Always just looked at it as

Kink is your flavor
Fetish is your type

But yeah...these two I dont think are ever used correctly.

Futanari - fictional character of neither (or both) sex who has a vagina and a penis.

Fixed.
Yeah, originally that was the case, but these days when people talk about futanari, they mostly mean hermaphroditic female characters.

People are making that assertion. It doesn't make it correct.

They do that so that they aren't called gay by people like we see in this thread. It's a defense mechanism.

Simply and frankly, futanari exist outside of the male/female binary... and are strictly fictional.

But you do you, boo.

But it's true that they're 99% of the time written as female. And, I mean, the whole reason we started using the term intersex is because humans can't be true hermaphrodites, so describing futa as hermaphroditic female characters is pretty accurate to their usage.

Do we really want to go down this path of what gender the primary authors are of these characters and who the target audience are of these characters, as well as the frailty of the male self-identity and social pressures to enforce heterosexuality?

Also, no, it's not the whole reason why we started using the term intersex. Intersex was introduced over 100 years ago to describe the way we use it today (Goldschmidt, Richard (1916). "Die biologischen Grundlagen der konträren Sexualität und des Hermaphroditismus beim Menschen".) But yes, true hermaphrodism ( ) is highly improbable in humans - but not impossible.

Again, simply because it is being called that doesn't make it correct.

Futanari could be called:
  • females with a penis in addition to a vagina (modern usage in most circles)
  • males with a vagina in addition to a penis (the original use of futanari in 12th century Japan)
However, the fictional characters exist outside of a binary. The fictional characters are neither male nor female.

I uhh... just thought it was an apt description of how futanari are used. There was no need to think that much about it. (But if you didn't, you wouldn't be you :ROFLMAO:)
But then you are falling into the same trap of the person with whom you are in discussion about whether enjoying futanari is gay or not. You are accepting a definition used by people who are less than confident in their identity, as well as their sexuality - rather than using an open, objective mind and seeking to remove the bias systemically assigned to the terminology.

Is it though? Most futa stuff I've seen is usually just a woman with a penis instead of a vagina, not with both. Then again I haven't seen that much futa stuff because I don't actively seek it out. I'm into femdom though and a bunch of femdom games tend to have futa stuff.

I'ma stop you right there, I ain't discussing anything. I'm fuckin' with a guy who thinks the dick being on a male body makes it less gay cause it's fun. :ROFLMAO:

You are correct. You haven't seen much futanari. What you are talking about is colloquially known as "dickgirls" in the industry. They have been created by artists/fans as a subgenre of futanari.

This, again, goes to who is creating the art/stories/games/videos and who the target audience is. As well as their sexual identity and their sexual preferences. Some of the fans of "dickgirl" futanari art would deny they are attracted to transgender women. By having the "dickgirl"/futanari term in their pocket, it gives them - in their minds - deniability.
I'ma stop you right there, I ain't discussing anything. I'm fuckin' with a guy who thinks the dick being on a male body makes it less gay cause it's fun. :ROFLMAO:
Whatever, call it what you want. You're still guilty of the same.
