

There is a ton of content and choices and the models are reall hot.

What the game really lacks is interesting scenes.

There is no interesting kinks it's all pretty vanilla.

No bdsm, no anal, no ntr, no cheating, no humiliation, no trans.

If you want really vanilla sex with a lot of different characters it works. But if you want more interesting kinks and scenes it gets kind of tame.

Reviewing [v0.8.1 Bugfix]This is an awesome game! The backstory and how all the characters lives...intertwine is just amazing. The animations and dialogue are great the fact your choices impact future events is super cool, and overall the character designs are top notch as well! Highly recommend I didn't even notice how much time passed due to how well the game is written and how entranced in the game I was I greatly enjoyed this and can't wait for the future updates! I don't easily give out five stars, but there's really no other option here. Intertwined is nearly perfect. The models are gorgeous, the characters are very believable and the story is fascinating slice-of-life that is light-hearted and serious in just the right amounts to still work as an erotic game. And it is very sexy too.

Intertwined manages to be erotic even without drowning you in sex scenes. I'm sure that is a negative thing to some, maybe even many, who are looking for a quick fix to rub one off but that's more about managing expectations. I personally enjoy the pacing a lot, especially when it is made with such finesse. The trick here is that even without having sex scenes, the scenes are beautiful and sexy - it is something many other slower pacing games fail at. The characters are good looking and their outfits, their poses and the camera angles are very well thought out to deliver sexy scenes even without nudity. Also the dialogue is witty and humorous, and there is some real drama too to deliver a satisfying reading experience.

There's still plenty of nudity and sex too! What I'm trying to say is that there's just a lot more to Intertwined than just sex.

I just don't like that the step father suddenly became an asshole when he was caring towards the MC initially and being happy that the baby MC was calling him "dad".

Well, this was a pleasant surprise!

I'll be honest, the description on this page did not give me much hope for this game. The renders are gorgeous, obviously, but the description was about as generic as possible and I’ve come to be skeptical of any game which has little text description and has no dialogue in the screenshots.

That said, holy shit was this good! I’m honestly a little annoyed I haven’t found it sooner.

The characters are well written and rather believable, with minimal “porn logic” to suspend disbelief over. Honestly the only thing that I had trouble believing was that these people just happen to run into each other so frequently in what is supposedly a big city, but even that is quickly forgotten once the story gets going.

This is an example of my favorite type of erotic story, one that is not afraid to space its steamy scenes out quite a bit in order to spend time getting to know its characters and letting them build real relationships, an approach that only makes those scenes all the better. Few games are willing to do this, and even fewer can pull it off. Intertwined shoots out of the gate with a few scenes to get the engine running and then is content to let the player build their way to satisfaction.

This leaves me with my main gripe about this game: it’s turned me into an indecisive compulsive saver. Another game story element that I love that is rarely pulled off is allowing the player to play the game like any other for a while before pulling the rug out from under them and reminding them how much of a psychopath they’ve been. A great example of this is Lessons in Love and now Intertwined can be added to the list. By doing the usual erotic game harem approach and being nice and flirty to everyone you meet this game will eventually develop into the best slash/worst scenario: Having to choose between characters you like, genuinely not knowing which to choose, but knowing that no matter what you do you’re going to hurt someone.

That’s rough, really rough, and it’s a sign of a great story that I actually cared enough to have to sit back and weight my thoughts and options before making choices. Not just asking “What option will get me laid” since it’s pretty hard to avoid fun times, but actually having to think about what each other character will think of your actions and acting accordingly.

I’d highly recommend playing Intertwined, though I’d also recommend grabbing the gallery mod. It’s pretty clear that this is a branching narrative kind of deal, and when I checked the gallery after finishing the update there were quite a few scenes that I had missed because I’d chosen a path that led to other scenes, a decision I hadn’t even realized I’d made. Play through as you want to, then enjoy the other routes in the gallery.

TLDR: Intertwined made me nervous to help someone carry their groceries to their car and I love it for that.

