For anyone who actually did the Tori route, does she ever actually show a softer side or is she always just Tori?
Yes...but with a slice of Tori to go along with it. She does actually get better....though she still loves pissing off Daryl in the process.

Not negative at all, by any means! Was just curious on a different interpretation. It wasn't directed solely at you either just happened to be the first one I found I replied to.

I definitely concur that the MC didn't see Lexi in the same light as I think Lexi saw MC. He even saw pictures at Erynn's and couldn't recognize her, other than her looking familiar.

To me, I think there was interest in the MC back in the day, just how much something it was is the question. It would be odd to go kiss someone on the cheek in a vulnerable moment like that if you didn't at least care for the person. Otherwise why have chased them, and been the *only* person the flashback to wish him happy birthday. Not even Erynn did it, in the scene we can see, and he didn't talk to her again after the scene, as Erynn said when he finally confronter her about it.

I still think Lexi's look after having her first kiss stolen was more of a shock or surprise at the moment it happened. It wasn't to push him away, glare, frown, but there is some room to interpret the surprise overrode it briefly.

But that's the beauty of a single moment in time, from the past. It's in isolation with a lot of missing context. Did Lexi have any sort of interest in the MC? She is clearly the quietest in the group so may have been really shy in those years. Were there any other scenes that could confirm or deny it?
I think what Alexis did at that moment was very caring and gentle, but doesn't indicate big prior connection, some people are nice to others just because they are nice in general.
Some people give up their sits on the subway, some pretend not to see an old person...

Alexis saw a kid hurting and tried to lift up his spirits... her words in that scene didn't sound like "i wish you gave the flowers to me instead", just general "keep your chin up" stuff.

I think before the backyard she may have "liked" him in the way you might think the friend of your friend is a nice guy.

The only other reference to how much they were connected before the backyard is when Erynn says this:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
They are confronting and speaking directly to each other, no reason for that to be a lie, perhaps it's an exaggeration? There must've been at least a couple of "good morning, nice to see you" lol.

But nothing that indicates huge prior connection, much to the contrary, they never talk about any past events where they were together... besides the obvious one i mean.
And like we previously touched on, the MC has no idea who she is at all... not something that happens with people you have some relationship... on the plane he's slightly fearful about how meeting Erynn again will pan out, he still hates and remembers Ethan, but Alexis doesn't even compute... Heck he recognizes fucking Zach right away .

I'm having a hard time deciding which path to play first. I want to see Erynn's beach date as I've been waiting for that forever, then there's Val's beach date.
But then I want to see the redone Lexi content and all of the new stuff on her path. Nice problem to have for sure.
I will play them all, but you can't beat the first time IMO.
I'll be taking my primary save to the end, it's Erynn + Layla with a side order of Gabi , the travel will be just to see Nathan since i broke up with Nikki in this one.
It's a relatively straightforward one for the mess of girls tripping over each other that i usually make lol.

Second... the big messy one, Alexis, Val, Erynn still wants in, Gabi, Nikki... hopefully some fights and angry chicks this episode lol.

For anyone who actually did the Tori route, does she ever actually show a softer side or is she always just Tori?
She's starting to soften up but doing her best to hold up her tough chick act.
Each time she cracks a little bit, she denies and says something bitchy right after.

To play devil's advocate....as much as I like Erynn, she is a girl (and probably always was) who is far too wrapped up in herself to to really notice who Lexi ever spoke to and when.

I agree with you, but doesn't Lexi reply to Erynn that that's not true?

I thought this was one of the breadcrumb mystery deals Nyx drops in every now and then that later gets revealed.

Im instantly regretting my decision to be a zach in my playthroughs.

Yeah, not to belabor this point, but if we take the context clues, the indication seems to be that she came across him on her way home. If she had walked the other way, that scene would've never happened. It doesn't make what she did any less sweet; it's just something to consider.

That's what makes the flashback scenes so tricky.

Erynn's flashback tells some details, Lexi when she tells her side seems to me to imply a slightly different purpose. Again, I'm reading between the lines, but when Lexi tells you about the scene it just feels like there was more to it than courtesy. But I could be way off. :coffee:

It's hard to say, but the indication seems to be that he was Erynn's shadow. He wouldn't have been there if Ethan or Alexis had their druthers. Erynn was probably right when she said that. That being said, that legit has nothing to do with the present, and I think even Erynn realizes she was being irrational in calling dibs on Mc because she knew him in the past and being mad at Alexis for going after him.

It's not a reply, she just thinks that to herself but doesn't say anything.

