Not a fan of harems, period. Even the best harem games quickly descend into complete shit and the characters you're interested in get lost behind wave after wave of forced relationships with characters you might very well have turned down earlier in the game. Even irl, the only way they work is if you literally hold that persons life or the lives of their loved ones i your hands with the power to prevent them from leaving if circumstances change. As in the difference between some Middle Eastern oil prince and you and me is that they have the power to have people quietly killed and even if they lose that power, the male still wields enough social power to have a woman killed or maimed if she tries and leaves him. That's not true of 98% of the world, thus harems don't really exist without those protections. Why do you think celebrities hit it and quit it instead of just building out their own personal harems?
Shits a bad fairytale where the inevitable outcome is you dead at the hands of a mentally unwell woman. And in regards to being used in a story, it's a nuclear bomb that destroy any character or narrative development the moment it is introduced.
You can also very easily argue that throuples don't work, but at least in terms of a game, you have the opportunity to get close to both characters while the risk of jealousy doesn't exist. It's something that did historically work, but that was due to religious beliefs and isolation. We see it attempted and failed irl on the daily in the modern era bc the tertiary woman can virtually instantly replace any guy in a throuple with another guy willing to completely devote himself to her. Women do easily outnumber men everywhere except China, but not enough so that any woman would benefit more by being a part of a throuple.