Easily my favourite game. Story is intresitng, girls are hot.
There is more realism to how women behave here than usual, probably because dev is also a woman.

Some not so good sides of this game are lack of sound and long breaks between releases but these are not a problem for me so 5 star stays.

Renders are good but animations are bad very bad, but that is not real reason I am giving it 2/5 rating.. Real problem is story or more pricelessly how vilified are Men presented. For some reason dev decided to present every male except MC evil or imbecile. And all women's victims. One of the best example are MC Father (Step-Father) and Mother. Andre who has raised MC as his own son is show like a evil man. His crime? didn't sucked up to his cheating wife. MC when he learns that Father is not real one, instead of showing appreciation turns on him. Instead of continuing calling him father he suddenly starts calling him "Andre".. that even after he was living with him for 5 years alone..

Relationships don't work like that.. especially Father & Son one.. I can write lot about how Mother fucked up her whole marriage. But I will say it shortly: You Don't Fucking meet with former fuck body and then act like nothing happened

Communication breakdown (spoilers)


The first half of the opening scene on the plane is a good indication of what to expect in Intertwined:
Attractive and likable characters, well-written dialogue and an engaging slice-of-life story.

Halfway through the scene I was really excited and mockingly said to myself:
"Finally a well-written scene on a plane that doesn't involve implausible sex with a flight attendant."

Oh, well...

When Alexis asked the MC to follow her to the bathroom I was expecting a clever prank by her (and the writer).
Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way - which was a huge letdown for me.

Fortunately, this is the only occasion I recall where "porn logic" prevails in Intertwined.
After this rather implausible lewd scene Intertwined returns to its former self and strengths.


Visuals

The renders and animations are good. Not the best possible, but good enough for me.

I especially like that the dev put a lot of effort into creating proper facial expressions (for example how characters look at each other) and gestures. You can also tell that the posing quality improved during the course of making this VN.

However, you can regularly spot female characters' areolas because either their clothes are too skimpy or the dev didn't pay enough attention (or both). I wouldn't mind if this happened in private, but in public scenes it's simply irritating.

I also recall how Erynn and the MC were easily floating on the water of the swimming pool like it's the Dead Sea. Not very realistic.


Sound

Unfortunately, there is no sound at all.


Characters

The MC isn't your typical natural born creep, but attractive and likable (if you decide to play him that way).
The ladies fancy him for his good looks and personality - not his "magic dick".
I still wished (at least some of) the LIs were a bit more reluctant and hard to get.

The female cast is large and diverse with distinguishable personalities and motivations.
In fact the female cast is so large and some potential LIs get introduced so late into the story that it would have been better if the dev had focused on less, but more profound characters.

The LIs are (mostly) beautiful - especially connoisseurs of dark-haired women are in for a treat:
Alexis, Elena, Gabi, Nikki, Valeria... at least I had a hard time to pick a favourite.
Layla might not be the hottest LI (and her DAZ model is overused), but she still turned out to be my favourite overall.
She's just so adorable and I like how her relationship with the MC evolves in such a sweet and heartwarming way.
I also like Erynn - she has a great personality and seems meant to be the MC's "true calling".
However, she's three years older, way more mature and in a different stage of life than him - which makes a relationship between them rather unlikely in my opinion.
I also don't find her overly attractive - her face, especially her (upper) lips, looks like she had too much surgery.


Writing

Intertwined shines whenever its characters are displayed in everyday situations.
The characters act (mostly) believable, the dialogue is well-written and often funny & witty.

While I usually don't like being able to read other characters' minds, it contributes a lot to the overall atmosphere here - that way we learn more about other characters' feelings, desires and apprehensions, especially when it comes to relations between different LIs (jealousy).

There's also a lot of well-written romance and eroticism (teasing, kissing, hugging, petting) instead of simple raw physical sex scenes. Me gusta.

