Pretty much.
This is how I felt when I used to be a subscriber years ago, and I made the
audacity to ask why a single page would take over 1-2 months to showcase finish, and even voiced that by doing this, a per monthly basis of $16-25 dollars depending on what "type" of membership you want is far too high for the sheer lack of content you get in return.
Of course, I was bombarded with Jabs loyal servants who spent the greater half defending him, "He has a life outside of this you know!", "It's hard to do his job, so what do you know." comments. I even stated that this is his main job, and like any comic book artists, whose pages are far more articulate, they can dish out an entire comic book within a month, or slightly more.
Considering now, Jab has his own team, he isn't doing all of the work anymore, and can simply make the base artwork, and the rest can be taken care of. Then the next question arises, what is the point of having a team if you have to wait over a month for just simply one single page to arrive?
If memory serves me correctly, their was a particular Ay Papi issue that took around a year and a half in order to finish, and it was barely over 20+ pages. You would think that with such a time frame, it would have been a novel by that point.
I also agree that many of his original works which have now been passed on to other artists who although good, they are not on Jabs level, and it's detracted me from being interested in them, which devalues the quality of the series in my opinion. The only exception to this, is Barnabie Bunny, who has a particular style that is really amazing, and so much so that he can stand on his own.
Again, when people subscribe to Jabcomix...you're expecting to well, you know...be
paying for his works, not someone elses. All of this, along with the complete snails pace of creating a single
complete issue is why many have probably left the sub.
Free is the only way to go at this point.
