There's a scene in an SM club where the MC does sort of futa on male (she can grow a dick but doesn't normally have one), but doesn't appear to be a common theme as I can see. There's some male on futa as well with MC's companion (can also grow one), but mostly it's female on futa.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the main character is a woman and DeepL mistakenly gave them male pronouns.
I think a big problem is that people don't always cover for or even know about some of the quirks that are more unique to it like repeating lines which will leave some stuff untranslated because you just never had to do that with stuff like google translate. Like just for an example of a way I've noticed it happen, you might have line that's something like "I like this good thing, also I hate this bad thing" but which uses that weird Japanese comma instead and if you don't remove it then DeepL will sometimes instead translate the line as "I like this good thing, I like this good thing" which can be really bad if that second bit actually contained important information.
can someone else vouch for this issue? I cannot see any current issues with the translation that would be affecting this outcome and cannot replicate.
I have the same issue. I did download the game from the mega link and applied the translation patch afterwards.
Just did right now and sadly the issue is still there. Esthea just has her name in the text box but no text displayed. See the attached image.
