That chick also appears under the Mortorium (did I spell that right?) in a place called something like "_____'s Shrine". So at the very least she's definitely meant to be *somebody* and not just a one-off creepy encounter.

Maybe the files have her somewhere, too lazy to check.

The labyrinth has a bunch of ghosts speaking Japanese but IIRC they don't say anything important.

I'm probably being dense but how to you get to the shrine? I made it to the cemetery but I can't see a shrine. Is it something to do with the removing the pennies from the coffins?

So it is a bit odd but I am currently doing a fresh run of the game and am currently on the third night and I ended up finding a new area. As I have no clue how long it has been in the game for and no clue what the benefits are I thought I would post what I found here.

So the names of the area I found are "Old Mortorium", "Penny-Sized Mortorium" & " 's Shrine".

The way to get to this area requires you to get to "Fair Poison" (the abandoned/raided village left of the which's hut), then go down to the "Abandoned Cemetery".

Once there follow the path until you are outside the building, on the north side, standing in the middle, facing south, hit the action key and you will enter the "Old Mortorium"

Now from here you will be able to access the other areas rather easily as there is a puzzle that can be solved by looking around.

We know the identity of this character a bit. This is Nalid who is a part of Dilan that for some reason has been split from him.

See, the paths may represent an illusion of choice for Dilan, where the end result and entity he interacts with are constant across the routes. What he "chooses" is likely just what he wants to see most, such as Bonnie's sweet talk/domming providing him a sense of warmth he longs for, and being content with Katja's vague indifference in his own aloof coldness. It's a bit of a wonder that, like you said, a singular person could take on such varying aspects, but that may tie into an agglomerate's nature, as well as Bonnie's potentially long lifespan (judging by her wartime activities).

I did manage to keep Ki alive in the Cold path though, so it feels like Dilan having to push past the same mental resistance worded differently in each scenario



That's probably exactly it, I can't get Jason's deal but the rest have got to be Pearls (or some of them). Between the red eyes and Alex showing up right when a Failed Pearl was being absorbed, this is probably our first look at how populated Dilan has become, echoing what Nalid said about how "so many are here now."

Also you may joke, but Deverou being a Vania could be the missing link connecting the family to Gatastate. It'd be somewhat random for the Vanias to simply happen to own property we frequent in the Ugly Chloa, but if Deverou were the master of the place, that explains a lot, and has further implications of Niht's reach across the realms.

I should really replay all paths soon to test some of my theories. But if we go with that all paths are just another perspective of the same events that happen maby its a bit less like an illusion of choice but more of wich perspective we are talking about.

Maby each path represents a part of Dilan as you said. The cold path (i have the least knowledge about this path) is about Dilan's capability to be cruel and cold. Merciless when needed but that is not all what Dilan is. The warm path might represent his more positive traits. His longing for warmth of others? Maby it just represents his positivity, happiness and good traits itself. The own path i feel like has had a very heavy focus on Nalid so maby that path represents Nalid's (own) perspective on all the events. Since its pretty clear that Nalid is just a part of Dilan himself who at some point got split off from his main personality.

You CHOOSE wich path you want to take. Your own input matters alot in this game.

One thing to keep in mind is this. Dilan himself is not a static character either. His personality may vary. You can play him in a miriad of ways. You can be a cheery, nice person or a cold, cruel or even creepy guy. So maby all paths are potential parts of his being the good the bad and even the lost part (Nalid) of him.



The deverou connection is not that easy i think though. Since Alan's pc says this about the matter of the whole a residue of Noo's energy has been seen in the 4th mine (Dilan teleporting there with a part of her essence)

I dont think the Vania's are in a ammicable relationship with the Gastastate Niht cult. (or Deverou has been disinhereted or something but for now we just lack a proper basis to make assumptions.)

I'm not smart enough for the more esoteric theories on Dilan's past (dude has like three different gravestones, he's got 17 different chicks in his head and I can't figure out what the fuck Person is talking about, I'm not built for this) or Nihtling biology, but a few smaller details I noticed this update and that I thought were fun to piece together

Those are some neat findings. Yeah ive also made the connection of the whole Liam and Ki's mission that went wrong. The interesting part is that what they took from the sentinel tower and i quote "a file from the archives pertaining last years harvest is lost" And they havent recovered it after catching all the students. Wich means its been hidden somewhere. Some neat stuff to remember for future updates yeah.

