Very good points and analysis there. While I don't find Zach at all interesting, that may be more to do with how Nyx has written him. She has clearly given some thought to his character, how to write him and progress his story, but it's not really working for me. I disliked him from the start. But I was so tired at that point of the 'friend who can't be a rival', either because he is just too weird and goofy, or gay, so that may have predjudiced me a bit. He's in a lot of games. While Nyx may be trying to play with that and make him something else, or taking it to a logical conclusion, I don't think she succeeded very well.
Completely agree about Ethan. Pure evil is just boring.
Completely unrelated - I'd be fun to have a girl who is really interesting, hot and nice in one of these games who is also gay and thus will never be a LI (as long as you play as a guy). That game thread would be almost as much fun to watch.
That sounds interesting, maybe she isn't entirely happy with how she has presented him.
My critique would be it's not just that they're evil, but they're written as so cartoonishly bumbling and impotent, like watching a an uncoordinated angry guy blinding flailing around trying to hit people. I think they'd be much more compelling antagonists if the mc ever had to worry about them one-upping him; right now they just feel like idiots who try and do their nefarious things and fail.
They're basically like Disney bad guys; evil, but ugly and feeble.
I think Emily and John's Relationship will not work longterm as it will Make Eryn MC's stepsister. I know how much NYX love to Tease, i don't think she will do incest finally.

Even though Melissa says she has no issues with them dating, i think they'll stop and keep things friendly, Emily will take a step back and prioritize her friend(despite the go ahead).

And like you said it's a repeated plot point.

Theoretically, if that were to happen it would be outside the bounds of the game. Unless Emily and John were to get married within a couple of months of meeting, the game would be over before Erynn could become MC's step-sister, so not so much problem solved as problem not there.
Or alternatively, there'd be a trigger that has Emily (or John) break it off because they don't want to get in the way of MC and Erynn's relationship (also bearing in mind that Emily+John is not canon, as there's a choice involved... actually, I always allowed Emily to date John, because I want her to be happy, but if you say "no" to that choice, is it respected, or does she go on the date with him regardless?)

if it wasn't for the fact Nyx had said 2 people will die I would agree with you. But with that third party knowledge im in constant fear of the Villains even if as villains they arent compelling.
What's the worst they can do though? Ethan doesn't look like he commands enough power to cause any real suffering to Erynn in a way he could get away with it, and he's too spineless to do something knowing he couldnt get away with it.
I mean what's Zach gonna do, spread more bad rumors? Both of them seem so harmless - mostly because they're written as no one around them likes them.

I don't disagree with you but im just saying because of what Nyx said what is going to happen I am in constant fear of them even if they aren't someone to fear. Now if I didn't have that third party knowledge I wouldn't bat an eye at them.
However after the last update I'm a little bit more scared of Ethan now because of what Nyx said and how crazy obsessed Ethan is. That phone call at the end he made me think he is either gonna get a gun and try to kill the MC and someone else is gonna get that bullet or whoever was on the other end of the phone call.

One thing that does worry me is if Ethan were to directly threaten the MC, she may ultimately give in in some way. The MC is her achilles heel, she loves him and would do anything to keep him safe.
When the MC tells her that he ran into Ethan who roughed him up and showed him the video, her first thought was "Maybe I should just do what he wants" because he was directly going after the MC now.
Zach however is just a jealous horny idiot. But how far will this jealousy, especially on the Valeria path drive him to go?
