I too tend to isolate my game characters from myself (leading to crippling altoholism in all RPGs), but I'll try to look at it from the self-inserter's perspective.
The protagonist I have in my mind is an anti-hero, a hardened criminal, an up-and-coming gang leader, so I guess he's an ugly bastard with an emphasis on the bastard. Hopefully doing crime will be the main hurdle for those who identify themselves with the protagonist, and not his rugged appearance.
The genre I aim for is dark satire, and porn/prostitution will be right in the center. Corruption seems like a natural fit, so—and this is my main takeaway—if I focus on it, an ugly bastard won't be something unexpected.
As for those actually come for the UB, do you folks think they will expect—risking to bring the Blood War here, oof—NTR? There won't be any darling waifus in my game, only disposable (and procedurally generated) holes, so I don't think it qualifies.

okay that does it. I've been toying with the idea of adding a down syndrome girl in my game because the idea of abusing her makes me chuckle. but I've been torn because it's obviously a bad idea. there was at least couple of guys here calling for uggly girls and that's enough for me. I'm already feeling bad for the things she'll have to endure. going straight for the feels.

Ugly bastards are common in hentai but not enough are protagonist in games. I don't like playing as a boring Mr. Perfect, I want to play as a disgusting, dirty, evil, ugly bastard, one who schemes of sadistic ways to corrupt and turn strong-willed haughty bitches into meat toilets. Bonus points if the bitches have boyfriends/husbands my bastard avatar can cuck.

... you know i dont think there really are a lot in a playable role tanuk's also dont get much love in a playble state in games it seems... could you imagine if they fuzed those two? probbably get some vagely doraemon looking thing.
Thinking back, I don't think I've ever really self inserted in games, even in cRPGs designed for it. I think it always felt kinda cringy naming the character as myself and doing that whole self insert thing. For one, I'm usually playing some min maxing munchkin asshole characters in those RPGs lol. That ain't me, but I sure as hell enjoy playing as those characters.
No and No, Have you heard of BBM ? they are more decent than ugly bastard in my opinion.

Because without self-insertion the genre would give you the impression that all girls in it are easygoing and any generic dude could be banging them all.
I've read self-insert fans explaining this as "projecting into an ideal version of yourself". So even if they are ugly/fat/old irl it seems like they have no issues self-inserting into a more generic/ideal protagonist.
For the most part, corruption enjoyers that don't self-insert and just want to see more corruption taking place.
