I think as a game it tried to do too much and ended up worse than Sistina/Mai.

The exp obtained is worse than in the previous games, which means you actually probably don't get to level 50 by the time you reach the first final boss, and level 50 is when you get both your capstone skills and gear. At least you get some of the gear in chests in the last dungeon, but that still doesn't feel good.

It's also, well, very long in a way that feels bloated, and while having a a more traditional harem hero in a ntr game is a bold choice, I feel like I just preferred Mai and Sistina's characters much more than Sephira or whatever the harem protag's name is.

Given how long and insistent the whole "get money" ntr plot is, too, the weirdness of "just don't listen" was higher than in previous games, especially as the logic of why that would help with money is baffling and characters believe the guy is a great acountant.
that's if you paid attention, the only two characters that matter is the protag and rini. she's the true main heroine. the other girls are to give the game more spice. you could only reach lvl 50 by the end? the true final boss was hard but I beat him on the 1st paythrough. I gotta disagree with you on best game. I thought Mai was a sham of a story compared to this one; while I agree about the bloat. I ignored the ntr entirely and the story was better for it

The true final boss was easier than the second final boss who was easier than the guard of the first final boss, lmao. getting to the first final boss means you kinda stomp all over the rest of them, though arguably second final boss can wipe you out if you are careless and then you have to watch a ten minute cutscene again.

As that guard begins the fight with a AoE magic spell that wipes the party, so you must either kill it before its first turn or silence it, or something else I didn't think of (I actually got lucky and Seriph learned a silencing skill randomly there).

Rini and Seriph are the two most important, but Maya and Alicia are both really important too imo, and I would say that they are important enough that they dilute stuff for both Seriph and Rini (or Seriph and Rini dilute stuff for them).

There is a reason you don't actually get the best weapons for Rini/Maya by the end of the game without grinding + random drops though, while you get them for Alicia/Seriph.

Re: Mai, it's a much shorter story but I felt that having to look for stuff to find the true end + Mai's character very much made it a more enjoyable game by the end.

the only thing i didn't like about KoM is how through the entire game the main protag is blue balled. even in the endings.. the main thing that killed it for me and Mai is the feel like the game is really centered around NTR'n Mai and everyone else; although, I liked the virgin ending. I was also turned off by the pregnancy mechanic just being an endgame switch
