Crackpot theory time.

Based on my recent playthrough of katalist i might have come to a basis of what svelva's role might be in the story. I think that Vaila might not be the originator of the "katalist" spell. Atleast on the alchemy theory of working with souls. We know according to ingame lore that:

  • Soul Philtering
Philtering is To Meddle with Souls. To avoid. Some minor versions of it involving spirit souls and minor familiars can be found in resonation recipes. Anything beyond that is mostly Prohibited by Law.

Is a existing form of alchemy. This shows that Vaila is dabbeling in some rather dangerous parts of alchemy when altering our body and soul. I believe that the energie residues of a person that you absorb is part of Soul Philtering . There is mention of another character who dabbles that field. That being Svelva.

North of the snow barren village there exists a tree who asks you if you are "one of svelva's" because you have succubus energy mixed with other souls in your body. It would make sense if svelva also is able to make a similar spell like the "katalist" spell since Si (the green agglomorate you meet in the old housing facility) Refers to you as " A brother and the same apple but from a different tree" What if Si and maby also bonnie (she used to have an agglomorate status in the code, and she also has an essence that according to when you meditate on it "doesnt exist") are the same kind of being but made by svelva. I think svelva is going to be one of the final antagonists in the game opposing Dilan who is working for vaila and the resistance.

is there many bugs in new ver?
There are some bugs but you should be able to get through the new quests without any issues, I did it on the initial buggier release. If you're having issues there is a quest guide on the official wiki:

I ran into this when exploring. If u choose the who is svelva dialogue you get this. This might also be interesting for those who were theorising about the identity of this Svelva character. It might tie into the theory that there have been multiple "katalists" like beings before. Probably bonnie and Si are some kind of being made out of fused souls or svelva might be some kind of necromancer. Since Ayleen tought we were svelva playing a trick on her after dilan walked up to her when she killed him before. View attachment 4928548 View attachment 4928550 View attachment 4928551
Btw, i said it a while ago, but i'm too lazy to find the post so imma say it again:

If you look at the "actor" side of Katalist in Mtool...
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

You can find Svelva, who is level 99, has crazy stats and goes by the Alias of "Dim Hat", which you might recall, Miki says the "Dim Hat" had corrupted Jailé, the "rootlet" part is probably just a bug (it would be hilarious if he was just a rootlet tho)

Also, you can also find Katja, but who also has crazy parameters, but has a "???" for description and "Agglomerate" for Class, which is the same class that Bonnie and Si have.

That doesnt seem to do anything for me. What are your knowledge / insanity stats like? Did you do anything else when entering the house?
I have 15 cracks, 250 knowledge and 137 insanity (I believe some of that came from save editting admittedly). I can't tell you if any of that is required to trigger that event because I don't know.

I did interact a bit with the stuff in the second floor and the components of the ritual there next to his corpse for a bit before triggering the event. You also have to interact with the corpse repeatedly (a bunch of times Dilan will just be like "..." I think) for it.

Dunno if there's anything else. It's one of the few events where Dilan seems to actually talk by himself.

As for the other image you posted, yeah I believe it's from Cold Route if Ki gets killed (or if you personally kill Ki maybe?)

I might have missed something that you did. Even with editing a separate save to have the same stats i dont get anything from interacting with the corpse. I originally only had 9 cracks. Dont know if that changes things. Might be from the fact that i managed to beat bonnie without dying skipping her dream content entirely (even more reason to believe she is of the same making as Dilan).

Btw did Dilan do anything interesting in that event? Or did he just yap about someone being dead or something.

Do we know what the difference between Succubi and Incubi are in this world? It doesn't seem to be gendered and I can't find a clear answer on the wiki.

I'm wondering if there's a book in game that I might have missed.
Per Hum's introductory dialogue, it is hinted that Incubi feed off dreams rather than physical essences as opposed to Succubi, so they are considered separate species unlike some real-world interpretations of them as male/female members of the same race.

Really? What happend? I have been there and seen a corpse of someone trying to do a niht/magnetia related ritual. But no event was there for me. Only an explorable house. I even have a high amount of insanity so i think it might have a different trigger?
I was able to trigger the event too, but the only insanity related event I've done before was the "Person" interaction in Hotel Vania iirc.

Gonna agree with almost all your theories cuz I'm biased (been thinking about this throughout last year) lol, this update is an outright declaration of the fact that Dilan isn't the first of his kind, that they've been known to the Council for a while now.
Maybe there is something about agglomorate essences that prevents another from integrating it readily, but the Walter cutscene seems to imply that Dilan was canonically resisting Bonnie/Katja's influence, and it was only after being pushed to his limits that Katja was finally "let in," as after this point Dilan automatically unlocks Frost magic.

It'd make sense if Svelva was actually responsible for making Bonnie into an agglomorate, too, since Katja makes statements openly resenting Svelva near the end of the Purplehead possession. If Svelva is known for being a master manipulator, the previous dream cutscenes would imply he tricked Katja into becoming his friend only to meddle with her soul.

I meant the event in this place. I cant seem to trigger it.

I'm pretty sure you have to interact with the book above the summoning circle first. Then you interact with the dead guy.

Edit: I looked with mtool and used an earlier save to redo it. I interact with the corpse first (Dilan realizes him as the ferryman), then the book, then the second interaction onwards on the corpse it happens.

My bad, it doesn't require insanity or any related variable to it. It gives some. Specifically +1 to Cracks (var 2801) and "SR DeepEnd" (var 2813) variables.