However, way too often Intertwined relies on cheap and overblown drama (caused by people being unable or -willing to communicate with each other) as a plot device.
This is especially noticeable at the beginning of episode 5, but ultimately the whole story premise of Intertwined (the MC being away for 5 years) relies on a simple misunderstanding.
That's hard to believe.

What's also hard to believe is that

• especially Erynn didn't simply move on after all these years, but is still kind of obsessed with the MC,
• the MC didn't recognise Alexis when they met again on the plane,
• there's next to no estrangement between the MC and his mother (and Erynn) after all this time,
• so many characters turn out to be either related or acquainted (small world syndrome).

Last but not least Erynn's blackmail story seems completely far-fetched and implausible.

Intertwined rides on a lot of goodwill here - or rather the reader's ability to let a good amount of incredulity slide.


Choices

Intertwined isn't your typical harem simulator.
You can date a certain amount of LIs at the same time, but some are mutually exclusive.
Unlike a lot of people who seem to prefer harems (probably because they are too lazy to do several playthroughs) I really like that choices matter and cheating can potentially end relationships.

However, some choices are too obscure.
For example if you decide to check out Layla's legs at school (and praise them in front of the whole class), she likes it, but if you later decide to check out her (cute) butt at the beach, she doesn't. Girl, make up your mind!


User Interface

The UI is a bit underwhelming in my opinion.
There's no quick save / load function and you can only name individual save files, but not the save pages (which I strongly prefer).

The font is also kind of lackluster.
I understand that the dev didn't want to use a text box in order to minimise the UI, but whenever there's a bright backdrop the font becomes extremely hard to read - I ended up using a text box mod.


Conclusion

Despite some flaws Intertwined is an enjoyable adult visual novel - and you even learn a bit of Spanish.
We need more story-focused VNs like this with realistic characters, well-written dialogue and meaningful choices.
Recommended.

[v0.7] Intertwined is a unique, exceptional game that does justice to its name.

So many seemingly disparate threads are connected to each other in increasingly complex ways. Considering that this is the dev's first experience with game development, I'm at awe of what she has accomplished.

Some personal highlights:

- All women are fully realized, three-dimensional, complex characters with lives entirely independent of the MC.
- Potential LIs are just that, potential. You can maintain a genuine friendship with someone you are not in a relationship with.
- There are non-LI women. Some even in existing relationships. This is never presented as some sort of affront to the MC, it's simply the state of the world.
- Some LIs have sexual histories. This does not send the MC into an incel-adjacent rage.
- The developer is a woman, and it fucking shows in the best possible sense of the word! For all the reasons I listed above, but also because of something I noticed in a sex scene: MC has sex with someone who is a virgin, who actually says it really hurts. Not just during, but afterwards as well. It was such an honest depiction of a teenager's first time. None of this "it hurt a tiny bit at the beginning but then I loved it I came thrice oooohhh MC you are sooo amazing I love your cock" bullshit.
- Sex scenes are not gratuitous. They are relatively few, and are almost always relevant to the story.

This is one of the best VNs I've played in a long time, and I'm really looking forward to what comes next

Intertwined definitely honors its name. This is probably one of the more interconnected games on this website. It's a mixture of slow burn characters and characters that pretty much get with you instantly. It's also all makes sense and connects. Go figure.

It does come with a cost that you can't be a crazy harem and probably can't continue cheating forever.

That being said, because it's so sprawling, it comes with the cost of many different relationships all sharing screen time.

You will DEFINITELY want go through this game more than once. It's the nature of it the beast.

Some cons would be the drama, simple animations, and simple UI. The writing for the most part is really engaging and fun, but comes with some moments of silly drama that feels almost too... forced. It's fine, since the MC is his own character too.

While the h-scenes are fun, they are not as well made as some other games. I honestly don't think it's a big deal because they still feel pretty sexy.

Then the UI is slightly different, but simple. It's nothing to write home about, but it's not the default, and that's always a good thing.

Intertwined is a fantastic little slice of High School drama and sex. It's not a harem game, it's so far not about adversity, and it's not about anything crazy. Just people being people.
