I think it's mostly because people who are interested in it due to the characters, generally want them to look like the actual characters. It's not bad if that's your fetish, and I certainly won't kink shame anyone over stuff like that, but why artists for stuff like this even bother to make the content around the character if they don't like how the character looked is a bit beyond me.
