Combat feels really RNG. The random enemy attacks, criticals, and misses should be enough, but every attack has a massive random damage range too. There's some general strategy like use multi-target attacks vs many enemies and use stun/blind to reduce enemy attack opportunities. But other than that, it feels like a die roll.
The feedback loops in this game also seem to totally break progression. Lust doesn't reset to 0 when you exit a level or even when you lose it resets to around 99, which is crazy bad because at 100 lust it means your character will choose random moves or skips a turn for a sex scene. There are two main ways to reduce lust, the church which requires money, and the brothel which is free but gives your character a kink. A kink is truly brutal because it's basically a permanent status effect that can only be purchased away. These kinks include one that randomly skips your turn, a couple that make you passively gain lust all the time, one that makes you sometimes get no loot from chests, one that lowers your accuracy, etc.
I feel like in a play through, either I get lucky, or I get stuck in a terrible loop where I don't have enough gold to reduce my lust and kinks, but I have too much lust and kinks to reliably earn gold. And since I'm spending most of my gold to get rid of my lust and kinks so I can't upgrade. And I can't even play carefully because lust and kinks just applies passively while walking around for some reason, and leaving early with the gold early is almost never worth it because you lose about half of your gold if you run, and you don't get much gold from chests to begin with.
Plus the controls are really ruining the game for me, when I try to interact with a world object or target an enemy it could overlap with another action. For example, sometimes chests are next to a path exit and I can't open the chest because when I click on the chest, it thinks I'm trying to exit. Sometimes my characters are infront of the chest and clicking on the chest is blocked by the characters. Sometimes my attacks just target the wrong enemy. Sometimes I chose an attack and click a target and nothing happens. I've never played a turn-based game where I felt like I was fighting the controls.
I have to ask before I give this game a bad review; Am I missing a mechanic that would make this game feel more strategical and less like a slow rng grindfest? I've spent quite a few hours on this game, and it really feels like I'm getting nowhere, it's miserable. I'm normally not quick to blame the devs, but I really do feel helpless with this game. What should I be doing differently? Am I just playing wrong?
