I have the same issue, it happens after fighting the second spider in the forest.

how do you see the hommeton villager scenes? i have the village at max but interacting with the villagers with hearts does nothing
FOUND A POTENTIAL TEMPORARY FIX for the northward facing bug by directly editing your current save file
I edited my saves with saveeditonline.com
Upload your save file(located on windows at folder \Kingdom of Subversion 0.28.1\kingdom-of-subversion\www\save), then find the "File unpack" button at the bottom of the page after uploading
Under the "player" status variable, change the highlighted variables:
change variable "_direction" to 2
change variable "_directionFix" to false
IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE TEXT ABOVE SEE THE PROVIDED IMAGES
This let me move normally again but I don't think it will stop the bug from occurring again
IDK if it'll work for everyone but it worked for me

For anyone who wants to permanently fix this bug, all I can say is that certain fights or events cause the _directionFix variable to be set to true when it absolutely should NOT be outside of a cutscene or event.

your save is edited everything is unlocked at level 6
and yours my game dont even recognize it dont see it
try playing without editing i know game is grindy but its not as grindy as pokemon lol, have some conviction

This is my fourth playthrough so I added all items but that aside would the temp fix above work?

i never played with editing my files, it kills immersion for me, also tried it now with saveeditonline.com but i dont see that option at all the one he posted from the picture he shared it dont look like same site to edit at all

He used the "File unpack" button below just below this which shows other info not available in this view, which I tried as per the images before in that post but couldn't fix the issue.
Edit:
The method works btw, I was too lazy to change the variables in the correct class. once unpacked use the find in page(ctrl+f) to find: "player" and then change the direction and directionfix values as there are many in the save file.

remember pick up your "helper" on your journey.
Its gives the bug thats dev didn´t fixed yet

beat aspect of death and when i interacted with her after fight it crashed my game lmao would have been nice if every update didn't make the game a more buggier mess than it already is