I did not know the Beverly lore was that interesting. I have nto played her sub route. Really cool that she is some kind of hybrid. A great finding on your part.

For Dixie im not too sure myself how much she knows. She has to be aware of a certain extent about the sus behavoir of the college itself. But i dont know how much she knows. Shes the queen of rumors so that helps with her understanding of stuff but i dont think she is that in the loop of what for example a Phoux is or what stone's identity is. She might know its some kind of magical creature but i dont think she has much more knowledge about it. She probably does know more about the portals under the college and the whole Nith cult then our Dilan but yeah would love to see her story unfold

And for the whole stone reaction i think you have a solid theory that something in her reacts to the old housing that is not stone. Since stone even before the "freeing" of her mind was already the same silly idiot. So its definently either Phoux related or a less likeley chance related to the enchantress since according to indeed when she was still normal. Neither stone nor serpentine did she feel had a connection to the hivemind wich is the coin pixies working for the echantress.

One last thing i like to mention is this.The whole minder event has some very heavy lore significance. Between the lines of philosophy yapping that he does about differrent topics (who i think might also hold some plot significance but its not too clear for now) Are these lines

He goes to talk about not remembering selling his soul and the concept of true freedom when being demanded it by god or by not being given its blessing. I think this event is worth looking into with mtool some time (i just did but i would love to see some other takes about this sequence of events).

He also makes a comment about how you have two reflections. Growing eyes on the back of your head. Here you is written like this while later he addresses the player as "you". Maby im thinking too much about it but its still interesting nonetheless.

What are the identity of the multiple two's ? Dilan and Nalid? Bonnie and Katja? (maby a split part of their personality like Dilan same person but kind of like how Dilan's personality is not that consistent either) Maby hes talking about Bonnie/Katja connection to Dilan and Nalid. Or about a connection towards an higher being we have not seen yet. Like some cosmic force of nature since hes also talking about gods. Afterwards the song "may we go round OGG" starts playing wich is also playing in other Katja events IIRC.

He is friends with the letterman who is the courier of deeper deities so he does have a connection to the goddess purplehead in some extent. So maby their friendship did impact his existance somehow. Or he got some kind of punishment from the deity. I recomend everyone who likes to theorise to look into the entire event chain of the minder stuff. He says some neat theory fuel. (i might be looking wayyy to deep into it)

The fact that the update took a year+ and had a MASSIVE bug fix in less than a month shows that teary is either the laziest human being or he started on the update just a couple of months prior to relase thus explaining why there were no progress reports.

The Alan intel is one real juicy piece that shifts my view of the two factions' relations for sure

Either Gatastate and Vania are at odds, or it was just sheer coincidence that their recent activities took place in nearly the same locations. Also with the talk of Noo being unlikely to survive, what are the chances the Nihtlings were referring to Miki? Unless Noo is hiding some kind of serious injury or deficiency, her power levels don't make sense in regards to the comparison with the "Hunter," who is likely Alex or Tracy.


Now, "illusion of choice" is admittedly not the best way to word it on my part, but what I'm trying to get at is how despite the different ways Dilan/the player can view the same timeframe, the end result ultimately doesn't change. That said, I agree choice does matter in the sense that it can tie what Dilan "wants to see most" to be in line with the player's view of his personality.

On top of Minder, there's sure been an uptick in mentions of pacts between Deities and mortals lately. The _____'s Shrine event is surprisingly old, but there's the connection between it and the Unknown Messenger who bore the Unending Book. Both events even share the same bgm, to boot. Minder himself might not be a messenger, but Letterman definitely is, so one has to wonder if the enshrined _____ Deity has anything to do with Purplehead or is something else entirely.

Minder's bit about binaries and freedom were the only parts of his riddles I somewhat got ngl, even then I can't see much beyond Dilan/Nalid being a tool to others. One thing that may turn out noteworthy though: if Dilan and Nalid are indeed the "you two" he refers to, would that make them true friends to each other, trying to save one another, the way Letterman and Minder have?

I used to think Teary was good at writing lore and crafting an interesting world, now that I realize theres still "lore" and loose ends from nearly 5 years ago that hes forgotten about I realized theres really no pattern or thought put into it, its pretty much throw ideas against a wall and see what sticks, and then maybe just maybe continue it the next update (more often it gets left forgotten)
