Status Update #32 - August 31st, 2025

Apologies for missing the past week of these status updates, I'll be back to my normal posting schedule now!

Things are coming together nicely for Ep. 2 Part One, but I'm still not sure whether it will be ready for September. The main obstacle is going to be the animation and whether it can be finished in time. I hope to have a definitive release date announcement for you by the end of the month.

In addition to writing the script, this week I've implemented a "Skip Scene" button that will be part of the game from now on if you want it to be (you can turn it on or off in the options menu). Thankfully, I haven't recieved many negative reviews, but the ones I have were all complaining about "unskippable lesbian content" in the story. While Duvessa does have one sex partner that is canon to every playthrough, and there will be H-scenes not involving other characters without her present in the future, it has always been my intention to let you skip any content you don't want to see; but, again, if you don't care about this feature, it is entirely optional. :)

An annoying thing happened to me this week. The preview image I posted of the third bonus scene was taken down by Patreon, who told me I had to censor it and remove all sexual connotation. The process of trying to do that was pretty ridiculous; I ended up turning in like seven revisions, the last of which was literally just Duvessa's head, but even that was deemed inappropriate for some reason. So, I guess, moving forward all NSFW posts on this page will be for paid members only, by no choice of my own. Sorry :/

That's all from me this week, thank you as always for your support!

The sad thing is, it did end, and the motherfuckers learned from it and are now incorporating the lessons from it. They learned that overt appellations to Christianity, to ascribing pornography to the devil, doesn't work. They learned it's much more palatable to claim you're protecting women and children by banning porn, even if women and children disagree, there's no basis to it and all reputable feminists actually disagree with their bans (the other, pretty hilarious, side to this is dipshits claiming that Sarkesian&co are actually worse than the censors. Nevermind they explicitly never called for censorship, are condemning the censorship, and obviously, are literally not the people threatening the financial livelihood of developers of adult games!)
The latest push is the result of an anti-abortion, anti-trans, anti-porn australian group, two american hardline christian anti-porn groups and, tangentially, a couple of british anti-trans anti-sexwork groups.
There's a place for critically discussing erotic fantasy and how eroticizing non-consent figures into it (it is, regardless of gender, pretty popular, and yeah, I'm a fan :ROFLMAO:), and what is and isn't problematic etc., but these people - they just want to use it and incest as a wedge to outlaw all porn.

Which is why, regardless of any disagreement about details, it's important draw a line against these censorious motherfuckers.

Yup. It's the classic motte and bailey where people who want pornography banned off the face of the earth for some reason pretend that they're only concerned about *certain* tropes. It all just seems extremely arbitrary and anti-fun to me.

I loved your game for the lesbian content. It's very rare to find a game with a top lesbian protagonist. I would have loved it if you'd let us corrupt Veska more in Part 1.

Status Update #33 – September 8, 2025 + Episode 2 Poster Reveal!

Waited an extra little bit to do the status update this week so that I could put it up alongside the poster for Episode 2 – Enmity! As you can see, Duvessa’s dynamic with a new character is going to be very prevalent in the episode. Meet Dragana, the female warrior who has achieved fame throughout the kingdom for her staggering success. I won’t share any further details than this: she’s been given a temporary assignment that tasks her with working for Duvessa…but that doesn’t mean that she has to like it.

I still do not have a release date for Ep 2 Pt.1, but I’m a) thinking that it’s likely going to be in October and b) making both a soft promise and a challenge to myself that it’ll be released in the first week. The thing is, I’m still not quite done writing it, and my method basically entails me writing the script in its entirety before I program it in to Ren’Py. That means that I still have a ton of work to do once writing is concluded, in addition to the fact that the animation is likely not to be done until then as well. But! You heard it here first. The first week of October. Soft promise, aka you’re only allowed to be mildly upset with me if I fail.

Also, small side note: I hate this new Patreon creator layout thing. Why is it blurring half of my banner? That’s no good. My dream is to soon get a new banner made showing off all the girls in the game, just like all the other AVN greats do! Hopefully I never have to opt in to the new layout, because it sucks.

That’s all from me this week! Thank you ever so much for your support.

Status Update #34 - September 14, 2025

I've been writing a lot this week as per usual...the script for the next release is just about done, after which I can finally get started with programming everything in. I've been writing in such long sessions that I inevitably end up thinking everything I'm doing is terrible by the end, which is always fun. I am interested in whether people will think I pulled off the increase in scale from Episode 1 to 2...the first episode is pretty intimately about one thing, and this one is going to add a number of new concepts and ideas. It's almost like a Hobbit to LOTR type situation. I take solace in the fact that people liked the first episode and I felt exactly the same way while I was writing it.

