If there's any female protagonist game you should try, it's that one, it's probably the best one ever made IMO.
Hah yea, I agree with you, most RPG maker games are trash. He actually overhauled RPGmaker massively with user made third party apps. It's a rare example of doing RPG maker right.

I'm a simple man and don't think too much of it. Basically, in male MC games you get to have a harem of great waifus (if it's a harem game of course) but in female MC games you get to BE the waifu which is exciting as well as you always have eye candy right in front of you and it's nice to just be in direct control of the girl and making her do things you wanna see.
I don't pick a guy "I" want to have sex with, I pick a guy (or guys) my female player character has sex with. I mean, when I choose to play a male PC game I also pick a guy the female characters will have sex with. And it'll be the same guy in all the scenes. Surely that points to a greater degree of attachment to the guy than playing a woman and picking up a bunch of one night stands?

For BDSM it's great. Games are about controlling the protagonist after all. But they can also make the protagonist (and by extension the player) lose that control by way of mechanics. That sounds like fun power play dynamics to me. Besides, if you like the protagonist you are guaranteed to get many scenes with her. You can sometimes also hear her thoughts. Isn't that hot? And yes, some guys like self inserting too.

Well believe it or not, but there are guys that play otome, so why they shouldn't play porn games with fem. protagonist too. I play games with fem. protagonist, but also with male protagonist(yaoi games). I do plan to try other porn games like What a legend-the art is so pretty.

It is a very fun power dynamic, but my two regrets are that you usually just end up going around in a loop because the game was technically designed with BDSM as a bad end (rather than a goal on its own*) and that I still only really end up looking at it from the outside, no matter how much I self-insert. (I suppose it helps that I'm no dude, so it's a win-win for me.)
*And even if it was designed as a genuine path, you'd have to script tons of events to keep it from becoming an endless loop, since the player would rely on NPCs to take action in their stead.
Have you tried self-inserting as the guys fucking the MC and not self-inserting as the MC herself?

A little jealous, yeah. Believe it or not, we never asked for the ugly bastards with deformed horse cocks, but they are forcefully shoved down our throats regardless. 1. Female MC games usually refer to the female protagonist by her name, not as YOU.
"Sabia is currently getting fucked." (Sabia from Karryn's Prison)

2. You're not looking for guys to fuck YOU(unless of course the game is specifically designed to refer to her as you), you're actually helping perverts fuck her, so you can see a sex scene. Your desire for her is shared among the other males. So the males are in fact a reflection of your perverse desires to fuck the shit out of her.
Hopefully you read this, since you seem genuine in wanting to understand the psychology behind it.
I never stopped to consider that. I don't remember seeing many women on gay games (near to zero)... but one example is Lust for adventure where the game is mostly gay, but you can have some straight (or a few lesbian) scenes, and the models (based on WoW) look nice.
My guess, is that those games are made by male devs, and straight men usually don't like to see any other dicks than theirs. They don't bother to design, or even take time to at least have a functional and normal human being as the men partner. Hell, they don't even bother with the male MCs! much less they would do with male NPCs. If they could put only invisible floating dicks and hands, they would do it. I guess this logic is prevalent on most straight porn too.
If I ever include a straight scene on my game (not happening. The only pussy I ever saw is from pics on the internet) I would choose the most attractive actress I could find, and she would appear on the scene as much as the man. Well, that is if there is porn that shows the guy for more than 4 seconds.
It's a tad weird actually. I am a straight guy who, surprise surprise, identifies as a male. Yet when I play something, not just the games here but any game which allows character customization, I choose to play as a woman. I guess it is two parts wanting something pleasant to look at and one part curiosity. There is also this small part which enjoys turning the character I play as into a slut (obviously applicable to the games here). Now, the weird part is, I have no desire to do any of that IRL. I am not promiscuous, an exhibitionist or want to get in relationships with ugly women. So it is an alter ego sort of thing, a guilty pleasure I can indulge in whenever I feel like but never let it escape the virtual world.