Of course her memory goes straight to the backyard as to why what Erynn just said isn't true... so we are back at square one, her only memory of him being the backyard...

I'm not a fan of the character(everyone knows that by now lol), but even i have to admit she was very nice in that scene... wether she ran into him by accident while leaving or she chased after him to lift up his spirits.
And yeah it's not 100% clear wether she ran into him by coincidence or intentionally.

I also like Erynn, and i also think this is fair enough lol.
Sometimes she's perceptive, but most of the time super aloof.

I still lean towards Alexis and Mc not having major connections prior to his return, most factors point this way, not just aloof Erynn.

Well from what you two say then maybe i will try and give her route a try someday. Probably after I've probably done everyone else's first. Though I'm always kind of amazed that Tori even has a route.

One of my many favorite scenes, is when MC locks Erynn and Lexi into the room and even threatens to get them a bathroom bucket if they take too long. There's a lot of fantastic storytelling scenes with Erynn if you go sole Lexi path.

And yeah, he was Erynn's shadow. They were best friends, she even dressed him up in her clothes and makeup. There is at least one scene where he sees a picture of himself dressed up.

And on the Lexi path when Erynn and her have their argument that Lexi makes it sound like Erynn didn't fully grasp some elements. I still think it comes down to her being too shy within the group dynamics.

I think what complicates things is there is a LOT of vagueness between the two. You only get what Lexi thinks in the argument, and what she tells you about the moment if MC is on her route. Erynn's retelling doesn't have the same details post-MC leaving that Lexi does, but as Erynn wasn't there that's not surprising.

If Lexi really had zero connection with MC, then why stop? Why would she feel he needed to be consoled, wished happy birthday, and then kiss MC on the cheek? Yeah I'm reading between the lines, but it just doesn't strike me as something someone with zero interest/connection would do.

In the flashback, the MC never says it's his birthday and Erynn never says it, so how does Lexi know? She can't just have guessed, and there's no indication they hung out earlier in the day based on Emily's conversation with the MC when he goes over there. If MC and Lexi had no connection at all, why would she even know his birthdate? Again, some of the pieces just don't fully add up in my mind. I don't think it was a mutual connection, but I just get the feeling that Lexi may have had some interest in MC, and comes across as very shy about it.

I don't think it had anything to do with shyness. At that point, I believe that she was too mature for MC. If I'm not mistaken, they have a three-year age gap. They were not on the same wavelength. It's one thing when the kid is your next-door neighbor, quite another when the kid is a friend of a friend.

A less controversial take: As much as I'm not a fan of short hair, Iris looks much better with short hair.

It's a pretty strong memory to have. Sure at that point we see the cheek kiss, but later find out that MC stole her first kiss.

Her like for him probably manifested when Erynn would tell her how great he was and how she misses him during the 5 year separation. She never had anyone treat her how he treated Erynn, so when she had a chance on the plane, she jumped his bone.

Who knows what the gap will be now...it's only about 18 months now IIRC unless she changing everyone elses ages.

Perhaps shyness isn't the right word, but maybe "inner turmoil" perhaps? She very often thinks contradictory things, but doesn't vocalize them.

Just like the argument with Erynn, she disagrees in her head but doesn't actually say it.
In the flashback a "heh. he just stole...". 'Heh' is used like a light laugh in other parts of the game.

A less controversial take: As much as I'm not a fan of short hair, Iris looks much better with short hair.
Oh yes, agree on both counts here.... I'm not a huge fan of short hair but it looks good on Iris. As well as putting the two side-by-side with long hair is just disconcerting. I'm still waiting for the moment when they address Erynn, Iris, and Iris' dad looking virtually identical. I have my own theory of course.

She's the nasty bitch slow burn parallel to the Erynn, Elena and Val paths.

Slows burn are usually because of long term romances, lady personal problems, distance or obstacles and antagonists in the path. In Tori's case, it's the glacial, slow burn of her bad attitude.

Even Quinn's (who I'm not a fan of) soft side and an explanation of why she's a ruthless hard ass shows up faster than hers. Even the first light moment between Darryl and the MC shows up faster.

The writing of Tori's character (and Darryl's) have to be improved. She's currently very one dimensional.

I'm having a hard time deciding which path to play first. I want to see Erynn's beach date as I've been waiting for that forever, then there's Val's beach date.
I still need to do an Erynn solo run, so if Nyx has done some more rework I will use that one as an excuse to see the changes.

Otherwise I am good to go:
  • Layla
  • Layla (Alexis Secret Path)
  • Elena
  • Alexis
  • Nikki
  • Cara
  • Valeria

I know which path I'm going for, straight down, and right into ...
