Status Update #43 - December 28, 2025

It's the last status update of the year, which has me feeling bittersweet. 2025 is forever going to have a special place in my heart as the year I launched the game, and I have you all to thank for helping me to keep making it into 2026! New Year's always serves to make me feel a lack of accomplishment from the prior year, but not so much this time! I hope everyone is still having a good holiday.

I remain hard at work on the next episode, and have gotten started on art production. I've gotten a bunch of ideas that have somewhat broadened the ambition and scale of this next update; I have a feeling it's going to end up substantially outsizing Pt. 1 in terms of length and art assets. This refers to the NSFW scenes as well; I want to make sure that they fit my vision completely, even if that means they take longer or cost more to produce. As such, I hope we can come to an understanding where I pledge to work as hard as I can until it's ready, but you don't begrudge me if it ends up taking longer than I had hoped . I promise the end result will be worth the wait!

Happy New Year's, and thank you all again!

Status Update #44 - January 4, 2026
Just now

Happy first status update of the new year! Unfortunately, it's not a particularly exciting one. My artists are all at work on art for the next release, and I continue on with the writing. The scale/many moving parts of the story that I mentioned in last week's update are somewhat intimidating to me as I go forward, but there's no way out but through. Health woes have impaired me somewhat in terms of productivity, but luckily I'm getting that all fixed on Thursday. I think that the more I write, the clearer the path becomes, and the more enthusiastic I become in turn. Right now we're still in the stage where I'm figuring stuff out, and everything is a puzzle; I'm sure fellow writers can relate to how gratifying of a feeling it is when said puzzle is solved, though!

Hopefully the first NSFW preview for Lady-tier members and above will be out in the next week or two. With regards to the Steam release, the plan at the moment is for the game to be featured in the Next Fest in February before officially being released in early access.

That's all for this week; signing off! - Mr. Pengo, Esquire

I hope you get better soon! I’m sure that everyone would agree to prioritise yourself over working on the update if you’re not feeling well right now.

You're a very good writer. I loved Ep-1, and now I loved Ep-2 too! Thank you, and please continue doing what you've been doing. This was very enjoyable. I wouldn't want anything changed.

How gay is this game actually? It says under the genre that maledom is "planned", but a bunch of the promo screenshots are the main lady sucking dick or getting spanked by guys. Basically, is this one of those "it gets a lesbian tag cause there's one lesbian scene" games?

It is possible to play the game entirely without MxF scenes and only focus on lesbian stuff. The attention I give straight/lesbian is about 50/50.

When I say maledom is planned that isn't an implication that it's mandatory; it will be the result of you choosing to make it happen.

That's good to hear. Sorry if I came off kinda aggro. I just spend a lot of time scrolling through straight stuff in the lesbian tag and it gets to me lol

As a player who exclusively plays sapphic games, I can attest in this game that the lesbian narrative arc is both fleshed out and well-written. It is entirely possible to avoid the hetero content and play a strictly lesbian route. iirc only one LI is "force" and it's a woman but the sexual content is optional with her. You shouldn't feel like you are an hetero woman trying to fight against the game narrative to play a lesbian, the game actually respects your identity.

Lmao I just saw your review of Reanimated Heart about this exact thing while browsing. What a legend.

If you are looking for a deep narrative with some really good lesbian stuff, this is for you.

You HAVE to be able and willing to read quite a lot though.

The lesbian representation is great because the game handles female characters really well. I understand that this is a male dominated space, but it can be irritating how the majority of the female protagonists are written in a lot of these games where it’s obviously made by men for men. Like, 90% of the time they are 2-dimensional dolls with the sole purpose being to objectify them. It’s refreshing how the focus of the game is centered around a strong female cast who are actually capable, intelligent, and driven. There’s also plenty of feminist themes present in the story which I appreciate. That’s part of why I was so adamant about not including the bad endings into the story before, though I regret being combative about it.

Anyway, this might be a bad idea, but I was wondering if there could be a choice in the prologue that can determine your sexual orientation. I could be wrong, but no matter what relationships you pursue there is some inner dialogue from Duvessa about her attraction to both men and women, which would ruin immersion for those who want to play as a lesbian. Like, it can play out similarly to the choice about your relationship to your mom and how you feel about her passing, and alter the flavor text accordingly. Maybe it can also grey out choices that lead to relationships with guys similar to the dom and sub choices?

I understand the immersion thing, but Duvessa is a character who has an established history regardless of what you choose to do aka she's canonically bisexual and has slept with both men and women in the past. The intention was never to make her a full-on audience surrogate character as she is very much her own person; however, I recognized that mandatory male stuff would be unpopular and didn't think it was necessary to the game. I've received enough vitriol from itch.io reviews about the mandatory lesbian pairing as is

Makes sense! I don't dislike the male pairings, I just thought of the idea because of the discussion yesterday. But damn, how can anyone loathe Erika so much as to write hate comments. She's a bundle of joy and basically a golden retriever lol, and also makes a great contrast with Duvessa.

I guess some people just can't stand lesbian content. I'm unsure as to whether it's straight woman, gay men, homophobes, or a mix  but it's the source of pretty much every bad review I've gotten on there.

It makes sense to me for it not to be up to the player because it would pretty much remove her from the plot if Duvessa didn't take an interest in her, and I bet you have it planned for her to play a crucial role in the story later down the line. But that's just my speculation :)

I guess people hate being railroaded no matter how sensible it is? That and the homophobes like you said lol
