I guess you have to blame Akabur for that. Xaljio had to hire another artist for his game, because Akabur did not make any art for him for over a year.
No what you are saying...... is so wrong in so many ways .
Anyway i am not against or forth anybody but this game yes this version almost exactly like this one is being circulated around like 5 years give or take a month i know this because i have finised high school , my draft to the military, and my country just got out from 4 years capital controls .
And the other game from them 20 december allas Akabur is way more factional they bought a couch together for God's shake.

Actually, the translator of the project wrote in their discord about this demo version.
Let me clarify things a bit.
1. IQ is mainly Dahr's project. In the sense of storytelling, characters and ideas. Dahr writes the script, draws all the art (a whole lot of really good art, I must say) and plans the stuff which should be included in the game. Dahr is very good and very fast artist who's able to perform crazy amount of work even if he feels really unwell (which, sadly, happens from time to time). A good storyteller too. But he's no programmer. He doesn't know RenPy, especially, to the extent required to bring his ideas to life. And this brings us to...
2. Xaljio. He's a professional software developer. Long time ago he helped Akabur to learn RenPy and participated in his projects. But now Akabur is a one-man band, and Xaljio has his own pet project - Library Story, which he writes, codes and translates himself in collaboration with Latissa who does the art. Also, Xaljio has his main job as, well, a professional software developer. And also he does all the coding for Iris Quest implementing all those dungeon crawling, mini-games and a few types of combat. It scares me to even imagine the thing he did to poor RenPy to achieve that. To the freaking visual novel engine, meant for, well, freaking visual novels! Which brings us to...
3. Ambitions. Dahr and Xaljio wanted to create a game of their dreams. And got a bit carried away in the process. They kept implementing complex mechanics using the engine not very suitable for that. This resulted in crazy amount of work and even crazier amount of testing and bug fixing. But that experience, while being very painful, proved to be quite useful. From now on, we plan to take measures to simplify the development process. No more complex mechanics used in a single quest (see Goblin's Curse). No more intertwining quests. And a lot more usage of RenPy built-in functionality. Etc., etc. Now that we finally have a decent combat engine, we have all required tools to speed up the process. So, let's hope for the best.
4. Could Akabur speed the things up? I think, no. As it was mentioned earlier, he's knee deep in his own projects. In the terms of coding, Xaljio is better than Akabur. In the terms of drawing, Dahr's better. But Akabur could do it all himself, he built quite an efficient process of getting the things done and also he doesn't fight furiously with RenPy engine to bend it to his will. He efficiently uses it's visual novel developing capabilities. With all that, he brought the whole genre of porn games to the shining new heights. Akabur could help us just being an example of how to organize the process properly.
5. Me? I'm just a guy who proofreads Russian text, translates it into English, performs some QA and occasionally comes up with some small ideas for the game. But perhaps, the first part of IQ will include a bit of my code as well. We'll see.

I thought like all other the game was dead, wasn't even really born, more or less like a conceived fetus being aborted before three months

But I like the concept, the art is good, and I liked that board minigame as well they released a year ago or so, my only complaint is that it's too random and hard.

good luck to both devs

Anyone know why this dev stops The Library Story , which is far better, to work on "this"?

Wait, so was anything updated? There's no update log thingie. Should I download this or is it basically the same as it was before?
Was exactly my thought whe i saw this on Latest Updates.
I jumped to Dahr's Twitter but found 0 useful information on the game update. All i spotted was a ton of reflections on gender neutral barbies, lgbtq, his artsy melancholy and all that " i'm stuggling with procrastination" type of stuff.

Neither anything informative on his Patreon. How do you know this is a real update and not fake news?

UPD: here's a link to the post announcing what they call a tech-demo:
Stiil no change-log or anything after months of hiatus...

Finally tried playing it. Fought the two pirates in an incredibly tedious and pointless feeling combat system. Went to the next room and saw I had to now fight three of the same enemy. I turned it off. That combat system alone makes me not even want to try anymore.

I really hope they will continue with this demo and add more content, story and don't try to create more minigames.

Even now, after i wasted 3 years of patreon support on them until they released that stupid minigame, still want to see more of Iris.

About secrets, afaik in the old version there were hidden areas to the south of one junktion, but i couldn't remember how to access them anymore. I wonder if the old codes for the "secretary" still work.

Edit: Ok, just compared it to the old version. There are actually many changes that you won't notice until you compare it directly.
The Map has been expanded, there are more costumes, the secretary has been changed, etc.

One big downside that i noticed is that everything is slower UI wise, including movement.

Ahahahahaha. Brilliant! After all those months, they show up with a game with no animation and just a collection of crappy pictures and mini-games? Dude.. I feel bad for their patrons right now. Judging by this piece of crap, I'm looking for the Library Story release in December. It's gonna be fun. "Only pictures" games can't compete with doujins in terms of art and plot, I don't see any point in making a game without animations.