Hopefully I'll be announcing the release dates a week from now...but no promises. I'm only comfortable doing so when I have a concrete timetable for when I'll have all of the art together. In addition to working on the script, this week I added a feature to the game that enables optional colour coded character names. I personally like the names all being the same colour, but the feature was requested a few times, so I don't see why not!

That's all from me for this week. Please enjoy the preview image of Duvessa and Erika interacting with a brand new character you've never seen before! XD

Please don't add fantasy and magic elements to the game. I love that "Jezebel" is a medieval story, and nothing more. I don't want it to end like "The Survival of Sarah Rose," where the protagonist starts shooting lightning bolts and fighting monsters from another dimension.

There will never be any magic in the game. When I say I'm adding new concepts I mean new characters, factions, religious mythology, etc.

Speaking of - why did you decide not to include any magic at all?
Fantasy is an overplayed genre as is, and I guess I just don't see the "default" medieval setting being one that follows the typical orcs/dragons/trolls/etc formula like a lot of people seem to. I would never make a fantastical story that didn't have a reason to be one to begin with. Every major idea, theme, etc. I had for this game has always been rooted in the realm of at least some degree of reality/believability, so there was just no reason to. I actually think my game is kinda unique as it is medieval, but neither fantasy nor historical fiction.

Plus, I'd have to do a bunch more worldbuilding for stuff my heart wasn't in. Coming up with the world of the game as is has been very fun and generally not felt like work at all.

I agree that using the all fantasy trope is a little overplayed but I like some magic, it adds mysterie. No need for dragon or fireball. But some strange object, some strange plant effect keeping the mysteries between is it magic? is it just a "normal" effect of this or that? It adds variety without going towards the easy "magic solved it all".

I'll admit, the Axeman had me wondering if Jezebel was going to have fantastical or supernatural elements. If you say that's definitely not the case, I'll have to think slightly differently about that mystery.

This also made realize something about the way I've been talking about this story. I've been calling it "believable" and "grounded" without thinking about its lack of fantasy elements.

High fantasy stories full of magic, strange creatures and the purely fictional concepts brought on by those elements can still be grounded and believable in the sense that they take their premise seriously and acknowledge their repercussions. Something like the Witcher comes to mind for this. The weird magic and creatures in that world have horrible consequences for the normal people trying to live in it and the story tends to acknowledge that fact and work it into the drama.

Inversely, a story completely devoid of fantasy can be detached from the consequences of its worldbuilding, making it less grounded, and fail its continuity, making it harder to believe. Several stupid action movies come to mind for this.

Jezebel is believable, not because it has no magic, but because it carefully deals with the consequences of its setting, world building, history and characters.

I think the Ghastly Axeman is a good example of this, and why I say "at least some degree" of believability. I'm not against putting mysterious/unexplained stuff in the game, and you can likely expect more of it, I just have a hard rule against anything that literally could not conceivably happen in real life.

Status Update #35 + Release Date Announcement!

I'm afraid I've failed you; a release date in the first week of October is a no go. But hey, three days later isn't that bad. Part one of Episode 2 - Enmity will launch on October 10th for Matriarch tier users and higher, which means Oct. 17th for Lady tier, and the 24th for Serf tier/general release. Speaking of general release, here's hoping I'll have some way of charging for the game on itch by then...

It doesn't feel like it to me, but by the time part one releases, it'll have been almost 5 months since Ep.1 first dropped. I don't much like that; the whole point of splitting episodes up was to get content out faster. To rectify this, I'll have to write at a faster pace. There were two scenes this go around that had a million different variations, many of which a lot of people will never read, and it was just a total slog to get through them. I'll have to give myself a minimum amount spent writing every day or something to make such scenes more tolerable.

That being said, even if I had finished writing quicker, it's possible (probable, even) that budgetary stuff would still mean that the release would be the same. As always the best way for releases to take less time is for the game to scale up in terms of how much revenue it's generating. That's the dream, anyway! I hope to have more updates for you about the Steam release soon, as well.

That's it for this week! Thanks for your support!

I personally think that the quality and size of the update matters way more than the speed. And usually you cannot have both.

Having produced thousands of words no one will read is a good thing, because it adds to the depth and epicness of the narration anyways. Bob Ross sometimes covered a part of his nearly finished painting with a big tree in the foreground. This also created more depth and everyone knew that there where still all the things behind that tree.

Your narration so far has an Epic vibe because of all this depth. I don't think you should trade that for shorter updates.
