designing a functional battlefuck system is harder than you might assume. Many people here might remember when Karryn's prison had just one floor, no side jobs and no voice acting. aside from some minor changes and added content, the current battlefuck system is similar to how it was then. Remtairy rolled with an idea and it turned out to be genius. a bit of luck and a lot of creativity, coupled with a tight package with clear limitations. and it never got much deeper than that.
so new devs either avoid this because they know how hard it is, or they dive in and soon realize it wasn't as simple as they assumed (look up Goblin's Exclusive Sex Slave Dahlia for a failed attempt at recreating KP's battle system).
nono, I do realise that it is a hard game to make, there wouldn't be only two good ones out of thousands if that wasn't the case
that's why it makes me sad that the creater of one of the good ones is not gonna try to push the genre forward for some weird restrictions, but hey, it's his life, not mine
what I find interesting is that both KP and ToA have excellent systems but are simultaneously completely different in their mechanics, AKA, there is still A LOT of potential and new aproaches to unpack
Maybe Rem develops a new system with his new games, and goodluck to him, but I much rather have a female centric one that a male one, idk
Hopefully I have to eat my words in the future
